I only heard about Jack dating a tutor or something of the sorts and had a crush on Cam. Jack dated a policeman? What happen there? Was he cute, how old was he? I looked up the actor who plays Cam, he 25 I believe, which is roughly where I guess Cam is suppose to be. Perhaps Jack likes them older. If Jack is either 18 or 19, that's not a giant age difference. I mean if it was my kid, I could see how that would be difficult to swallow. But at that age, he's gonna do what he wants to do, no matter what.
At least Cam seems to be a good boyfriend at the moment. (Hopefully he's off the drugs for good) I'm just glad it looks like he's behind Jack focusing on school and telling Jack that Cam and their relationship can't be enough. That Jack would make a great doctor and he should keep working on his future.

Jack is such a good guy, sweet, smart, kind, understanding, reliable, always willing to help those in need.
Ugh Frank (I think that's his name) is an annoying jerk, he's stirring up trouble for no other reason than to cause trouble. I don't think he cares one bit what kind of label or not that Cam calls himself, or about Jack's feelings. Nope I honestly think he doesn't care if they are together or if they aren't. He just wants to make trouble because it will be fun or entertaining.
I think Cam is fearful that there might be truth to Frank's words and Cam not wanting to hurt Jack or prove Frank right is throwing himself into proving how committed he is to Jack.

I don't understand the point of this storyline (maybe I'm missing something since I don't understand 100% what they are saying). First Cam was all "no labels, let's fall in love" and now he is all "maybe I'm straight and he is immature" ? mmm weird, what are they playing at (the writers)

I am really confused as well. They took months to put Jack and Cam together and gave them such a short 'honeymoon' period before breaking them up. I can accept that Cam realized they were both in very different phases of their lives and that he had to let Jack live out his college years freely. But I can't accept that Cam decided he was not in love with or even attracted to Jack. It's such a shame because I grew to like Cam and thought his character progression was organic and well-acted by Ryan Carter. He actually appeared to learn from his mistakes and turn into a decent person (unlike, say, Curtis - who was a thug to the end).
Throwing all that out the window, along with the great chemistry Ryan and Reuben Milner (Jack) share, is really incomprehensible.

Maybe their plan is Jack starts to hang out with his friend Charlie, someone who is the same age and at the same stage of life. And they start something and then perhaps is when the show thinks of bringing Cam back around for Jack.
Is Shortland like that with stories? Sudden and fly through at a fast speed?

This show makes sudden moves all the time it is confusing. I was starting to like the storyline and it ended? Why? I hope Cam will come back after some time, maybe Jack and Charlie will be together while Cam is away. I don't know I guess we have to wait and see.

Well it looks like it's the end of Jack and Cam. Ryan Carter who plays Cam posted on Instagram thanking the cast and crew and everyone involved. His character's final episodes played on screen last week. So it looks like he isn't coming back.

Cam may be gone permanently (sob), but Jack has a new - or is it old? - love interest in yesterday's episode. Despite a foul start, the story arc ended rather sweetly. Hope this will be the start of a long-term relationship for Jack. Now that his granddad is on the show - although maybe not for long - it will be interesting to see how he reacts to Jack's sexuality. I don't think it has been broached as yet.

Today's episode of Shorty confirmed my suspicions. Jack's grandpa Rocky flipped out when he discovered Jack was gay and dating Charlie. There was a moment earlier in the story where he questioned Jack's cousin Leroy about his stepdad who used to beat him, and asked whether the stepdad had touched Leroy inappropriately. My guess is that Rocky's homophobia stems from a childhood experience where he was sexually abused by an older man. It's very blatantly telegraphed.

Nothing specifically gay since Jack and Charlie got together (the latter is offscreen) but Jack did play a supporting role in the 25th anniversary ep and seems to be nursing a crush on Dr Stuart Neilson, one of the show's original characters, when he made a surprise return in the episode. Stuart was the show's first teenage heartthrob and was supposed to be gay but the show got cold feet (it was 25 years ago) and rewrote his scandalous romance to be with an older woman. Stuart later took up medicine and is now a doctor, which is an interesting parallel with Jack - except Jack is gay. I thought that was pretty neat. (The 25th anniversary was also great.)
