Some oldies and not-so-new: Torch Song Trilogy: Harvey Fierstein at his best, plus Mathew Broderick and Brian Kerwin. The scenes with Harvey and Anne Bancroft are classic, IMO. Parting Glances: Richard Ganoung, John Bolger, Steve Buscemi, Kathy Kinney. The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy: Timothy Olyphant, Zach Braff, Dean Cain. Nice ensemble piece. Consenting Adult (note that 'Adult' is singular here, not plural - that's a different movie): Barry Tubb, Marlo Thomas, Martin Sheen. Touching made-for-TV coming out story. Trick: Christian Campbell, Tori Spelling, John Paul Pitoc, and an appearance by Ms. Coco Peru. A couple of young guys just trying to find a place for some 'alone time' (nudge nudge, wink, wink) 24 Nights: Quirky, low-budget, but we watch it faithfully every year at Christmastime. Kevin Isola, Stephen Mailer, David Burtka and Aida Turturro. Still single? Have you tried writing to Santa Claus? Just remember, what you think you want and what you really need aren't always the same thing. Couldn't find any clips on youtube for the last three. Well, actually I had found one earlier for Consenting Adult, but now it seems to be gone. Argh.

Here's a question - how do you embed youtube video clips in a post on this forum? I can't seem to get it to work.

Here's a question - how do you embed youtube video clips in a post on this forum? I can't seem to get it to work. take the portion in the url after v= and post only that between [yt ] ---- [ /yt] but with no spaces in the command. Hope that helps. Daily motion clips are similar but you have to take a different part of the link than you do with youtube.

You write (YT)(/YT) only with square brackets [][/] instead of round ones. And between the two you put just the number of the youtube clip. So for the clip www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5HybkEw6C4 you would put (YT)U5HybkEw6C4(/YT) (with sqare brackets)

Thanks bonobochick and lolaruns - I was actually doing it right, but it doesn't show when you preview a post, so I mistakenly thought it just wasn't working at all.

So many films mentioned but not this one...
Bedrooms & Hallways A decent little Britflick - funny in it's own british way. Kevin Mckidd & James Purefoy are the principle couple.
Others I liked were Broken Hearts club - nice, funny & no real "angst" Brokeback Mountain - hey I relate (big time) Jeffrey - just for Patrick Stewart Get real Alexander - not particularly gay - but Colin Farrel!! Another Gay movie - cheesy but at least there are some in-house jokes.

The Trip is absolutely one of my favorite gay movies. Probably because it pushed me to come out. I really identified with the main character and being caught between a fairly conservative family/background (and not in a religious way) and being gay. Also, the actors really seemed to have fun making the movie--the bonus tracks on the DVD are really full of energy.

But I love the chemistry both actors share. And the soundtrack to it is pretty cool, the 60's - 70's music. * spoiler tagged - Bchick

There have been some concerns expressed that some are posting endings/spoilers to movies. If you want to describe a movie in great detail, please spoiler tag it by changing the font color to beige so as not to expose those who haven't seen that particular movie but wish to without knowing all the details of it. If you've already posted the ending or a big twist to a movie, please take a moment to go back and modify by changing the color of the font to beige. Thanks folks! ;D

Just thought of a few more - if'n people are looking for gay films to watch
Priscilla queen of the desert - I actually liked this - it's gotta kinda feel good factor to it To Wong Foo - didn't do it for me - Patrick Swayze & Wesley Snipes in frocks - Brrrrrrrr Head On - gritty Oz drama - too gritty - bit depressing My beautiful Launderette - very dated now, but Daniel Day Lewis - in his early career
There was one "made for tv film / drama called ACCOUNTS shown on UK TV in the late eighties. Basic synopsis - farming family in yorkshire - father dies - mother & 2 sons move to farm in scottish borders - to cut long story short - youngest son comes out as gay.Nothing spectacular as films go - but something I HUGELY identified with as a gay farming teenager - I literally didn't sleep for 2 days it affected me that much! Jimmy Sommerville took up the baton after that LOL

Last night I've seen 'Kiss the bride'. I think it's very funny and nice to watch. They do a lot of word games that I found hilarious. Tori Spelling was much better then I've ever seen her. I also liked her character. There were quite a few moments when I thought the film might jump into typical stereotypes, but somehow they always managed to find their way out. So the ending was quite unusual too, not your typical Hollywood Kitsch.

I watched two gay-themed movies over the weekend. The one that I really didn't like was The Conrad Boys. There were so many things about the script that didn't make sense to me, that I couldn't let myself enjoy it. I didn't even enjoy the casting of the two male leads.
Then, I watched A Love To Hide, a film about the persecution of Gay men during the Holocaust. An absolutely heartbreaking film. OMG - It kills me that there are groups of individuals (usually white supremacists) out in this World today, that believe that the Holocaust never happened.

I'll play here too. Some of the best I have seen: • Juste une question d’amour (Just a question of love) – Hard to believe that a made for TV movie would turn out to be one of the best GLBT movies I’ve seen, but there you have it: simple, authentic and real, no real clichés without trying too hard, and perfect acting. • Un amour à taire (A love to hide) – Why? – I don’t tear up often during movies, but this one just about killed me. AMAZING story and actors. • Les chansons d’amour (Love songs) – Hello brief Louis Garrel crush that came out of nowhere – “Aime-moi moins, mais aime-moi longtemps” • Ceux qui m’aiment prendront le train (Those who love me can take the train) – Some of the best individual and ensemble acting rarely captured on film • L’homme que j’aime (The man I love) • Ma vie en rose • My beautiful laundrette – Further proof that DDL has always been awesome • Wilde – Masterful Stephen Fry with a Jude Law that’s never been better • Plata Quemada (Burnt Money) • F*cking Amal (Show me love) – unique, flawlessly flawed and real • Brokeback Mountain – Essentially for the excellent, excellent acting performances, all of them (especially Heath’s – what a loss) • The sum of us (I’m not too fond of Russell Crowe – I know, great actor, blablablah – but on this one, he totally got me) • Mysterious skin – hard to watch, but JGL is such a great and underrated actor • The wedding banquet • A home at the end of the world - great acting • Soldier’s girl – TV movie, but gut wrenching • Boy Culture - very predictable, very cliché, very cheesy, not the best acting, not extraordinary or even remarkable, and kind of usually not my thing, but I really liked it somehow (and no, it's not the eye candy either ) – go figure There are other films I’ve liked, including some mentioned here, but wouldn’t list among movies I’d strongly recommend. There were always one or more things about them that would prevent them from being all around great movies or absolute favs of mine.

Macari - I've seen all of those films that you've listed, except, Ceux qui m’aiment prendront le train (Those who love me can take the train). I'm definitely going to add it to my Netflix queue.
I also, absolutely ADORE Les Chanson's D'Amour. I even located this YT clip of the cast, along with the singer/songwriter performing some of the songs for fans of the film, back in November 2007.
I love the Ma Memoire Sale and J'ai Cru Entendre.

"Ma memoire sale" is great. I saw the video you talk about, dkellergrl2001. I really enjoyed it as well.
As for "Ceux qui m'aiment prendront le train", I loved, loved it. It has some of the best French cast ever. Every time an actor would show up, I'd almost giggle in wonder. So many of them in one movie, and everyone is on top of their game in the most subtle way. Not one of them overdoing it for the sake of stealing the spotlight. A little warning, though: the movie has been faulted by some as having too much going on. Duh, it's French, lol. But if you catch everything, it's really a great piece. Vincent Perez's performance alone is mindblowing. You almost don't recognize him. At one point while watching the movie, I wondered 'Where is he? He's listed in the cast.' But he was already there. I was really impressed. So yeah, I'll always recommend that one.

I've just caught "Kiss The Bride" yesterday and I must say it's quite a twist at the ending, I was kinda disappointed though. There isn't much being explored between the leads and there are a couple of sub-plots in it. So kinda take away the main story. But Philipp Karner is one hot guy!

Saw "Summer Storm" and I wasn't all that impressed. It was ok, but it didn't captivate me. I'd recommend it even though it didn't anything for me. There were some touching moments along with funny moments. But seriously, why do so many films have teen guys who jerk off with each other? I didn't think that was all that common. I know like 4-5 guys in junior high who did that, but otherwise... By the time we got to high school, everyone was sexually active and side-by-side choking wasn't done anymore. YMMV.

Saw a really good film tonight titled Walk On Water ( www.imdb.com/title/tt0352994/ ). It's in English, Hebrew and German. Talk about a linguistics workout. I understood a fair amount of the German, my Hebrew really sucks now so I can only read stuff with no clue what it means and understood very little of what was spoken in Hebrew, and well, English... I rock! ;D Anyhoo, I thought is was very absorbing with great acting. It's by the same director who did Yossi & Jagger, which I really enjoyed as well. And there was also an intriguing conversation about cut and uncut men in Europe and the Middle East. Very frank discussion! Anyhoo, I found a clip of an entertaining scene from the movie :

Okie, I have just finished watching an India aka Bollywood film. It's titled "My Brother Nikhil". I've read that this film caused controversy in India when it was being shown over there. As a conservative country like India, this is the first homosexual themed India film being directed. It is about Nikhil, a State Champion swimmer in Goa, was well-loved by his family and shared a very close relationship with his elder Sister, Anu. It was no long after that he contacted HIV and he was the first person in Goa to be found with this virus. He was soon being treated like a criminal, and his parents left him due to the disgrace and shame he has brought to the family. Only his sister, his sister's boyfriend and his boyfriend stood by him and helped him got back his rights as a human. I'm not very good with the description but it was very well-directed. I shed a couple of tears when watching it (I don't usually cry when watching movies or TV shows), it was very touching, especially to see how his closed ones stood by him and abandon him at the same time. And the theme song to the movie, is very very touching, even thought it's in Indian, but thanks to the subtitles, I've managed to understand the meaning of the song. And also don't expect to see kisses or any form of intimacy in the movie between the gay couple as homosexuality is a very much taboo issue in India. If you guys managed to get a chance to watch this movie, please do.

I've seen in the past few days Eternal Summer : one beautiful scene, it's cut, but not a great movie. And For a lost soldier : for me a great movie, but a bit weird, the hero is 12 (and look like 12), and he's boyfriend more than 20...but the all movie is kid's POV so you can accept it in a way. And No night is too long : I just love it. For me THE scene of Eternal Summer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUGitbiwYOk
