So are all the known McCain states the ones that are being counted early?
Is it too soon to be worried if you're an Obama supporter?

Yes, it's too soon to be worried if you're an Obama supporter. Many of the Eastern timezone Obama leaning states closed just now. New York won't close for another hour, nor will states like Minnesota and Wisconsin.

For once it's good being in the different time zone. It's very easy for me to watch all the votes coming in. ;D

Apparently, Vigo County, Indiana has missed the presidential winner only twice since 1892. With 98% of precincts reporting, it stands at 57% Obama and 42% McCain.
Not predictive, strictly speaking, but fun.

Florida Amendment 2: Ban on Gay Marriage Yes - 60% No - 40% 15% presincts reporting Any news on Prop 8? It's pretty interesting how sometimes some of those legendary moments can permanently scarr the psyche. For example in Austria way back in 1933 the Austrian equivalent of the Republicans (called Christian Democrats) narrowly won the parlament against the Austrian version of the Democrats (called Social Democrats). The Christian Dems got annoyed at the Socialists, decided to do away with parlament and then proceded to outlaw the Socialists. Think about it. Outlawing a party that represents almost HALF of the country. And then his genius idea was to replace democracy where rather than there being representatives of so and so many voters, there would be representatives according to the different job groups. Except, you know, there are slightly more workers in the country than let's say Bishops. But they would still get the same amount of votes as all the other smaller job groups. Anyway, it all came to heed when the socialists collected weapons and hid away in a workers' district. The goverment troups came, fired a bunch of cannonballs at the houses (which technically were appartment houses with families in them). This was the extent of the "Austrian revoluction". One house. And now, more than 70 years later the two parties still loathe each other for it (even though their history was for example interrupted by National Socialism). Whenever they remeber they will hate each other somebody can jump up and basically say "You shot at us". 70 years later and people still take it personally and stll use is as a reason to not trust each other.

California won't close for another three hours, or so. (8 PM PST, 11 PM EST, 4 AM GMT) We won't really be able to get any news on Prop 8 until after that.
I am disappointed with those numbers from Florida, but hardly surprised.
That's a very interesting story/event, Lola. I didn't know that. But I can totally see how that still lingers, even if it seems so long ago now.

I'm watching MSNBC and they just said that the absentee ballot cast by Obama's grandmother will be counted. Very moment. On a totally random side note, I just realized what Barack Obama's initials are. Jr high must have been tons of fun.

I'm using Radio-Canada's internet site... and 2 of the States to watch (North Carolina and Florida) are leaning towards Mr. Obama... but overall it looks as if the race might be tighter than the Polls led us to believe. Keeping fingers crossed. McCain I could possibly live with... but Mrs. P.?... absolutely not. Would you believe that the local paper (we're talking Saguenay here: 250 kms north of any major urban centre, 99.9% French-speaking) had a five-page analysis of the US election? and what's more... the local TV Station has sent a reporter to Chicago? They're nuts... ETA This is getting way too close... not liking this one bit...

This is a good website to follow results live: news.yahoo.com/election/2008/dashboard;_ylt=AmMa0f0NUW9VnxJirNpU5mp2KY54 though I have MSNBC on in the background too. Prop 8 news won't be available for at least another 2 hours though the NO on Prop 8 people were out in force from what I could see. I am also curious about California's Prop 4 which I do not want to pass.

What is Prop 4?
It might be also good to keep in mind that when low percentage of precincts are reporting, the numbers may have very little resemblance to the overall votes cast, as the precincts that have reported can greatly skew those early reported results.

I am also curious about California's Prop 4 which I do not want to pass. Thanks for the link Bonobochick! When I was out on Saturday, I came in the "back way" to a shopping center and was very pleasantly surprised to see 3 college students standing in front of a Target store handing out NO on 8 information! I thanked them for being there, got a sticker, and when I came out an hour later they were still there! I told them again how much I appreciated them being there when they could probably being doing "something else" on a Saturday. One of the girls said "Yes, we could be doing some else.....but not something better!". I was so impressed I gave them $20.00 and told them to make sure they ate and got something to drink! Until I saw their eyes get the size of saucers, I had forgotten how broke college students can be! They were very thankful and full of smiles! ;D Then I pulled out the "front way" of the shopping center and WOW!!!!! sooo many demonstrators from both sides streaming down the sidewalks!

It might be also good to keep in mind that when low percentage of precincts are reporting, the numbers may have very little resemblance to the overall votes cast, as the precincts that have reported can greatly skew those early reported results. Prop 4 is about Parental Notification regarding pregnant teens. It's just another way to circumvent Roe v Wade. ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/California_Proposition_4_(2008) Thanks a great story, Mom. Folks in San Francisco are also voting today on whether to re-name a city sewage plant after George W Bush. ;D Hi guys....I am so excited. Hi Flo Was wondering where you were ;D 58 for McCain - you're more up to date than the BBC site ETA wow - 5000 lawyers for the Democrats have gone to Florida to make sure the vote is called correctly That's because of the state's ULTRA SHADY election history since 2000.
