Not much happening on the gay front yet.. At least Alex got a bit more screen time this week, and it's clear he's still struggling with what happened.
He bumped into Luke, and we found out Luke is a scheming guy, just like Alex.. I think there's a chance they will get together. But of course nothing is certain yet. The only interaction they've had was Alex bumping into him, and it was actually Luke who said "get lost Alex", when Alex tried to pick up the papers.. Luke's been trying to sell the course work, to get money to buy a new car. And he kept calling it his "baby", so everyone though he had a REAL baby on the way, but that was before Elliot had a talk with him and realized it was just a car he wanted. He sold the course work to get enough money to buy it! But of course the new teacher caught him and he got detention! lol

If anyone watch episode 21 in the second series and looks very closely at about 3:38 What is Alex thinking about? =P

If anyone watch episode 21 in the second series and looks very closely at about 3:38 What is Alex thinking about? =P LOL.. I guess he was either thinking Elliot was hot, or, and this is probably my best guess, he was thinking how cool he was, looking up to him and kinda wanted to be like him. You can see he's copying his pose there for a bit!

OMG.. I felt so bad for Alex when he ran after Stephen. He didn't want to see Alex which is understandable of course, but alex needs someone to talk to. And Stephen even said it wasn't Alex's fault. I guess Stephen is just being selfish again "Olive was the only one that listened. You can talk to me about it whenever.. just talk to me!" Alex totally broke my heart this episode. I feel so bad for him. Poor guy

While I really love Alex, I think that Stephen's action is understandable... He is having a hard time dealing with Olive's death himself... it is not too surprising he would want to stay away from one of the biggest reminder of the death....
Someone else on the official blog said it, but I agree... I think Stephen don't think that is i Alex's fault because he blames himself for Olive's death...
The only thing I found weird is that aside from Alex and Stephen, the rest of the cast didn't have a hard time dealing with Olive's death... I would thought there would be more scenes where people would be doing something, and suddenly being reminded of Olive...

For some reason, the Alex/Stephen scene earlier this week rang false to me. I know Alex is in love with Stephen and it makes sense that he would approach him, but what reason was there for Stephen to tell Alex it wasn't his fault Olive died? Now I'm no psychology major, but it seems to me that someone who has so much difficulty dealing with Olive's death (in today's ep he lashed out physically at the new cafe owner) would not be inclined to relieve Alex of blame in the situation.
Also we learned that Taylor (stereotype much?) is paired with Alex for the biology project and they didn't show any discord between them, considering how she originally reacted to finding out who he was. I understand that the cast is quite big this season and part of the show's attraction is the brevity of its webisodes, but they really need to spend more time fleshing out some of the characters and their stories. The leaps between story beats are particularly severe in some characters' storylines, including Alex.
I do, however, like all of the new characters. I'm wondering if either Jack or Luke is meant to be Alex's love interest (if indeed he gets one this season). Some commentators have suggested that Jack was admitted to the sanctuary for reasons related to homosexuality, while others think Luke's scheming nature is more similar to Alex's. I don't mind either one as long as they develop the story at a reasonable pace ONSCREEN.

Again, I have to say it is because Stephen blames himself for Olive's death, so that is why he doesn't blame Alex... .
I think I read somewhere that Jack was in sanctuary due to alcoholism...

Today may well have been Matt Kane's (Stephen) last episode; his character decides to go to Oxford and we get a pretty lengthy (by this show's standards) farewell scene. Jack is poised to take his place in the McKinnon household. I wonder how Cousin Taylor will feel about him?
I guess it was good that Stephen made a fresh start, it looks like he is finally getting past Olive's death. Of course, this now means Alex has even less people to talk to. With only Marla and her dad left from the original series, this is effectively a "changing of the guard". Hopefully with these characters' stories tied up, we can move on to Alex's. (I do hope both Tommy and Stephen can make a cameo before the end of the season. It should be easy for Stephen, Oxford is only an hour away by train! Most of my friends who study within a 1-2 hour train travel range from London return home practically every weekend. I'm guessing, though, with that farewell scene, Stephen won't be doing that.

It's nice to see Alex back to his old self again! Sure, he is a brat, but a cute brat.. lol I just hope we'll get a gay storyline, but I'm kinda worried they'll avoid the whole topic.. I do hope that's not the case though. I still think Luke is adorable and he is scheming and manipulative just like Alex. And there hasn't been any hints that he's either straight or gay yet, so I hope they'll couple him with Alex. That would be cute

It's great to see Alex back to his old self... but it does seem like he changed rather quickly... wasn't he like really depressed and mopey last week?

I'm so glad Alex said that to Taylor. She needs a reality check! I was kinda afraid they would become friends.. I'm really happy that won't happen Is it just me or did Alex seem a bit too curious about who Jack is? Hmm.. maybe they won't couple him with Luke after all, but Jack? I seriously don't know anymore, and with what Luke said to Frankie.. kinda seemed like he was hitting on her, or it could be just another sales trick, who knows.. lol

Well, both Alex/Jack and Alex/Luke have potential ... I guess we got the subtle acknowledgment that Alex is gay when Taylor asked him what he thought ... so a gay s/l might yet be in the offing. Alex/Jack is robbed of a bit of drama with Stephen's departure though ...
I wouldn't say Alex is happy, he's still alone with no discernible friends; he muttered under his breath "so much for second chances"; and he seemed quite depressed in detention. I think he will continue to take a backseat for now, at least until there is some resolution to the two 'big' stories they have going at the moment (Cam/Frankie's first-time sex and Elliott/Marla's pregnancy). I notice that, so far, the Hathaways have absolutely no story.

I can't believe Alex and Taylor are now friends.. they even seemed like they were flirting. are we sure they are going somewhere with Alex being gay? i'm not so sure anymore..
I cannot stand Taylor, she makes me wanna puke, and if she's gonna be in every scene with Alex.. that would suck!

i am guessing they are trying to give Alex someone to talk to, since with both Stephen and Olive gone, Alex lost his friends...
Ya.... I really wish they don't put together Taylor with Alex... really hope they don't decide to retcon Alex into just being in a "gay phase"
Go Alex/Luke!!!

Today, Alex was hanging out with Jack, so maybe they will date afteralll yay!!! OMG! YAY! I should have taken the hint when Taylor talked about him in an earlier episode.. Alex looked more than just a little bit interested, he actually seemed VERY interested. And he seemed to have a gay vibe when he first came on the show. He seemed kinda close with Stephen, almost as if he liked him! I'm not so sure anymore, after this I think you're right.. I think they'll couple Alex with Jack, and not Luke like I originally thought. I think Frankie will get with Luke. He's been complementing her a lot, and she seems to kinda like him too. and why is hanging out with Taylor, he clearly said he doesnt wanna be a part of her game yet continues to talk to her I think he just needs someone, anyone to hang with/talk to. He doesn't have any friends. She's all he's got, even though she kinda uses him. He probably figures that it's better than nothing..

Is it me or did it seem like Jack was actually interested in alex? Also i didnt like the fact alex went to dance with her leaving Jack and it did seem a little weird that he was happy when taylor dissed greg

I agree that Alex is hanging out with Taylor because he is lonely... he lost Olive and now Stephen is gone too... he really doesn't have any other friends....
I like Alex/Jake, but I think I would like Alex/Luke more, just because I would love to see what kind of schemes the two would come up with together...
Ya... I am wondering about Jack... how often do you buy a drink for another guy just because he asked you.... I was also hoping that alex didn't leave with Taylor... I was half screaming at him to stay and talk with Jack... hopefully, now that Jack and Alex have met, they will hang out more... they both need friends...

I can't believe so many people want Alex and Taylor together. OMG.. that would be horrible! I would probably stop watching because I don't like Taylor at all. I actually can't stand her!
People are now speculating that Alex is bi, but ugh.. I want him to be gay, not bi.. Maybe he doesn't know what he is yet? Who knows, he definitely did seem to fancy Jack though, that's a start.. I was afraid there for a while that they would dump the whole gay storyline!

OMG! Good episode today. Lots of Alex ;D Well, compared to the last few episodes.. My take on it, the jerk Taylor was going to hook up with (sorry, can't remember his name), is also a homophobe! What a surprise. I love how Alex stood up to him when he called Alex the F word. And the best thing? He did it without denying it happened, and without hitting him! And also, the way he said "I do my thing, she does her thing", sounds to me that he's slowly accepting his sexuality. Baby steps, but better than nothing! And it did look like he was kinda flirting with Jack a bit in the last episode. So yes, I'm more opitmistic now after this episode ETA: seeing Luke's reaction to what Alex said made me wonder.. maybe it is Luke who's supposed to be his bf after all? Ugh.. now I'm more confused than ever, lol. I'll be glad as long as he gets himself a boyfriend

Greg was the guy who confronted Alex today... I have to say, I love that confrontation... At the very least, it seem like Alex does acknowledge that his past... I still wish that Alex didn't went from depressed Alex to everything's back to normal Alex at the beginning of the season so quickly...
I only noticed Luke being there the second time i watched the confrontation... I still support Luke as Alex's BF, but I think I'll be fine with Jack... Speaking of Jack... Did I missed a scene where he suddenly decided to stalk Frankie?? And when did Taylor suddenly left the party and start wandering the streets?

I was also amazed at the number of fans for a Taylor/Alex hookup. As far as I'm aware, Taylor is universally hated, so I conclude that the T/A shippers decided two not-very-nice characters belong together. I don't think it will happen, because they made a point of reiterating Alex's sexuality in today's episode. They also made a point of showing Jack overhearing Cam/Frankie's conversation, and I think Jack might be romantically directed at Frankie rather than Alex. Too bad, because Jack buying Alex a drink did seem to resemble a seduction tactic. I admit I didn't notice Luke's reaction to Alex/Greg's blowout, but on rewind I think Alex/Luke is a more likely possibility than Alex/Jack. Or, of course, Alex may just end the season without a BF. (Blasphemy, I know.)
Let's round up the obvious hookups/relationships: Cam/Frankie(/Jack?), Marla/Elliott (I think the baby will be the "third party" to their relationship), Ruby/Ryan/Taylor/Greg/Rosa (if he's to be a pseudo-permanent character).
This leaves our boy Alex, Noah, Luke, and Catherine. And of course Mack, but I don't think there will be a focus on his dating life this season (there isn't anyone age-appropriate either, beyond Ruby Hathaway). Based on this, I suspect Luke will be for Alex, since he is the one character who hasn't made a distinct statement about his sexuality. (Noah does appear to be into girls.)

Based on this, I suspect Luke will be for Alex, since he is the one character who hasn't made a distinct statement about his sexuality. (Noah does appear to be into girls.) I agree with everything you said here. I'm more confused by each episode though.. at first I thought that Luke would be the guy for Alex, since they seem to have some chemistry and they never acknowledged Luke's sexuality, well, that was before he ran his scheme with the recording of the course work thing. He flirted a bit with Frankie, calling her sexy and whatnot.. Anyway, there's the "not acknowledging sexuality" part, then there's the chemistry part, then there's the scheming part. Alex and Luke are both manipulative and scheming. Like I said, I thought Luke would be the gay one before he started flirting with Frankie, then I thought he's straight, but after today's reaction at Alex's confrontation, maybe he is gay after all? Then we have Jack.. I too think he has a thing for Frankie, unfortunately I thought the scene with him and Alex was amazing, and Alex seemed kinda into him, plus he and Alex shared some chemistry too I think.. but it seems like that won't happen after all, after he stalked Frankie. Such a shame, because he's an interesting character and would have looked good with Alex. BTW, am I imagining things or did I see a hint of Tommy in the trailer for this season doing some kinda deal with Jack? Did that happen? And if so, could it have something to do with Alex? I agree that it shows promise that they focused on Alex's sexuality again in today's episode. I just don't know who he'll end up with, if he'll end up with a guy, or if he'll end up with Taylor . But I hope he'll get together with someone soon, I kinda think the season has been a let down until now. I'm not that into the Marla-baby storyline, or the Frankie/Cam/sex storyline. I kinda miss Stephen and Olive.. And I miss Tommy I hope we'll at least get to see a glimpse of him later on in the season..

Maybe jack maybe interested in frankie or maybe it has something to do with her mom getting attacked or what ever, and I totally saw that luke was watching alex and greg. But maybe Luke is just that type of guy that likes to know everything.I m soo confused, i dont mind if alex gets with luke but i think him and jack will be better together

Well, there hasn't really been any big interaction between Alex and Luke... except on the first day on school, when Luke was mean to Alex....
I agree we need more Tommy... at the very least, i hope they explore why Alex hates his brother, even though all Tommy does is protect and defend Alex...
