Oh god, now I really want it to happen too! And I guess it can go either way. I hope they bring in a boyfriend for Alex if he doesn't get together with Stephen though. And I hope that Alex stops fighting with his brother, but I don't think that is going to happen. It's just that I love both characters, and Tommy is so cute always sticking up to his brother. But I guess their problems run deeper than that. I think it's got something to do with their father, and I hope the series explore more of that next season. I hope Alex gets a bf too preferably Stephen but, if not a new character will be fine aswell. I think things may get a little better between Alex and Tommy, who is like my second fav after Alex. I think, like I`ve said b4, the writers need to go deeper into why Alex is so mean to his bro I completely agreee with everything you said! Alex and Stephen would be good together. However, if that doesn't happen, then I want Alex to get a new boyfriend. And also, they never explored the issue Alex has with his brother, so I hope they do that next season. Like I said, I think it's got something to do with their father, though I could be wrong of course.. Thanks to Qizzy over at AfterElton I've got some info I thought I could post here The new season starts September 27th according to him. Also some spoilers, nothing about Alex and the gay issue, but the rest seems interesting (also from Qiddy). Highlight to read: I think we have Alex's daddy/Brother issues.
plus the Finale aftermath/Fall out.

Thanks for that info, overtherainbow. One month isn't all that far away.
I, too, would like an exploration of the Fitzpatrick brothers' issues. I hope Tommy will be return to The Cut on a permanent basis now that the truth is out. You may recall that he was only allowed back from his NI boarding school for a week. I don't know how Tommy will convince his dad that he was innocent without bringing up Alex's name; maybe he will just pin the blame on Stephen. I have to admit Tommy is my favorite character on the show, and at one point Alex was my most hated. So I suppose I am something of a hypocrite since I've started liking Alex more now that he is gay. I'm not giving him a free pass for all the nasty things he's done, but at least it helps to understand the character a bit more. I always find that characters' rare moments of vulnerability helps endear them to me.
I also happen to think Ed and Connor are two of the strongest actors on the show so it would be great if they were given some meaty material to play opposite each other next series. (If you haven't watched it, the episodes where Tommy is framed for drug dealing - I think it was about halfway through series 2 - were a fantastic showcase of Ed's acting ability. After playing Mr Cool for most of the show's run, he was finally given an opportunity to show the character's vulnerable side as no one believes him when he says he was framed. These were also the episodes that cemented Alex's nasty streak for me as he reveled in his brother's utter misery even as Tommy tried to reach out to him one last time. There is one scene in particular, I think Tommy accuses Alex of framing him and Alex doesn't answer the question but Tommy instantly believes Alex had nothing to do with it. Ed played that scene like he was ashamed for even suggesting his own brother could be capable of something so cruel and vicious, and then we had Alex grinning gleefully as Tommy is expelled - in that moment he was the epitome of evil.)
Plus, they are both cute. ;D

Plus, they are both cute. ;D OMG, you said everything I wanted to say! I don't know.. Alex is a person you love to hate. He does all these nasty things to his brother, when his brother really cares for Alex. Like Tommy said, he's only sticking up to him. Trying to protect him. I love the Fitzpatrick brothers whenever they have screen time together. They share some chemistry and their scenes are always interesting because of Alex's scheming and manipulating, just like Stephen. And his brother just can't figure out why he hates him so much. So yes, I think this needs to be adressed next season, and it should be interesting! Also, I hated Alex at first too. But he really got to me whenever he was with Olive. For once he really cared for another human being, and he showed that his "bad boy attitude" was more of a facade he put up to protect himself. Or at least that's how I think it is. And it was very cool to see that vulnerable side to Alex. Made the character more human and also more real. It's obvious the guy has a lot of issues, but he's not ALL bad, and I think the writers did a good job of showing that. Also, I have to give credit to both Connor and Ed, two of the best actors on the show. They hit the jackpot when they found Connor. They seriously couldn't have found a better match for the character, and his acting is top notch too. I actually don't think the actor playing Stephen is half bad either. And Marla is, well.. she surprised me with the cutting last season. I was like wow, the character is interesting and it was some good acting from the girl playing her too. I'm sad that Olive is gone. At first I couldn't stand the character, but then she grew on me and I kinda started to like her. She was not THAT bad of an actress either. I just think it's her voice that makes it so unreal, if you know what I mean? And she is young, so yeah.. I'm not saying she's the best actress in the world, I just wish people would give her some slack since she's ovciously not THAT bad. Oh, and am I the only one practically screaming KISS! at the screen whenever Tommy and Alex have one of their fights? Those two have so much chemistry going on, even more than Alex has with Stephen! It would be nice if they hooked Alex up with Tommy. Yes, I know that they are brothers, and that it's bad. I'm just saying.. IF they weren't brothers. lol Oh, and I almost forgot to say.. I saw the 5:19 show, with Billie (Olive) and Connor (Alex). I love their personalities! OMG. They seem like such nice persons. Also Connor having his arm in a cast. Wonder how they are going to cover that up in the series? lol. If you haven't watched it yet, you should. I got more of an impression of how the actors behind the characters are It was cool!

overtherainbow i totally agree with the part about Olive's voice and how she got really high at the end of the sentence. But, I did like her character except that she kept falling for Stephen's shit, Tommy is waayyy better

devillies. Yeah, but at the same time.. Stephen WAS Olive's first love, and it's always hard to let them go, even though you know you're better off alone. Yes, he is scheming and manipulative, and I agree that she would probably be better with Tommy. But do you remember how Tommy treated her in the beginning? I'm not sure if he was THAT into Olive in the first place. She always had feelings for Stephen. She just came to her senses and decided to dump him because he was bad for her, even though she still loves him. Just a heads up.. if anyone wants to get to know Connor, the guy playing Alex, I have two clips for you to watch. overtherainbow, we can only hope! I don't really agree with a Stephen/Alex hookup in the future, as I personally feel that would be a lazy way out to save hiring a new actor as Alex's BF and secondly, it has very little (if any) foundation in the Stephen character as we've know him for the past two seasons. That being said, if anyone's previously-established sexuality has to be mucked around with, can it please be Elliott? Just so we can see him and Alex make out. ;D The blog has put up a couple of (very short) preview clips. www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thecut/2010/09/exclusive-footage-of-series-3.shtml The first deals with the aftermath of Olive's death and the second has nothing to do with any of our boys, but you may see what I meant about Elliott. (If you are so inclined, he also had a nice scene in Speedos last season.)

(If you are so inclined, he also had a nice scene in Speedos last season.) Yeah.. I kinda think it would be out of character to "suddenly" turn out gay as he's been quite the womanizer over the last two season. I have no idea how many girls he slept with, but it was a lot! Howeever, turning Alex gay was a good decision I think, it certainly explains a lot. I know Stephen and Alex might not happen. And I can see it would be a cop out, still.. I wouldn't mind them together at all, just for the hotness of it. And yes, I also agree about the easy excuse to not hire another actor to be alex's bf. Oh, yes.. I see what you mea about Elliot. He's one of my fave characters. So nice and genuine and honest, not to mention HOT! He unfortunately didn't get that much screen time last season. Hopefully he'll get more this season, I heard he's going to get some juicy storylines, and I really hope so. I wanna see more of him! And Elliot is one of the guys I wouldn't mind a sudden 180 in character development to find out he's gay. I will be just as happy to see him shirtless in more scenes though

They've also released the series 3 trailer which looks good, although no sign of any romance for Alex. (You can see the trailer at the link in overtherainbow's post directly above mine. Going off the trailer, we only see Alex's participation in a single storyline.
The new character Jack appears in the trailer at least twice (that I could determine - the scenes go by very quickly!) and both times his scene partner is Stephen.
I was disappointed that there was only one glimpse of Tommy, and I have the sinking feeling that he will be packed off to his boarding school in N.I. after the funeral.

LOL.. I was JUST going to say that justinate! It looks really good, but omg.. Alex looks soo sad! We didn't see a hint of a new boyfriend for Alex, but I sill think one of the new guys will hook up with him. He obviously has to get over Olive first. He liked her and is sad she is gone, he feels some guillt, which is understandable. So yeah.. even if he does get a boyfriend, I mean.. It will take some time, getting over Olive and getting to know the new guy too. Don't give up hope on Tommy! I think he'll stay (or at least I hope so). Many of the fans really like him. And also, I'm not giving up hope on Alex's bf. They can't show all in the trailer, maybe they haven't even finished the scenes yet? Oh well.. I don't know. I'll still watch the series, even if Alex ends up without someone special. Because I like the series, and not just Alex. Though I wouldn't mind if he does end up with a bf either FYI: They said there would be new characters, with an S, which means more than one. I could only see one new guy in the trailer. So I think there's more to come than what we see. Some storylines probably aren't even in the trailer..

Yes, another new male character, Luke, has just been introduced on the blog. Maybe he will be the gay love interest? Of course I understand that the trailer isn't long enough to be representative of the whole season's storylines, plus some of the later episodes probably haven't even been filmed yet. What I was thinking was that the trailer probably showcased the dominant storylines of the early part of the season, and this would appear not to include Alex's love life. Admittedly, the boy has a lot on his plate at the moment, and he obviously isn't even comfortable with his sexuality yet, so I don't expect him to leap into a relationship right off the bat.
I do hope, however, you're right about Tommy. The shallow part of me also hopes they will do a better job of getting their hunks out of their clothes this season. Honestly, what's the point of hiring such a good-looking bunch of lads if you only get their kit off once a season?!

LOL.. Yes. I also second the part about Tommy staying and getting the hunks out of their clothes more often! But yeah.. seems like we're not the only one speculating about Alex and his potential bf. Reading the comments on the blog, and it seems like more people are excited for what's to come for Alex

Quite a large number of new characters this season; they've just put up all the character/actor bios on their site: www.bbc.co.uk/switch/thecut/characters/alex_fitzpatrick.shtml (This is the Alex profile, but you can click through the cast pictures to access the other bios as well.) Besides Jack and Luke (Luke's bio makes him seem a very appropriate match for Alex), they've also got another young male character (Noah), a new female intro (Catherine), a new adult couple (Ruby & Ryan), plus the return of Rosa. Based purely off the new introductions, it's a 2:1 ratio of males to females, so there should be a gay character in their midst, ready to romance our Alex. Here are a couple of new pics with Alex (Connor Scarlett) in them. (You can get both as wallpapers in the Access All Areas section of the site.) And just 'cause: Alex Roe as Elliott: So excited for the new series!

I love Elliot.. He was my fave character last season when Tommy wasn't there. He was a good substitute for Tommy.. Handsome, nice, a gentleman. I do like Tommy a bit more though, but I don't know how last season would have been without Elliot!
I'm kinda happy and worried at the same time about so many new characters. A large cast could mean less screen time for Alex. I certainly hope not though! I also hope they can get all the storylines to come together, and most of the characters to interact. Or else it would just be weird.
I love the new pics of Alex. I'm confused though.. Who is that girl in the pic? Wasn't Catherine the urban rock chick last year who was best friends with Marla?

Ugh.. I figured as much when he said he was going back to NI. Still, I hoped he somehow was coming back later on or whatever.
It sucks that they are dropping the alex/tommy storyline. I think that's what was the most exciting thing about season 2! I guess this means they just wanna focus on Alex being gay though. Which is fine I guess. still, I wouldn't mind seeing more of the Tommy and Alex interaction. And Tommy is so cute/hot too. So it sucks losing him from a shallow pow, lol.

It is as I feared ... Tommy's out. That doesn't necessarily rule out a short guest stint in the future, but I'm going to say it doesn't look good. It sucks because Ed Green was one of the more capable actors and it would have been nice to explore the Fitzpatrick brothers' dynamic.
So far no sign of Alex, and already he's being blamed for Olive's death. How long before they bring him back?
