This is Sidney (Felipe Titto), his first appearance was last week, and it's been already mentioned his character is gay. He's str8-acting, good looking, and loves soccer . So even though Roni has "a great affection" for his friend Leandro, it seems Sidney will be his love interest At last!!! ;D

For folks that may be scratching their heads in confusion, "straight -acting" has been politically incorrect for a few years now here in the US.

Wow! I've been really scratching my head since I saw that post
I had no idea whatsoever that the expression is considered as politically incorrect in the States . I moved back to Argentina a year ago, after having lived there (first in New York, and after 9/11, in Los Angeles) for more than 11 years, and I've never heard of it

By the way, I used that expression in my post because I thought it was the most accurate way to translate a particular characteristic of this gay character, just as is depicted on the official web site of the soap

Maybe I am missing something, but I do not see a gay storyline here. Roni does not show any feelings of desire toward anyone of the same sex. The only one he show strong emotions toward is Suelen and I actually like them together. They are funny and the actors have great chemistry together. Leandro seems to be a jerk and there didn't seem much of a role for Sidney.

Is the whole hour and a half about Roni, if not why don't you just sub the Roni parts?

Hi. I am here to say that Avenida Brasil ended and that I stopped subbing because I realized that nothing would happen. That the writer would just ignore Roni being gay. But it was a Globo novela. I do not know why I even got excited about the possibility of another gay storyline.

Well, whatever. Here is how it ended:
-- Roni, Suelen and Leandro became a threesome. They had a kid and they decided that both Roni and Leandro would be the fathers. --

I just hate how Globo can be so terrible and still be loved by my country. But I am not going to discuss that here. Bye bye.

There seemed to be a huge fan outcry over the show not having Roni get together properly with Suelen. Considering that, from everything I've seen, the show exhaustively detailed his relationship with Suelen, I guess I can understand why.
