It was a great episode ... that was ruined the last couple of minutes . I understand that the writers had to write Ian's character off because he decided to leave the series, but they could have come up with a resolution more realistic. I'm sure Ian (unless he was a closeted psychopath ) would have never done what we saw. Poor Kyle Riabko must have hated the way the series resolved the exit of his character...

Yeah, the ending ruined an otherwise good episode. We finally see them become a couple and it's over two minutes later. I think the target of the disappointment has to be Kyle, though, and not the writers. The writers didn't exactly have many options when Kyle decided to leave mid-season. You shouldn't make a committment to a season of a show if you're not going to see it through. I hope we get an explanation from Kyle at some point. He made a lot of new fans with this show and he disappointed all of them.

I get that Kyle Riabko was sadly leaving and they needed a reason for them to break up. Because Ian and Teddy were so great together. But this just sucks, this is not how Ian would have reacted to Teddy being closeted. I know that he is crazy about Teddy and wanted to be out and open with him. And he's young and his emotions got the better of him and he did something very very stupid.
But Teddy was coming so far in such a short time with Ian's help and he liked him so much. He trusted him and he really helped Teddy feel comfortable in his own skin. And now poor Teddy is adrift because he probably feels stupid, used, and that it wasn't worth it.
Though great choice to have Rolling in the Deep by Adele right before Teddy finds out.
Ugh Ian needs to come back and beg for Teddy to forgive him because they were great together until that really bittersweet moment at the end.

Well, while I think everyone agrees that this was a bad way of ending Ian's story, I'm not sure if anyone has a better idea of how to end it.... With the way the mid-season episode ended, there wasn't any way to have Ian quickly leave the show aside from a sudden betrayal... so it was really either this or having Ian already cheating on Teddy like 5 min after they got together.....

I know it would have been horrible but killing off Ian would have been more realistic!!! It sucks and I would love to ask Kyle Riabko why he decided to leave mid-season. Don't actors have contracts for a certain time period that would stop an actor from leaving??

True, but they could had Ian tell Teddy his dad got a great job and they were moving. And they could have them do the long distance relationship that wouldn't work out.
Maybe the writers were a bit annoyed that Kyle wanted to leave to purse other options. So they wrote his leaving as less then favorable to everyone involved.

Don't actors have contracts for a certain time period that would stop an actor from leaving?? Recurring actors don't have a contract, while the main actors do. All recurring actors do is show up when the show production calls them. While it would've been nice to keep seeing Ian, it was Kyle's decision, and not the crew and production. Production can easily write off an actor, regardless of their stature on the show. Look at Lori Loughlin, she's gone next season (if there is one), she had no say in it. I also thought that he left pretty abruptly, but it was as good as the writers could make it in such a short time. It'll be hard to explain Ian's lack of attendance in school, but I don't think viewers will care, I mean look at all the other characters, they were written off, but faded into the background somehow.

I bet we'll learn that Ian has transferred to a different school or something.
I would have preferred something completely unbelievable, yet comically grotesque. Like Ian stands up in the convertible in celebration and a branch takes off his head. Or Teddy and Ian are hang gliding when a sudden burst of wind sends Ian soaring over the zoo. He lands in the tiger's den with a tragic result.

Well, that was bittersweet . We got an unprecedented 15 minutes of Teddy's story , and they decided to wrap it up with a betrayal. Damn. "You can still trust me, Teddy." Uh, what? Still, it was nice to get better insight into Teddy's mind through his conversation with Silver. But, hey, at least Teddy is out now.

This is the best story they can come up with to end Ian's presence!? No angst, no huge confrontation and no regret? Too bad it is not a daily soap, in which case they can drag on the breakup story forever.
Oh well, Ian has a very good run at Teddy. Gonna miss you!
I don't blame Kyle Riabko wanting to leave the show to pursue greater opportunity. I remember Jared Padalecki leaving Gilmore Girls and becoming a bigger star by joining Supernatural.

It's a pity that Kyle decides to leave, because Ian was a very enjoyable character

Well my first impression of Marco is a good one. I think he could be good for Teddy, Marco seems to be out and proud and comfortable about who he is. And I think someone like that could be good for Teddy and I bet it doesn't hurt that he's cute.

I really liked Marco. He was very cute! And it seemed like they shared some chemistry as well. I think Marco, as a more athletic guy, is more Teddy's type. Ian was very good for him, he was open and proud and someone Teddy felt he could be himself with. He even encouraged him (ok, blackmailed him), to come out. I think Ian was right for Teddy at that time, and Ian was a good first boyfriend, but not as a long term boyfriend.
Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that Kyle Riabko left, because I think this storyline has a lot of potential! Of course I still miss Ian, and I liked Teddy with Ian.. but I also liked him with Marco.

This is really cool. So happy the writers decided to introduce Marco this quickly. Normally the writers would have chunked the gay character one side if the other half is gone or left. Great that Marco is straightaway push into Teddy's life. Love it!! And I do agree, their storyline has the potential (as far as the spoilers go).
And I pretty much find them more compatible in terms of appearances. And Marco is so damn cute when he smiled (a super shallow note). It's like once he saw Teddy, he is like happy to see him. And I like Silver, I think every gay male needs a "f*g hag" like her. Hahhaa. And I totally love their look when Teddy let off that it is a guy that gave him a heartbreak esp. Silver's one. Hahaha.
And personally, I feel that Marco could be a better boyfriend. He gave me the impression that he isn't so pushy and preachy about being gay. He is comfortable in his own skin and I think he is like the type that wouldn't push someone to do something he or she doesn't like. But of course, this is just based on the gut feeling and the less than 1 minute impression I saw from the clip.
Otherwise, I STRONGLY approve this pair. But I'm still pretty psyched about the upcoming Spring break episode.

harmonium, I completely agree with everything you said! Teddy and Silver have the best scenes together. I love them as friends! And yes, Silver is a great hag I think Marco is a better fit for Teddy, more his type. And he's hot/cute as well BTW, Teddy's service motion is ALL wrong though. That is not how you serve in tennis! lmao.. you're supposed to throw it up in the air, not straight ahed.

Yes, he was just using his forehand not his serve, but to honest that it doesn't matter when your tennis comentor usually mistakes all the strokes (he is really really terrible, and the guy is comenting tennis on tv for years).
Marco is really cute, and the spoilers are promising. I liked Ian, and i would be upset if he were writers decision to writte him off, but that's not the case

I think it is great that they introduced Teddy's new love interest so quickly, but I wonder if it is because all the storylines they planned for Teddy was with his love interest, so they needed to replace Ian quickly in order to continue with those storylines...

LOL, I was just saying "That's not how you serve in tennis!".
But Marco is seriously attractive: that delicious combination of cute/hot. (Did everyone see those pics that Bonobochick linked to?) He and Teddy will make a stunning couple. I am so rooting for them to have a love scene (although I suspect we will have to content ourselves with kisses - but hey, at least the show doesn't hold back on that count, unlike a certain other CW show).
While I enjoyed Teddy's meet-cute with Marco, I did think it was highly improbable that everything fell into place so quickly (almost immediately) after his breakup with Ian. I was also unimpressed by Teddy's three minutes of screentime this week, especially since (highlight to read spoiler) he doesn't show up in the descriptions of the next two episodes; we may well not see him again until the spring break episode with Tripp (Alan Ritchson).
I am liking Silver's friendship with Teddy. So glad we did not have to endure a "OMG! How could you do this to me, we dated and now you're into guys? Ew!" s/l with them; they're so much better as friends and I love how supportive Silver is of Teddy.

Ian who?
....
kidding. of course haven't forgot him yet, but Teddy meeting with Marco sure has softened the blow! i'm expecting good things - hopefully they have enough chemistry to rival the Teddy x Ian chemistry. xD
also, i've been watching the entire show ever since i heard about Teddy being out, so i'm following all the storylines. and i actually kinda really like the Naomi falls for a nerd plot so far.

I'm liking Marco, even though we've only seen him for a minute. He's a cutie. The only question I have is now that Teddy is out and the whole school knows (or at least I'm assuming, considering that random guy making a joke) shouldn't it be an issue with the fact that his dad's famous? When this stuff happens in real life it's all over the tabloids. Some random person from the school would have called a magazine to make a few bucks. I wouldn't mind seeing that as a story line and see Teddy's reaction, not to mention his dad's.
Just a thought
