Relax, some of the returns are still early. Virginia, for example, has had mostly returns from rural areas expected to go to McCain. The Obama strong holds are in the highly populous Northern Virginia counties. We shall have to see, of course. And, actually, Obama does no need to with Florida and North Carolina. He actually is unlikely to actually need either. He can get to 270 without any of the states of the South, actually. It makes it harder, but not impossible. You can play with scenarios at scoreboard.dailykos.com/map/

Was it supposed to be this close? I am so not liking this... Mr. O. has to win Florida and North Carolina. I'm keeping a very close eye on Wisconsin restenergy. Well, it looks like Obama is in line to get what Kerry got in 2004. In that case all he needs is Ohio or Florida to win, both which he is leading at the moment. Too early to break out the peach schnapps just yet, but I have the orange juice chilling for it!

What is Prop 4? It might be also good to keep in mind that when low percentage of precincts are reporting, the numbers may have very little resemblance to the overall votes cast, as the precincts that have reported can greatly skew those early reported results. Too true. I was checking the state/local results earlier and at 1% of the results in they had Obama leading the state. Clearly not gonna happen. Now with 3% in the results sound a little more like expected with McCain ahead. I'm really curious about a Senate seat and a local prop here. Other news, I'm glad that the incumbent Senator for N. Carolina, Elizabeth Dole, who ran the 'godless' commercial, lost.

Yes, Obama can loose every state in the south and nearly everything else not already called apart from the Pacific Coast states, and win. I'm hoping for a dubbing, myself. We shall see. As one post on one of the political blogs suggested: Breath in. Breath out. Be zen.

OK guys, I have to go get ready for an "Early Elections Returns" party! The same group gets together every 4 years and we are pretty evenly divided so we basically cancel out each others votes! ;D Have fun and I look forward to catching up on the tons of pages when I come back! This thread is so great.....we will basically have a running real time tally of the election and where the turning points were!

I'm slightly uncomfortable with the slant that our commentating is going in. They're wheeling out all these black "worthies" to comment on Obama winning. I know it's a huge historical thing but come on he didn't JUST win because he's black!!!
update McCain 124 Obama 200
