I just saw Holding the Man as well... Beautiful and sad! I love when there young and just falling in love so cute! and so real. Nothing feels like its fake. Especially the nudie run. A tradition that all Aussie men have tried in their teens and early 20s (and sometimes later after MUCH alcohol).
BTW I can say that Ryan Corr is much hotter in real life! He's currently in a Arcadia by Tom Stoppard at the Opera House. So Sydneysiders get your tickets while you can! (Plus its Stoppard. His plays are fucking brilliant)

The full trailer is out for Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List: After watching this, I kept trying to figure out if Matthew Daddario is actually normal-sized (which is how he appears in this film), or if everyone else in Shadowhunters are tiny because he always seem much taller than anyone else on that show. Kind of fluffy movie - wish it had focused more on Eli - as I just found Naomi kind of blah.

A movie about a guy pretending to be gay? It's based on stereotypes and it's actually extremely offensive and homophobic. I know it's just an indiegogo campaign though, so hopefully the movie will never see the light of day.

The film stars Connor Jessup as Oscar Madly, a creative and sexually confused teenager who retreats into a fantasy world to deal with his sense of isolation. The film's cast also includes Joanne Kelly and Aaron Abrams as Oscar's parents, and Isabella Rossellini as the voice of his talking pet hamster. Some gay movie news/updates.
Call Me By Your Name
The most anticipated gay movie of 2017 is probably Call Me By Your Name, starring Armie Hammer and Timothee Chalamet. The movie is based on a book by the same name, written by André Aciman.
Here is a synopsis:
Mid 1980’s. North of Italy not far from the Garda Lake. The sensitive and cultivated 17-year-old Elio, an only child of the American-Italian Perlman family, is facing another lazy summer at his parents’ villa when Oliver arrives. Oliver is an academic who comes to help Elio’s father, an eminent professor and specialist in Greco-Roman culture, with his work. The visitor will be their guest for the next six weeks during the summer. A charming 24 year old American scholar, Oliver is breezy, spontaneous, handsome, and he’s the kind of person who charms everyone he meets. The meeting of these two young men sets in motion the danger of an unbridled adolescent passion in the setting of the beautiful and languid Italian countryside.
Closet Monster
This movie won the best Canadian feature award last year at TIFF. The festival made a trailer for the movie, but now it finally has an official trailer. The new trailer has more scenes than the old one, including more gay scenes.

Hope this is still a place to discuss movies we have seen I've seen two movies lately, Those People and Fair Haven. THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS. Those PeopleSynopsis: On Manhattan's gilded Upper East Side, a young gay painter is torn between an obsession with his infamous socialite best friend and a promising new romance with an older foreign concert pianist. My review:The movie felt like it consisted of two parts, one was the friendship between Charlie and Seb, and one was the romantic relationship between Charlie and Tim. What I will say is that Sebastian was a very well written character, deeply disturbed, selfish and manipulative, but obviously also very damaged. You felt sorry for him, because you knew there was a reason he reacted the way he did. It was further proved after he met his dad in prison. Everyone would be messed up with a dad like that. And that's also when we as the viewers got to see that Seb wasn't like his dad, Seb actually had a moral compass, he wasn't bad through and through. The friendship between Charlie and Seb was also very gripping. You constantly wondered "will they or won't they". I'm happy it didn't happen. Their friendship really was too strong to be ruined by sex. And it's pretty clear Sebastian didn't feel the same way. Then there's Charlie and Tim's relationship, it was very sweet and romantic. But it's obvious they were at different points in their lives. It just wasn't the right time for them. I'm sad they didn't have a happy ending because all gay movies seem to have sad endings. But well, it was realistic and maybe it wasn't a happy ending, but it was the *right* ending for these characters. It wasn't overtly sad either I might add. All the characters were at a good place. Even though they all ended up single, lol. This wasn't a "romantic" movie in a way though. The movie felt more like it was about friendships and loyalty. So I'd say if you want a romantic movie with a happy ending, this isn't the movie for you. It's a goo movie if you want complex gay characters though, and don't mind a less than perfect ending. I'd give it 6/10. It was a very well made movie, with complex and gripping characters. It wasn't perfect though, because it did fall into some gay movie tropes. I still think it's worth the watch. Fair HavenSynopsis: A young man returns to his family farm, after a long stay in ex-gay conversion therapy, and is torn between the expectations of his emotionally distant father, and the memories of a past, loving relationship he has tried to bury. My review:Gay conversion therapy is serious, this movie is important in that it shows it's still happening. There are still bigoted people out there. I'm glad it also showed that it had no affect. It is not possible to "turn" gay people. LGBT people are born that way, and it's not possible to change. James tried to be with Suzy, but he kept coming back to his ex-boyfriend Charlie (pre therapy). He tried so hard to be straight, but he still had feelings for Charlie and he wanted to be with him. It didn't feel right with Suzy. Eventually he didn't care about "sinning". He didn't think about it being wrong or whatever, he just knew it felt right with Charlie, so they got back together. I know his father sent James to the gay conversion therapy, but I'm happy he admitted he was wrong. He knew he abandoned James, especially after his wife (James' mother) died. He was deeply sorry. He still didn't "get" James, but the most important thing for him is that James is happy. The movie ended with James and Charlie getting back together and them leaving the town. I'm glad this movie had a happy ending, although the turn-around felt a bit fast. James and Charlie were very cute together and had a lot of chemistry too. I'd give it 6/10. The movie was realistic and well done, with some great acting, especially from James and his dad, Richard. I did however think the turn-around for the homophobic dad was a bit fast. I'm glad the movie had a happy ending though. I feel like it's well worth the watch, and James and Charlie's relationship was very cute, though again it was really a small part of the movie.
