I would support renaming this as "Speculation" because I don't think it is clear to everyone who comes to this thread that most of what is here has not been officially confirmed and is/may be speculation. We don't all have the same grasp on English and I've seen lots of instances whether folks read stuff here that is speculation or guessing or just plain made up (but isn't clearly stated as such) and that stuff then get's re-posted on another site as a "spoiler" I would very strongly suggest titling this thread "DOOL Speculation and Spoilers" and respectfully ask that everyone make it clear in their posts that nothing has been officially confirmed. I know some folk have connections behind the scenes sometimes on shows but until DOOL excs officially confirm this stuff in the press, we have no way of knowing if ANY of the stuff discussed here will even happen. Of course we all get excited about new storylines and want to talk about the possibilities, but 9 pages of speculation just seems weirdly excessive to me and part of a disturbing trend.  Frankly, across the board (not just this Thread), it feels like "Spoilers" Discussion threads have moved from discussing actual spoilers to being All Speculation All The Time to the point where you can't tell one from the other and people are arguing about things that haven't happened and will never happen on a show but don't even realize they are doing so. As a frequent daily reader, it's exhausting trying to figure out which is which sometimes  Some speculation is just so wild and unsupported by anything resembling evidence it borders on blatant and conscious fabrication.  No offense to Blake, I'm sure everyone appreciates your inside info, but the execs (and even the regular soap bloggers) don't seem to have a lot of specifics about the DOOL gay characters. It would be great to have some kind of way to verify information just to know which stuff is more or less likely to actually happen. before folks just take stuff and run with it. I've never seen DOOL but I'd love to have another US based soap with gay characters. I'm still holding out hopes for Y&R to do something with Philip and Rafe  I don't mean to make anyone feel silenced, I just think it's too easy for "guessing" to become "fact" if we aren't constantly reminding each other and ourselves that we don't actually know very much at all about this storyline yet and EVERYTHING we think we know now, could change at any moment before the arc begins to air on DOOL proper. I don't take offense at all I totally get were your coming from I have always said in the beginning take EVERYTHING I say as hear say untill Days confirms it.Now that Chandler is going back to school they may go with Chad now nobody knows you probably won't hear nothing offical untill this storyline starts up.I'm NOT saying they will go with Chad they may still go with Will but you never know but keep in mind this Dylan was fired from the show because he didn't want to play Will as gay.But please whatever I post I want you to remember it's NOT OFFICAL JUST HEAR SAY. fixed quote tag |

I just found out that Chandler has signed with Days through the year 2013 unless he gets fired.So no he has not quite he's still under contract.

I didn't lecture anyone.. people can hate this storyline as much as they want. Funny how you say I didn't read HQ75's post more carefully when it's obvious you haven't read mine either. True, it was frustrating to read all the negtivity, and yeah, some posts contain JUST negativity, some posters refuse to even credit them for doing a gay storyline in the first place. I do find that frustrating. Also, I don't think it's helping that the gay community (not necessarily here, on this site, but on other sites) says stuff like "what's the point of doing a gay storyline at all, we just know they'll mess it up anyway." The thing is, yeah, maybe it will suck, maybe it won't.. we don't know yet. I don't think saying that is exactly helping the cause, I don't think that is helping us to get more gays on daytime. The writers get enough flack as it is from their conservative viewers in the first place. It would be good if the gay community could at least support them for doing a gay storyline in the first place. Listen, I do get what you are saying, I am scepitcal too. I really am. But I have decided to credit them for doing the gay storyline and stop hating it until it has acually started to air and until it potentially starts to suck. Like I said, this is just a suggestion, how I would do it. But everyone is of course free to feel and say whatever they like. I assume we all live in free countries, we have freedom of speech. You can hate this storyline as much as you want. All I said was how I would do it, and I made a suggestion, but people can still hate this storyline as much as they want to. But whatever, I do get it.. I take the hint. I've found somewhere else to discuss this storyline, so don''t worry. I won't come back until more spoilers pop up |

I think what people want it's a true gay storyline, you can like GTST (i'm not liking at all right now) but they are doing a gay storyline. For little time ATWT and OLTL did it too, but the last experiences we have are not encoraging, in some cases are actor's reservations in others the show's view.
Y&R is a good example of what a conservative soap did with a gay storyline, they wanted to buzz but they wanted the backlash, and in the end they had nothing at all.
Of course, people will complain, for example 90210 is well done it, but the screentime is minimum so people complain. American soaps have a bad record on gay storylines, and the way DOOL is telling that they are doing one is too vague and ambiguous that people get suspicious.
The fact that this thead has 9 pages, and the soap doesn't tell anything at all (there are a good bunch of people who think that Crystal Chappel will be the character who will be gay) express that there's an obvious interest on an american show doing a gay story, but apart from the fact that it seems true they are going to do a gay storyline, we don't know anything at all, so maybe you are right and there's no reason to be negative, but in fact there's no reason to be positive either.
And to be honest, if they are not going to do a real gay storyline, it's better not doing anything at all, if they are going the route to the big drama coming out to let vanish the gay character after that, it's better not doing anything, because they will recieve conservative backlash and gay backlash, and they are the last soap on ratings, so better do something at least interesting

I am closing this thread for a while until there are actual spoilers or official storyline info instead of hopes, speculation and conjecture.
Since I already watch the show and have for almost 25 years, I am pretty up to date with spoilers for DOOL. If I happen to miss a confirmed / official spoiler about this specific storyline, pls PM me and I will post it. For now, things need to cool down here.--- Update :I am re-opening the thread cause there is a new spoiler out. Please stay on topic & keep it about the show, the actors and the characters. Soap Opera Digest May Sweeps preview: Will/Gabi/Abigail/Chad - Will and Gabi contemplate taking their relationship to the next level. Contemplate being the operative word. He gets cold feet and doesn't follow through for reasons we'll find out much later. Kate tells Stefano that she thinks it's best to keep Abigail and Chad apart. I have to say that the whole Rafe robot storyline in the most stupids storyline I have ever watched just saying.As for when Will's storyline will start up from what I was told it will start up around the middle of to the last part of May.As for who will be Will's love interested I was told it looks like they will go with Ryan still.I really don't know if Ryan will be openly gay I don't know how that will play out I was also told that Chad could play a role in Will's coming out storyline just not sure how.

Hopefully they don't do it for 2 weeks and then put it in the back burner. Chad and Will are hardly on screen as it is. We only see them once or twice a month ATM. It took Chad 3 weeks to figure out that he wanted to move in with Stefano? I guess we'll have to wait till new spoilers come out, which probably won't be until mid-May. |

Thanks for posting that article, mrfixit477! I'm guessing it was written before the new spoilers came out. I honestly see no reason for Will to not have sex with Gabbi, a healthy, young, sexual guy.. I mean, why wouldn't he have sex with her? Why is he nervous? My guess is that it's because he's gay.

I also believe that will, sadly, happen for Will and Chad. Will has been genuinely concerned for Chad for sometime, and Chad has shown a deepening friendship with Will. I think the writers did this to make us believe that a relationship between these two will happen, but it'd be too hard to have 2 core cast characters in the teen circle get together who are guys. They have been trying to add more, with Dario and others, but you can only add so many to the main cast. As much as I want Chill to happen, I'm not getting my hopes up. |

Days is in a bad position in the ratings, Chill will give them a lot of buzz if they go that route, because they are two established characters from core familys, and that's something that never happened on a american soap.
Of course, they probably don't want to risk two loved characters if the story goes wrong, but in my opinion they don't have too much to lose

Ok I have some new information (a little not alot) Days has no plans what so ever to pair up Will and Chad they did think about it at first.But they want to bring in a new character who is comfortable with his sexuality and they though Chad couldn't pull that off.That's where the character of Ryan comes in Ryan is supposed to be openly gay.And very confident with himself and that's what attract Will to him I was told that Ryan will help Will come to terms with his sexuality.I'll keep you all posted as I hear more.
