Yes, for some reason I want to say 25 as well, which makes me wonder if anybody can remember it being explicitly mentioned on the show.

You won't believe it, but I've seen Dennis yesterday (and the actor who plays Mike). I had to go through the studios in the Coloneum for work related reasons, and there he was, sitting outside in the sun talking to a women I didn't know. How I would have loved to go and have a chat with him, but I was with a colleague and my apprentice, so I had to play it cool. My apprentice was screaming 'Hey, that's Roman from the show', and I was like 'ah yes, you're right'. lol You see, I meet actors all the time, but they're like colleagues, so you kinda treat them as if they're 'normal' people. But this time it was a bit different because Dennis is someone I would love to get to know (for obvious reasons). ;-) He's got longer hair again and was looking pretty much the same as on screen. As we continued walking, the actor playing Mike (I don't have a clue about his real name) just walked by talking on his cell phone. But as I said, I was working and had to continue through the premisses. We passed them once again a bit later, but nothing had changed, Dennis still talking to the girl, Mike still on his cell phone. Maybe, the next time I'll be alone and get a chance to talk to them. :-)
We also passed through the set of 'Unter Uns', a soap I've never watched, but my apprentice knew exactly who's living in which house, also wondering since when there's a hair dresser in one of the houses. I guess I made her a very lucky apprentice yesterday. ;-)

You lucky devil you!!! As I said, he looked exactly like on screen. He was wearing some kind of beige trousers with a matching sweater (long sleeves). I don't know if it was his private clothes or for the show. Mike was wearing jeans and a dark t-shirt with short sleeves (I think). I don't even know if they were filming that day or if there was another reason why the 2 of them were there because I thought they were still having some kind of summer holidays. But I guess time flew fast as usual and they have already started filming again.

Isn't he hilarious? What a fun read. I hope we get to hear from him again. (I also enjoyed him in an Einer gegen Hundert clip I watched this weekend on youtube). I was very surprised to read that Deniz was hired specifically for Vanessa only in that ID & JA don't have that type of chemistry. They're ok as friends or adversaries but love? I would have thought that if that was the direction TPTB originally wanted, they would have hired an actor that has sexual/romantic chemistry with JA, like the "actor" who plays Ben. If that original game plan was shot in the foot by the fact that TPTB cast a great love interest for Roman and a terrible one for Vanessa all in one, then that explains the months of 'what kind of fuckery is this?" of DeVa as well as the directionless of all 3 characters after DeVa split up. I just hope TPTB know now not to revisit that terrible era. Not only did the audience not deserve that shite, neither did ID or JA. I haven't seen the game show clip yet. Thanks for reminding me. I was very surprised to read that as well; never expected that. Don't think any of us did... They have no sexual chemistry at all. DeRo on the other hand has loads! Like you said, an actor like 'Ben' would have been a better pick for that. (Although perhaps we wouldn't have had DeRo then ) I loved reading his thoughts about Deniz and Roman and how he doesn't hope they get back together because Roman deserves a real man. ;D I still like DeRo, but I think he's right when it's about them as a real couple. Deniz just isn't mature enough (yet ) and talking isn't their strongest feature. I still can't believe they wanted DeVa in the first place and DeRo was just a way to get there! Boy, have they been wrong about that...

Exactly, Amber. Maybe, if we didn't complain, then maybe DeVa would still be together on the show. I still can't believe they wanted DeVa in the first place and DeRo was just a way to get there! Boy, have they been wrong about that...

It boggles the mind that they really wanted DeVa. If DeVa was what they wanted, why on earth did they think that THAT would be a good way to start out a love story (or whatever it was supposed to be?). Even if the plan changed or not (I mean, ever since Deniz's deeds being revealed what little that has been there was been Deniz with Roman and not Deniz with Vanessa). If DeVa was at any point what they planned, what were they thinking? Forget chemistry, what were they thinking on a story level? *shudder*
I do love that he loves Ringo ;D

I have to agree with Lola. Why bother having Deniz be attracted to Roman and come out? Indulgence? Maybe the writers hold the view that sexuality is fluid and that once Deniz found soulmate with Vanessa all would be well. They obviously never planned Deniz to be a long term gay character or to continue with Roman.
But doesn't knowing the fact that Deniz and Vanessa were always supposed to be together make everything that happened with the Deniz/Roman break up now make sense? The story played out on screen exactly as it was supposed to be viewed by audience. We never Deniz confused about his sexuality after he was with Roman. He just up and fell in love with Vanessa one day and he never gave Roman another thought until that day he kissed Roman out of nowhere.
The unfocused writing that followed Deniz and Vanessa's relationship suggests that the writers were at a lost at what to do once they go together, hence the jealous irrational Roman. I don't have a clue where they are going from here, but I'm not counting on anything much other than teases.

The story played out on screen exactly as it was supposed to be viewed by audience. We never Deniz confused about his sexuality after he was with Roman. He just up and fell in love with Vanessa one day and he never gave Roman another thought until that day he kissed Roman out of nowhere. Not for me. Knowing this now answers some of the questions about why TPTB went in the direction of DeVa from DeRo but I still think it was bad, nonsensical writing overall when the execution took place. TPTB wrote the "diversion" pairing so well (I mean it won awards and critical acclaim!!) that when the "endgame" coupling came about, it was less than satisfying because to me it wasn't written even remotely well. So while it may have been the initial game plan to have DeVa be the actual couple in love, the execution was lacking in them getting and being together believably to me (not to mention, why have Deniz talk about how he prefers a man's touch over a woman's touch if all along TPTB were going to have him be head over heels in love with a woman?). Stupid! Plus, IMO, I don't think the JA & ID sold that the characters were in love with each other so while it may have been written in the dialogue that was the case, I never saw it onscreen. Maybe some people saw DeVa as a couple in love but I am not one of those people and that's another reason why I didn't care for the pairing. Much like couples on other shows that I have watched in the past, seeing two characters say "I love you" to each other constantly but not actually seeing that the characters are in love doesn't make me a believer in the pairing being a love story. Also, sometimes an original endgame pairing doesn't work as well as hoped or isn't as popular with the audience (hey Dawson's Creek, hey The OC) as a secondary/divergent pairing or random hook-up (I know the latter is how Sonny/Brenda got started on GH) and to me, that's when TPTB need to reassess the original plan.

ETA, Gabi posted the interview on her blog in German: gm1956.wordpress.com/2008/09/08/nicht-verpassen/ Ever since I read that part of DG's interview its made me crazy! Why would they have this whole DeRo storyline just to set up a DeVa storyline? It makes no sense to me. What could they have been thinking or is this just the way AWZ writers write? I just don't get how setting up the DeRo love story sets up to make a compelling DeVa love story. I mean, how offbase can you go? This is Swisslady85's latest DeRo music video. And it shows to me how clearly the way they wrote the DeRo, DeVa storyline and the set up to DeVa was so crazy!

I'm mostly shocked how DG's take on the relationship is so close to some of the complaints I have uttered about them on occasion (like that he remembers them barely ever really talking to each other). Who knew that DG was that much of a cynic.

Boy is completely made of win ;D
I wonder if they've not been married for a while, though. He was talking about that first kiss with Igor and that he'd forgotten to take his ring off for it, and that's been a while now (unless he's talking about a different ring, which seems unlikely after the proud waving around of it earlier).
Anyway. I just want to give him lots of hugs. He's too freaking adorable!

The sound was very hard to follow - there's still bits I'm not catching either. Uhm, highlights... *pastes from IJ* (this is a random selection, and very approximate because of the sound quality) Q: [Some variant on "What's the kissing like, isn't it weird/uncomfortable/a lot of effort?"] A: That was one of the first things I told Igor - "If I ever hear about you doing an interview where you said kissing me cost you a lot of effort, I'm going to bash your head in." Q: [Something like "but it's easy for you, right?"] A: See, that's another one of those common assumptions - "oh, it must be easy for Grabosch, all he has to do is kiss that cute Dolgatschew"... but if I didn't like Igor, as a person, then it'd be more difficult. Q: So what does your husband do, is he an actor too? A: *laughs* Oh good heavens, no. I snatched myself a psychologist. I think I needed one at the time. Q: Isn't it difficult, I mean, you're pretty busy with the show, how often do you see each other? A: Yes, I'm hardly ever home. I mean, sometimes when I know we'll be shooting late on Friday night, I can't exactly fly to London on Saturday morning and extend the weekend to Friday afternoon. Yes, well, it's annoying. I just force him to come here a lot *g* [preceded by talk about costumes - funny scarves, bare midriffs, sparkly ballet trousers, etc.] Q: Did you ever argue about the costumes so you could wear something less camp? A: That's what I'm trying to tell you - I think camp is totally great. If it hadn't been for the people who took to the streets in dresses and drag, we wouldn't have the rights we have now. And anyway, I find the obsession with drawers pretty silly - I mean, I know we like to look for little drawers we can shove people into, but the thing about concepts like that is... it's much more interesting to have some diversity. [Aside] Man, I wish I'd written this stuff down. Q: Did you ever get a hard-on from kissing [Igor]? A: *hilarious face* I knew this question would come. Erm, let me think. I got close, once - it was our first kiss and I was maybe possibly tempted to have a reaction from it, but, you know, I was wearing white trousers and the entire team was there, so... they were two feet away from us and Igor and I were sitting there holding hands and I'd forgotten to take off my ring, and... [he goes off on a long tangent about what the camera crew were doing here... I couldn't catch all of it, and also I was distracted because he's too cute ] ETA: Obviously this was partly the interviewer's doing, but I found it interesting how DeRo-centric the interview was, and that it was talked about like it was still a current storyline. Hmmmm.
