This storyline is so dumb. Also, what happened to Sonny? He's lost all personality. Now he just wears suits and only cares about "Titan". What happened to the charming, fun Sonny? Terrible writing.

Not sure how true it is but there’s a rumor that CS has left Days.

It's now official. CS has indeed quit.

Wow, he quit. I wonder why maybe contract negotiation but we’ll never know.

Generally speaking it is either contract issues or actors getting other, better opportunities.

Recently CS insisted that he was staying but then his contract came up for renewal. Usually actors want guaranteed airtime and SLs. If that is not forthcoming then the talks break down. That is rumoured to be the case here.

Daytime Confidential and Soap Opera digest are saying it was CS choice to leave. This doesn't surprise me he should be try out for prime time and movies. He is a great actor.

He probably left similar to how all the young actors do when their first contract expires. Plus, he got the Star Wars gig (he could have done both) but decided to try and break into primetime. I suspect he'll be back in the future similar to Chandler, Freddie, Camila and Kate who are all in the same group and who all left to try to do the same. It's a rite of passage. I do think however, the shows hands are tied and we'll probably get a re-cast of Paul. Looking at Christopher's instagram and the people he worked closely with Will and Paul were still together.

I'm excited by the prospect of the exit scenes. I hope they keep him alive or keep it open for a return or re-cast. Chandler is amazing at emotional beats so he'll do well here. I'm sure this will be the majority of his Emmy Reel next year. I think Paul will be back, they'll probably put the call up in a few months and find someone Chandler has chemistry with. I think it's a good idea to deal with Will and Sonny's baggage now and have Sonny be there for him while he mourns Paul. Keep them together and have Paul show up once things start to settle. Will and Sonny need a shake-up, Paul made them relevant since 2014. Before that, they were on the back burner after getting married. They were front burning and monthly leads for January and February the next year. With the build up they did for Will and Paul it's not going to end and it's going to leave Will torn over both Sonny and Paul. I'm sure he's going to go into tailspin after Paul is off the table completely (leaves or dies) which will make the impact of him coming back that much stronger. Or they could have him leave and Will knowing he's out there, similar to Sami and EJ.

I do think CS will be back. He does have the talent to make the break but based off how many have made the transition from DAYS to prime time, his chances may be low but you never know unless you take the risk. Even if Will and Sonny are the "endgame" to DAYS, that endgame is 20 years away.

In the DC article it says they're not sure if they're going to recast or not. In other words, the show didn't let it slip nor release any a official statement themselves. At this point he's needed on the canvas so I can see this being a GW!Will/MM!Abby situation where we get a temporary replacement until CS eventually comes back. I think it's better to have Will and Sonny deal with their issues while having Chandler screen test with NuPaul's.

The thing is there is nowhere to go with Will and Sonny. I mean I'm fine with them being back-burnt to eternity living their HEA if we can get other popular LGBT characters on the show. Will is too important to exist solely inside a ship, so it's a given something will happen. Whether you believe it or not, we're in for another interloper and I can almost guarantee a Paul recast or return down the line. Paul is primed to take over Black Patch and is John's son, and is needed on the canvas; he's important rep. Christopher's popularity and the fan reaction at him leaving will get him better deals and stories if and when he does come back to DAYS, so at least he'll utilize him properly next time.

I'm really looking forward to the exit scenes since I think this could really be a character changing moment for Will and I know CM can pull it off. I mean this show had "John" Roman move on after Marlena died with Isabella who mothered Belle, only to go back to John/Marlena once she was deemed alive. The Sonny/Will/Paul triangle has the potential to be some pure soapy goodness that hits all the right beats and extends years.

Paul is not needed on the canvas.  He is a weak retcon, not a legacy character.  He was appealing because of CS.  Not his backstory.   John has a son who was born on screen.  Brady.  Who is finally abandoning Victor kiriakas.  There’s also Eric, Roman and Marlena’s son who John raised.  He also has a son in law, Shawn, who I would love to see come back and get involved.   

Marlena is Belle’s mother.  Isabella is Brady’s mother.  

Will and Sonny will of course run into more conflict.  They won’t have a happily ever after.   It might even be in the form of a Paul recast.  But I don’t see them making Horita the root for couple with CS leaving.  Sonny’s already being written more sympathetically. My guess is that what’s showing now is what was written after they found out CS was leaving.  I think the days of them throwing Sonny under the bus to make Paul look good are over.

Um I have two words for: Daniel Jonas.

There's no "endgame" couple it's who is left on the canvas at this point lol. I'm personally done watching until Will cheats again, which I'm sure will happen or we get a Paul recast (which is a near certainty). I do think Will and Paul are the superior pairing and if CS or a Paul recast comes back based on both TomSell's writing (before Dena) and now Ron's Horita seems like the long game for the show. Just because an actor leaves doesn't mean a pairing is over. Go back and watch 80s and 90s. Pairing Will with Paul made WilSon's faults obvious. The fan response will also help CS/Paul receive better writing and stories in the future, if he himself chooses to resume the role.

No one has to throw Sonny under any bus. He's been doing that to himself since Chandler was last in the role and Paul didn't exist so I doubt it'll stop there lol.

Saddened to hear the news, but it's kind of expected. Since WilSon were announced to be endgame, that left Paul at a loose end. The show could've invested in another gay character as his love interest, but as much as I hoped for that, it was always a long shot (to have 4 regular gay characters). So Paul was either going to be stuck with a revolving door of offscreen love interests (as he did during the show's ultra-homophobic phase), stuck in limbo or written off. The latter is ultimately best for CS since it frees him up for better things elsewhere. I'm sorry to see him go, but the silver lining (weak though it may be) is I get an hour of my time back since I've zero interest in watching Days unless Will has his own story independent of the unappealing Wilson pairing/Sonny.

If there’s a recast, CS won’t be able to come back unless they let go of the new guy, and days doesn’t usually do that.  

You may not see a difference in the writing for Sonny since 2012.   But I do.  And so do a lot of other people.  Go to any message board and read the audience opinion of Sonny in 2015 vs. now.  Sonny has been decimated by the writers in the past year, the same way Will was in 2015.  Both times the character was on the opposite end of a triangle from perfect Paul.  Coincidence?
