I think he's just supposed to be an upstanding guy. I think it would kinda of dilute the whole point of the storyline if it more or less says that you have to be gay to be against homophobia. I think it works even better if it's "Well, even people who aren't gay and who are just morally upstanding should care and do something against Axel even if it doesn't concern them personally because IT'S THE RIGHT THING".
Christian's preachyness, yes it can be annoying at times (and would definitely be annoying in real life) but I love it because it is a nice "flaw" for a soap opera. Most soaps come with typical stock characters like the bad girl with a heart of gold, the womanizer, the pure heroine and the pure hero. Christian having a temper and Christian having a tendency to preach and it clearly being seen as a quirk or even a flaw is a nice twist on the soap heroes and heroines who preach because they are oh so pure and perfect and the preaching is written without self-awareness by the writers.

Thank You Nanna & TihKon I really liked Olivia in this ep, it was funny how she just hanged up on Gregor, poor Gregor. Thank you again guys! Olivia just ran out of her share of good deeds for the day ;D No, she told Gregor that she stopped Christian and she did not have time for explanations

But in this case the "preachiness" was necessary. They had to be confronted with consequences of Axel's actions and that it all happened, as Christian said, because of his ego, that he could not stand that he lost in a fair fight, so he attacked somebody who had no chance against him. They heard Axel's story that he gave Olli a good beating ha ha, but now they heard that he might be dead.

That was a truly superb episode! Even though I was naughty and read spoilers I couldn't help but get caught up in it all. I was actually shouting "Come on Kai!" at the screen at one point, and then dissolved into tears.

Kudos to Thore (and the writers), not only for this episode, but also for portraying the entire journey from 'I'm not gay!!!' to 'lost without him' without losing the essential 'Christian-ness' of his character. Hear, hear!! And also, kudos to all the other actors involved, the writers, director(s) and music editor(s) for bringing us such a, dare I say it, epic episode!! And thank you EGL and Roddieb for your beautiful and thoughtful posts. I enjoyed every word of it.

I do agree with lola, roddieb and egl but at the same time, I think there's something to be said if Kai were indeed revealed to be gay because Christian's actions -- outing himself in such a public forum -- arguably helped Kai "cross the aisle" himself so to speak, which is an empowerment Kai would have derived and gained from Christian's example. If Kai, however, were straight, then I'm not sure it's a necessarily stronger message that a straight person would be convinced of the gay plight as a result of Christian's message and actions. I think the effect of what Christian has done would be equally powerful and moving irrespective of whether Kai (or anyone else who saw Christian's actions, heard him speak, "got" Christian's message and were moved by any or all of the above) were gay or straight.

Great episode! Thore did an awesome job, I wonder if someone still thinks that he could have "gay issues", or any doubts about his acting skills or any other kind of crap... The scene at the club was really thrilling, and I liked it a lot, but my favourite is the one at the hospital hands down. I was crying together with Christian... And I loved his change of mood, first the tears, then a huge smile as soon as he saw Olli open his eyes, and finally the rage in his look when Kai came in. Not to mention that "Ich liebe Dich so sehr"!!! And Olli? Adorable of course, even if lying in a bed unconscious and shirtless. I think that Constantin's expression when Judith was talking to David at NoLimits was priceless. Poor baby, he's eifersüchtig! ;D The only scene that didn't convince me too much was when Olivia stopped Christian from hitting Axel with the bat. The supposed "victim" stood there without saying or doing nothing while Christian and Olivia were discussing, it wasn't so realistic, was it? Thanks again, Ivan, Tihkon and Nanna!

In the best possible way!! And all that within less than a minute! I was certainly impressed by how well Thore did with all those changing moods and expressions in such a short time. That was one amazing performance!

I never bought the gay issues thing. IMO *if* there are ever any decreases in quality or energy it's likely a question of the actor being bored by the material or not being fond of it (for example the actress who plays Carla suffered from it during this summer when Carla wasn't interested in helping Nathalie; Ansgar too seemed to have it in parts of the storyline). Good material = energetic actors.

And that's why they call it a soap opera... ;D Of course you're right...
