Ya, the end of BBC Switch sucks... I do agree that the outlook does not look good right now...
The newest episode would not end in anything good for Alex.... but at least we see Alex on screen.... I still don't get why he is friends with Taylor...

Doesn't the all-knowing Taylor realize her only friend is gay? Or is she trying to "cure" him or some such nonsense? Alex really didn't look into this Kelly chick (for a moment I'd hoped Kelly might be a guy's name as it is in America, e.g. Kelly Blatz, but I don't know any British guys named Kelly).
I don't know what they have planned for him besides unearthing Jack's secret, but I agree they're running out of time to do anything more if this is to be the last season (as it may well be given the closure of BBC Switch at the end of the year). They may be lucky and get recommissioned as a weekly half-hour drama, as the episodes currently air on Saturdays on BBC2.

It was an anomaly to begin with that The Cut was viewable from outside from the British Isles; the rest of the BBC programming is geo-blocked. I guess someone at BBC finally latched onto the glitch and "fixed" it so only Brits (and the Irish) can watch it. Then again, I suspect much of its overseas audience only learned of this show thanks to the supposed gay storyline between Alex/Stephen, and since the show doesn't seem inclined to follow through on that score, it probably doesn't make any difference now.
If there is any interest I would be willing to write a mini recap of the week's episodes. I will still watch it for the other stories (and whatever they do with Alex's). Unfortunately I don't have the technical capability to make clips or anything like that, I'm afraid.

No problem. I'll recap it at the weekends, so that it's a bit fuller that way (rather than have two-line recaps every weekday).
ETA: Obviously, I'll come in and post if something truly earth-shattering happens during the week, e.g. if Alex and Jack have sex on a Tuesday I won't wait till Saturday to recap it!

Okay, here's my recap of the week. I'm splitting by Alex's story and everyone else's.
Alex: Wanting to investigate Jack's connection to the death of Frankie's brother, Alex agrees to Taylor's request that he ask her friend Kelly out on a date if she gets Jack's keys from him (Taylor's uncle Mack has a set of keys since he is Jack's landlord). Taylor accompanies Alex on his mission but soon gets bored and leaves, after which Alex finds evidence that Jack and Andrew, the boy who ran over Frankie's brother, are one and the same. Alex sees Jack chatting with Frankie and warns him to leave her alone. When Jack questions him, Alex responds with the question "is Jack your real name?". Jack is clearly stunned and runs off. Later we see Jack return to his place and finds it ransacked (by Alex) and in a fury trashes his computer. Meanwhile, Taylor is having fun at Greg's expense, bullying him about his poor academic performance, until he snaps and waves a knife at her. Alex manages to talk Greg into putting down the knife, saying they don't need a repeat of what happened to Olive. Greg runs out and Taylor rushes sobbing into Alex's arms.
Other stories: Mack tries to talk Marla into aborting her baby and driving a wedge between her and Elliott. Elliott and Marla reconcile, however, and they decide to keep the baby. Mack is furious and says she can't have the baby under his roof, so Marla says fine, she'll leave with Elliott.
Cameron confesses to Catherine that he may be in love with Frankie; he is bemused to see her hugging Jack (immediately prior to Jack and Alex's confrontation). Miss Hathaway manages to talk Catherine's mother into letting her go back to Radio 1.

Ok people I think I may have spotted the guy our Alex is going to go for.
Greg
Think about it, Greg made the comment about him being gay at the party and seems visibly disgusted by him (a homophobic homo?) and now Alex is the one trying to appeal emotionally to him. I think it really works. Also Greg fits in nicely with the group of people Alex is with more so than Jack ( though may i say a love triangle wouldn't amazing ( or even a square (Stephen!)

Sorry, alxect, but I think you're wrong.. I think Alex will hook up with Taylor, to my disgust.. Ugh. It's not even the fact that it's with a girl (though I would prefer if he hooked up with a boy, obviously), but it's the fact that it's with TAYLOR! :S
I doubt the writers are going to pay any attention to Alex's gayness now when they have barely mentioned it all season. Sorry, I know I'm pessimistic, but I just can't help it.

Your wrong overtherainbow! I reallllllly think that alex's gayness is a massive factor to the to the storyline this year. You missed an integral part to the plot development, Taylor made him swear to ask her friend Frankie out and he seemed visibly uncomfortable with the idea. They constantly mention his ambiguous sexuality and Taylor is always teasing him about begin hung up on Stephen. They would not have mentioned his sexuality if they were not going to make him gay.

It has been generally assumed that when BBC Switch ends, The Cut would also be ending with it...
Well, I still think that Jack is acting a little too "good" even with everything that Alex has done...
just wondering, should we be avoiding any spoilers until the weekend recap?

Here's the recap for Monday, discuss away! Quite a bit of action for Alex.
Alex arrives back to Jack's to take his stuff and move out. Jack is waiting for him and asks how he could betray his trust like this. Alex snarks that Jack obviously didn't trust him enough to tell him the truth about his identity. Jack says he never ordered Alex to leave, but Alex retorts that Jack just wants to keep him close so that he won't spill his dirty secret. He adds that if Jack won't tell Frankie that he ran over her brother, then he (Alex) will. He shoves Jack on his way out. Jack is remarkably calm throughout the exchange but he looks very defeated at the end. [Sidebar: I had rather hoped Jack would try to seduce Alex as a way of keeping his mouth shut about his true identity. No such luck.]
Alex's "heroic" rescue of Taylor from Greg is the talk of the cafe: a reversal if there ever was one from his previous status of a pariah for "killing" Olive. Kelly (the girl Taylor wants Alex to go out with) is waxing poetic about his bravery and Luke tries to interject "you do know he's gay" but is interrupted as Alex arrives to the cafe. Before Alex can warn Frankie about Jack's true identity, Kelly drags him off to a table for two. The episode ends here but Alex looks unhappy. [They may not give him a boyfriend but I very much doubt they will turn Alex straight.]
The other story was the McKinnons. Mack tries to talk Marla out of leaving home but goes about it the wrong way, comparing her with her mother and saying Elliott can't afford her luxuries. He says she'll be back before sunset. Marla's response is to throw her house keys at him. Because of all this drama, Mack ignores Ruby Hathaway who's brought Taylor home after her ordeal with Greg.

Ya... I'm really not sure what to say about what went wrong with Alex today... sometimes, I really wonder if the writers are trying to make him back into a straight character who only kissed Stephen out of a moment of confusion....

Recap of the week since Monday:
Alex doesn't manage to tell Frankie the truth before Kelly drags him off to the park where they start making out. Kelly asks if he's ever kissed a girl before and Alex replies "of course" before snogging her again. Their makeout session is interrupted when Luke produces a photo of "skanky" Frankie at the chip shop with an unidentified boy. Alex immediately sees that it's Jack and he obviously hasn't told Frankie the truth. He ditches Kelly to rush back to Jack's place, which is empty because Jack and Frankie are still wandering the streets. Alex does find Jack's passport which he'd been trying to burn and it confirms that Jack's real name is Andrew Cromwell. He takes it to Frankie's flat but only her mother is home and she's terrified of strangers so she won't open the door to Alex. He drops the passport into the mail slot. Meanwhile, Frankie pours her soul out to Jack: how she's afraid her mother will be institutionalized and she'll be sent into care, and how she feels like she's competing with her dead brother for their mother's attention. Jack hugs Frankie and the expression on his face can be only described as rather creepy.
Other stories: Taylor seems to be using her ordeal with Greg to get close to Ryan Hathaway. Cameron realizes his feelings for Frankie. Marla and Elliott face even more adversity when Elliott's coach kicks him off the swim team, which means an end to Elliott's only source of earnings, his competition winnings. However, he doesn't tell Marla about this, instead confessing to Ruby Hathaway about the pregnancy. Ruby offers to let the two of them stay the night in her spare room. Marla is suspicious of staying with the Hathaways since they're her father's tenants. Elliott ends the week by proposing to a stunned Marla.
[Several theories for Alex's passionate snogging of Kelly: 1. The Cut has indeed been screwing with us all along, and never intended to have a gay storyline for Alex. The gay kiss with Stephen was just a ratings stunt. 2. The Cut did intend to have a gay storyline but reworked it because the show is probably ending and the writers did not feel they could do justice to it in the remaining time. 3. Alex is actually bi, not gay, and his kissing Kelly is perfectly real as was his kissing Stephen. 4. Alex is gay, but needs shelter for the night since he's left Jack's flat and he's kissing Kelly in hopes that she will take him in for the night.]

Well, it is not just the fact he need shelter, he may just wanted to "prove" to other people that he is straight... as seen in the scene, that place is not exactly empty...
I have to say, I thought that Alex was overacting about Jack until that creepy expression.... hopefully, they will continue the Jack/Frankie/Alex storyline... at least that mean we will get more Alex...
I'm not very happy with the Kelly kiss either... If Alex is gay, there is really no good reason for the writer to make him kiss Kelly... I really hope they sort out Alex in the time they have left... is there really no words regarding what will happen to The Cut after BBC Switch closes??

It sucks that they decided against making a gay storyline for Alex. Still, can't say that I'm really surprised. I was afraid this would happen, and when it went longer and longer without anything really happening.. I just knew it. Whatever. I don't care about the show anymore. Kinda glad I can't watch it with the direction it's going.
