YES!!! He only confirms that there will be a gay storyline "this summer" (previously it was speculated the story would start airing at the end of May, not sure if this constitutes summer? Or does it mean it will start a bit later?). He doesn't say if it is his character or not, but hopefully it is. A celebratory vid: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFEXS2YcrrgThose of you lusting after Chandler above (heck, that includes me) will be pleased that this includes him shirtless. You'd probably also want to keep an eye out for that movie he mentions after the Days talk, 16-Love. His co-star said her highlight of shooting the movie was seeing Chandler with his shirt off, LOL. I'm guessing it is Will that will be gay since Chandler volunteered to speak up about this storyline. So I'm guessing that it might be Will or Will will be involved in the storyline also keep in mind Days tapes 5 to 6 weeks in advance so their getting ready to tape June scenes. Also Days takes a Summer break that last about 5 weeks that's round July or August.

Chandler Massey is so cute! He is so dreamy! OMG.. I really hope Will turns out to be the gay one ;D Anyways, this is good news.. just that they are doing a gay storyline, and that it's now confirmed! YAY! I really hope one of the producers or writers confirm it too. Because sometimes the actors are out of the loop, and you never know.. they still might ax it before it even begins. Don't get me wrong, I am happy Chandler came out and said they'll do it. Even though I'm cautiously optimistic until I hear something from one of the producers and/or writers. I wan it "official, official." If you know what I mean! lol

Yeah. I know, you're right And I think the reason the others are so tight lipped is because they WANT to do this storyline, they are committed. Which is why if they say anything too early it can only come back and bite them in the ass if they get too much negativity and too many complaints from conservative viewers and it might force them to ax it even before it starts. So I think they are being quiet because they are being careful, exactly because they really are committed and really want to do this storyline! Well, that's my theory anyway, I could be wrong.. Anyway, Chandler confirming it together with spoilers popping up is definitely a good sign!

I've been watching fan videos of Chill all day and OMFG.. this can be sooo good! I hope they at least play on their chemistry even if they don't couple them up. Will could for example hit on Chad only for Chad to dismiss him but only to later say they are still friends! That is my second option, my first option is of course CHILL!!! Yeah, I know it's not likely with the Ryan guy joining the cast, but whatever.. a girl can dream, can't she?

Why is there no smiley plastered with hearts on this board??? It helps a lot that he seems mature, rather well-spoken and charismatic and far from dumb (whether he's smart or not, I haven't webstalked him enough to come to a conclusion. LOL). His co-star, I have to say, comes across as attention-seeking though...

I think it's just that Chandler's been hinted at liking Chad for the past year with the lingering looks and concerns for his new bestie/step-uncle. I want ChIll so bad! They've got it going on, and I don't want no new guy getting in between them. Hopefully he's just being brought in to make Chad jealous so that they eventually get together. Unfortunately, if ChIll does happen, it would be weird, because there aren't anymore other teen characters to get together with Gabi and Abby... Oh well...

I am late chiming in on this thread but please remember the forum rules on posting spoilers. Forum rules can be found pinned to the top of each sub-forum. Also, a little less on telling others whether or not to be excited and more talking about the characters please, though there isn't really much to discuss at this point on the show since there is no actual storyline.

I wasn't telling people to be excited or not. I was just annoyed by the constant negativity and the "why do the storyline when they will fail anyway" kinda attitude. But yeah, I agree with you.. lets talk about the storyline, well.. there's not much to say yet. The reason we have posted spoilers is because spoilers was all we had to confirm whether or not the storyline would actually happen! Nobody confirmed or denied anything, well, that was until Chandler Massey actually did confirm it, so I guess it is official. I doubt people care about us posting spoilers BEFORE a storyline even begins. I mean, we had to know somehow if it was for real or not.. People will know what happens when websites start writing about the gay storyline anyway, like "Will is gay and **** will be his love interest." But whatever, now that we do know that there will actually be a storyline, maybe we could get our own space? Much easier to post spoilers when we have our own thread Anyway.. here is the channel for all the Chad/Will scenes so far: www.youtube.com/user/Bucks0427

Bonobochick, I think at this point the only thing we have to discuss are what would be considered spoilers. Perhaps when the story starts airing, we can relabel this thread as spoiler discussion and start another for general discussion (assuming we can get our own subforum for DOOL).
Words cannot express how excited I am now that we have confirmation of a gay storyline from Chandler. I also think/hope that they should exploit his chemistry with Casey by having a story where Will has been crushing on Chad (but it is not reciprocated). IMO the groundwork for this has already laid so it will not be a stretch for most of the (observant) audience. Ideally we should get a kiss out of this. (No, scratch that: ideally we should get a QaF-style sex scene out of this.) Once we have set up Will's sexuality, they can bring Ryan to town as his love interest. I would actually prefer Ryan to be out because playing two coming-out stories simultaneously is a bit excessive.
On a less pleasant note, I had originally thought there was quite a good level of support on the soap forums, with only a couple of dissenters. Unfortunately the detractors have multiplied as we get more confirmation of the story. One woman even presumed Chandler would not be happy playing gay ...

The part about Chandler not wanting to play gay I find untrue he seems really excited about this storyline.Dyan on the another hand was the one who didn't want tp play gay and remember before Chandler got the job he was told that Will could be gay and he was fine with it.

blake, I don't doubt Chandler is happy to play gay, as you say he seems quite excited and honored to be given the storyline and in the past he has been gay-friendly also (e.g. taking part in the NO H8 campaign). I was just reporting some of the homophobic attitudes encountered on the soap forums. It was a poster's opinion that Chandler can't be happy playing a gay boy. No doubt she is a member of the AFA and NOM.

No doubt she is a member of the AFA and NOM. I remember seeing a post like that on the SoapCentral boards. I was like, wow, this woman must be as conservative as they come. She didn't even know who the actor was. Completely speaking out of her butt. Regardless, the storyline hasn't started, and it's only been hinted at this point, there's still no concrete evidence unfortunately. Waiting patiently is painstakingly long, but time flies so fast sometimes, so who knows? I'm glad that Chandler came up from at the KCAs and announced that they are doing a gay storyline. May means summer, and May means getting a summer job, and the end of April means finals. If only I could just hop over these obstacles to just see this storyline! Anyone want to put up how the storyline might play out? That might tie me over till May, or some spoilers come up!

I know the feeling, josean06. I don't suppose we will have any concrete spoilers until May; I am assuming the story will start playing out towards the end of that month, as that was when the character of Ryan was supposed to air. So we may have a 2-month wait ahead of us before we see Will in a gay romance. However the coming-out s/l might start before Ryan arrives on screen.
In terms of speculation, I am not sure there will be a Chill storyline (although I would love it if there were). I have no doubt we will see Chad's reaction to Will's coming-out; at this point I am leaning towards a negative initial reaction but based on their friendship he will eventually come around (thereby lending credence to the bigoted viewpoint that this story aims to make homosexuality "morally and socially acceptable" - another opinion from the soap forums). Based on Chandler's comments that it will be a "powerful" storyline I assume he is referring to the reactions of Will's family and friends to his coming-out. I am not sure how they will deal with the absence of Will's father, Lucas - arguably an integral part of the coming-out process.
The question is, what's the impetus for Will's coming-out? Is it falling in love with Ryan? Or maybe Gabi asks him to have sex with her and he can't go through with it? I am rooting for the "Will misinterprets something Chad does/says and tries to kiss him" scenario, which sets off the chain of events. Of course it will be nice if, with the coming-out drama behind him, Will hooks up with the out-and-proud Ryan, setting off Chad's jealousy. They have an explosive blowout where Chad admits he does return Will's feelings and then they start ripping each other's clothes off and are in flagrante delicto when Ryan interrupts ... ;D

That would be the ideal way of progress of Will's coming out. I doubt it'll happen, but I guess you never know, and we can dream, right? According to Blake the writers know how popular Chill is, and it didn't sounds like they were going for Chill, but who knows.. maybe they'll change their minds? I think it's at least important that they know how popular Chill is!

Ok I got some news and this is quite serious my buddy told me that backstage sources are saying that NBC might not renewal Days when their contract ends in 2013.He said that the NBC executives have made it clear that they want to get out of the soaps because they are to expensive to produce. And that a game show or talk would be less expensive to produce they have untill the last part of 2012 to decided what to do.Also he said that he got word just last week that the president over ABC Daytime Brian Frons is really thinking about cancelling both All My Childern and One Life to Live.He said that sources are saying that Frons has already a some sort of reality show and talk show in the works for the fall of 2011.I told him what Susan Lucci said that she has received her filming schedule through Summer 2012 he said that does not mean a thing. He said that actress/actors are usually the last to know before it is made public I asked him has he heard anymore about the storyline for Days.He said that it looks like it will be Will when asked about Chad he said he wouldn't get his hopes for Will and Chad beging a couple he heard they would pair Will up with Ryan that's hear say he pointed out.He said soaps are not looking good right now and are in trouble I'll keep you posted as I hear more.

Honestly, I don't care who Will is paired with as long it's a good storyline, which for this awful show is a lot to ask. But really, that's really my only requirement.

I wonder whether the possible cancellation of the show will impact the decision of storyline. Will they try to play safe, keeping all male characters squarely in the lady's man role, or will they try to make a final statement with a gay character?
I guess that we will have to wait and see.

Honestly, I don't care who Will is paired with as long it's a good storyline, which for this awful show is a lot to ask. But really, that's really my only requirement. I think it's a god soap! I have been watching it for ten years though, that might explain it.. lol. Blake:Anyway, sad to hear about the possible cancellation. It doesn't surprise me, and I guess it's not all set in stone, so I still hope they won't do it. At least hopefully it won't get cancelled right away.. I would be totally happy with Will turning out gay and at least have a daytime gay storyline to watch for a year or two. It's not like Luke and Noah had that much longer.. like three years or something? Of course I wish it would last longer than a year or two, but it may not be in the case.. All I wish is that they do it rght, that they write a good storyline for him and Ryan, and I'll try to enjoy it while it last, because I know it might not last very long.. but thanks for the information, Blake! I appreciate any information you can give us, even if it is bad news.. About Chad and Will... I just hope they give Will a nice storyline and a good boyfriend in Ryan. I think this can have a lot of potential, I just hope they do it right. And I hope they won't throw away all of their chemistry, they don't necessarily have to get together, but it would be totally realistic for Will to come on to Chad and that's how he finds out he's gay. That's my ideal wish anyway, I doubt it will happen, but I guess it's just a wait and see kinda thing now!

Actually, come to think of it.. as much as I want Chill, it's kinda realistic that Chad's not gay.. he fathered a child, has had some girlfriends and he never seemed interested in another guy. And when it comes to Chill, it's always Will lusting after Chad. Yeah, they have great chemistry, not denying that, but it's kinda a one way street there. Chad has never really looked at Will the way Will is looking at Chad. I think Chad only sees Will as a friend, but it was always clear that Will saw Chad as something more imo.
Trust me, I want my Chill.. but Will being gay and Chad being straight is actually very realistic. Plus, it would be stupid of the writers to couple up the only teen guys in the soap. Then what about the teen girls, who will they go for? lol.. I won't say no to Chill for sure, but I can see why the writers won't go for them, so I do understand it..

Anyone remember this scene from somewhere? "I like you Chad." "I like you too." "No, I mean I like you." *Chad looks confused* "Yeah, like that..." That would be so awesome! Although ripping each others clothes off works for me too!

It reminds me of what Luke said to Noah ^^ Probably one of my favorite scenes, mine was a little off, but you got it! IF only it happens. BTW, Days has been renewed, that's the big surprise! They've been sinking along with OLTL and AMC. A year ago or so, Days was right behind B&B, and stayed there for awhile. Now it's been sinking lower than we know. It's been in the bottom two for the past two weeks. Fortunately, they've been renewed for two more years, and I'm guessing it's the swan song of the show. They've got two years to make the best storylines, and I'm glad they're choosing a gay one for one of them. If they can pull off being in the top three again, they might have chance by then. But I'm not holding my breath, unfortunately, soaps are slowly dying out. Y&R and B&B are doing alright, but even their numbers and slowly going down.

I do worry about the soaps. The way things are going now, it looks like in two years' time we will be left with just three soaps (Y&R, B&B and GH), if even that. I think B&B has the best chance of surviving as it is only a half-hour show (so its budget must be less) and it has such a wide international audience (I read that only 2 or 3 million of B&B's worldwide audience of 26 million are in the US, though that might not figure into CBS network's thinking).
I know many people are puzzled by how Y&R is No. 1 but I think most of that audience is surviving on goodwill from the old days. Y&R is now a shell of its former shelf, but back in the day it was fantastic. It was the most relatable soap because they did not do outlandish storylines like body swapping, underground worlds, clones, witchcraft, mad scientists, etc. It was very old school soap; storylines developed at a realistic pace (although many people felt it was too slow) and sometimes it took years for a story to unfold. It's true people have less patience these days and wanted the stories to be faster-paced, but the soaps have gone completely overboard and speed through them now, often skipping crucial beats because they want to get to the big payoff which they think is the only thing audiences are interested in watching. For Y&R especially this is a major problem; that and hitching their wagon to the outlandish storytelling train. In the last couple of years they have had more doppelgangers (identical twins or surgically-altered) than they did in the preceding forty years. They also had a reputation for hiring non-conventionally attractive actors, because they were more concerned with the acting talent (no surprise that Y&R often used to sweep the acting Emmys). Now I don't know what their casting department is thinking of. The worst actress in all of daytime is being regularly brought back to Y&R.
