Thank you, Flippa! I am doing my best to take care of my health. In all honesty, if it weren't for the fact that I've just started this new job, I would have taken a few sick days and then this would have all been over much sooner... Oh, well. What amuses me whenever I think about the UK's weather is how Sir Richard Burton claimed it's simply too cold for anyone to develop a case of homosexuality there. It's obviously a disease reserved for warm climate countries... such as Israel. Well, we can check that out, but if it turns out I am younger, that just shows how rapid the change that's taking place is! A wonderful thought... And it was HUGE here in Israel! My kid sister and her friends would ROAR with joy when they saw the opening sequence (seriously, they terrified me to death when I first heard them, I was on army leave, so was obviously sleeping and they woke me up). Thank you so much and I definitely will! *mwah* PMSL- well, that's obviously one positive effect of climate change ;D But how does it explain gay penguins???!!!! And what's your chinese animal year???!!! Now get to bed earlier for a few nights and you'll feel much better (my goodess, I feel like a mother hen!!! ;D)

*lol* Gay penguins obviously forgot to read the theory's textbook. Um... dog, I think... Why? I mean, seeing as they are 12 year cycles, that won't necessarily help us conclude who's younger, if that's what you're thinking. *lol* I'm trying! But there's always something that needs to be done before I can call it a day, so... I'm not complaining, though. I am optimistic that I'll be okay in just a short while. Mother hens for the win! *g*

Or Matan4il could be 50. And anyone who thinks that's old will get whapped.

*chuckles* I am 26 years old. And in Israeli years, that's ancient. Awwwwww, cutie gay penguins! <3 Now that reminds me that my friend who was studying animation made a video of a penguin "singing" Ivri Lider's version of The Man I Love as one of his projects for school. I'll ask him if it's still available online... Aussie54, being 50 and on this board is the exact opposite of old, in my opinion. I'm trying to upload part 11 as we speak, I hope youtube plays nice and it's up before I have to leave for work. If it doesn't, I'll try again when I come back...

I have an 81 year old Grandma who is one of the youngest people I know. 'Course, she didn't grow up here, so Israeli years don't count for her. Or for visitors! Momnoc, you are not allowed to pass up an opportunity to come here if one ever comes your way! And thank you. I had a minor accident on the way back from work. Nothing major, honest. I'm gonna try to upload the next bit now, but if I give in and go get some painkillers at the drugstore instead, I apologize in advance.

WHAT! You were in an accident? I blame the cold and I wont blame you if you decide on taking the painkillers instead of uploading the new clip...Please take care of yourself

Thank you, Viga2430. It wasn't me, but maybe I would have reacted faster/better without the cold. I'm sorry I'm so rubbish. I'm giving in to the pain and taking the pills... Going to sleep early, so hopefully if tomorrow morning I feel better, I'll have time to upload then. G'night!

*bats eyelashes at Matan4il* oh I do hope you're well in the morning and can post me a belated birthday treat (which was today!) ;D
And Aussie54- I always go by the philosophy of "how old would you be if you didn't know how old you are"- I was a tour manager for 5 years, and I had both FABULOUS 70 or 80 yr old people on my trips and unbelievably dull 20 somethings and whiny 30 somethings- which has left me with a life-time thinking that age is irrelevant, it's the attitude and spirit of the person that counts...
Now... is it morning in Israel yet???!! ;D

I thought the dog was sick, thus why they would kill him. But that man was going to kill the dog because they got tired of it? What are they, accessories? I can never understand this view having grown up with a mother who picked up stray animals all over and instilled love for animals.
Still, the episode was rather moving. Seeing Harel crave affirmation made me teary-eyed. He pouts so adorably. And Amir aggreing to lead on Ury was so Amir-like; shifty, shifty Amir.
It's curious how heterosexuals assume that just because societal forces pressure some homosexuals into being with women, that they can choose to continue such activities. How arrogant.
Even more curious is how some homosexuals can be pressured into sleeping with persons of the different sex. I come from a country that was rabidly homophobic; gay bashings were the bread of every day. Even then, I could not force myself to date women for the sake of appearances. I saw it as an affront to my dignity to force myself to engage in a behavior I'm not naturally inclined to. I simply could not fathom myself with a woman.

Oh, dear. I was reading your comment, Lucrece, and thinking WTF?? I didn't realise the clip was already up. Here's the link: Direct link: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vRyyioHGhXsIt's a pretty angsty clip. Harel's Dad is really conflicted. He does love his son, but he's having a very hard time coming to terms with the fact that he's gay. And I had a big lump in my throat thinking about the dog.

Yeah, I was choked up, too; the music wasn't helping. I'm not a PETA neophyte, but the killing of animals really messes with me.

That was a lovely clip... parents have different ways of handling the gay issue... particularly when a son/daughter spent part of his/her life showing no signs of his/her true inclinations... I like the way the writers are handling this... small steps... because in most cases acceptance (if there is acceptance) comes via a number of often tiny steps.

Thanks MAtan4il for the translation- wonderful (if traumatic!)
(and thanks sonnenschein and amber for the birthday wishes ;D)
I must confess as a total dog lover, I had to skip to the end of the clip when I realised what was going on, just to make sure it was going to be ok...
And I've worked in a vets before and seen perfectly healthy animals brought in to be put down because the owner's bored, never mind the pets that get chucked out on the road because the owners can't be bothered... but I digress.
I am assuming the whole point of that was to act as a metaphor for the Harel/ Ury relationship and for Harel to show his vulnerable side, still craving his father's love- in stark contrast to slapping Amir's bum in front of him before- and it was so heartbreaking when he equated himself with a dog- just made me sad that that's how he thinks his father views him- or rather was hoping desperately that his father would deny it.
I really got a lot from that exchange- it reminded me a lot of my father and brother. My dad definitely comes from a time and generation where men just don't talk about their feelings, and despite the fact that my dad is genuinely fine with my brother being gay, they never ever talk about it. My brother sees that as a sign that dad deep down wishes he wasn't, whereas I see it much more as my dad just struggles to cope with his own feelings, never mind express them (I often point out that my father never spoke to me about my fiance or boyfriends- it's just not what a working class northerner from his generation does!!). I was very teary watching Ury tearing up in the car, trying to tell Harel how he feels about him but just not having the words.
Oh, this programme is so well written and performed, I just love it! The actor that plays Ury- what a magnificent man, so nuanced, he absolutely has that character nailed.
Right, I'm off to watch Harel bury his head in the dog's again and try not to wail ...

I forgot to thank you for this latest clip, MAtan4il. I really appreciate you doing this for all of us. Flippa, I think the actor who plays Ury is wonderful. I really think of him as Harel's Dad. Actually, I think all the actors are very good. It's almost like watching a documentary, rather than watching a TV show. As much as I love the Ollian story, it often feels like a Soap Opera. Jo and Thore are very good actors, but I don't always forget that it's not Real Life, whereas when I watch "Til The Wedding" it seems like I'm just watching real people.
