Okay, I'm a sap, when it comes to Ollian. I started tearing up, just by LOOKING at the photos of today's clips. I'm going to be a mess, when I actually watch the damn thing. Awww.

Did you put the 'Ich liebe Dich so sehr' in there twice on purpose Ivan? ;D
ETA: Not that I'm complaining; saves me some rewinding... ;D

You know, even with the camera on crack I really loved the big speech scene too. It's just sooo Christian and so nice that he finally got to have his say big time.

Christian would save the entire world by making speeches if he could. It's a very endearing quality (but slightly impractical and annoying at times). I loved loved loved that Olivia was the one to talk Christian down from his insanity. That's my girl! ;D

I was incredibly worried that it might end up being too much along the lines of "gay!Jesus preaches to the heathens", but it really worked for me.
I think it helps that it is all very much in character for Christian. On most soaps it ends up looking stupid when they do one of those public awareness storylines because it feels like the characters are putting their normal personality on hold to deliver a very special message. For Christian this IS his normal personality and that's why it works.
At first I was unsure about bringing this Kai person in so late in the game, but I think I decided it works for me. I kinda like that there is no amazing turnaround of Axel who magically repents and changes his opinion. Instead the change has to some from the outside. Of the normal people doing something rather than looking away.
Ok, this is gonna be a strange compliment, but I actually thought the actor for Axel also did a pretty good job today. For one the cinematography was really flattering and I really bought first his light fear with Christian and the interaction with the boxing buddies. Where you can sense the panic as the public opinion is turning away from him.

I totally agree with you Lola! That's the same reason why it worked for me: it's in character. I loved it when Christian got on his soapbox and told them off. For me it worked better this time then it did when he came out after his victory in the boxing match. I liked that one, but this felt much more natural. Just like the reactions of the other boxers felt natural to me.

I'm kinda hoping that the end of the storyline is that the group more or less forces Axel to turn himself in. In a very "the tribe has spoken" kind of way (Either you turn yourself in or we wil turn you in).
However it did make me kind of yearn for the "what could have been". If the storyline hadn't been more interesting if we had seen at least traces of these guys before rather than most of the boxing stuff always happening "elsewhere" and the boxers only getting a personality now, in the 11th hour.
But, I'm not gonna complain. Like I said elsewhere, I love it when it is good lighting day/good director day on VL. Everybody looked gorgeous in the location scenes.

At the beginning of the episode I was a little worried but everything went great! I'm glad Christian finally said "I love you so much" (I almost thought the ILY would have been even better if he would have told him after he opened his eyes). I liked that he cried after he knew Olli would probably be okay. I hope Christian will be able to show his feelings more and more after today.
Gregor and Charlie after Ollis surgery in his room was great but I adored the dynamic between Olivia and Christian. Without losing their attitude they helped each other I think. Olivia was a great friend for Olli and Christian.

And they made good use of dark/light to emphasize on the tensed atmosphere. I really loved the C/O scene in the hospital, but my favorite of the day is still the scene in the box club.

It's amazing, that TPTB have actually put an effort in this storyline. ;D Lola may be right, that it was Tom Chroust's last present for the fans. In last three episodes there has been half of action going around Ollian and story really works again. They haven't got so big share never before. I was quite skeptical after we saw so much fast-food storylines and even after the first episode of this SL, but turns out that it was only a slow build-up. Now I feel even more sad, that there isn't almost any Ollian coming up in the near future.

Yes but at least this was a really good present and will hopefully make it easier to sustain oneself through potential new writer hell

It turned out it was there but not complete. Take it as a bonus

Thanks for the clips and the video, Ivan! Even without understanding more than a half dozen words, or so, I really enjoyed the episode. The way they shot the scene at the boxing club worked really well. The constant circling of the camera helped keep it tense. The music they added worked to great effect. And the responses and the confrontation seemed dramatic yet real. Perhaps it still belongs in the realm of melodrama (it is a soap after all) but not the over-the-top (and all too often self-consicous) melodrama that one can so often get. And Christian at the hospital, taking Olli's hand and crying, was so very great, and so sad. It brought me to tears myself. More than "manly blinking," I had to dry my cheek. Thore did great work there! Very believable and heartfelt. I'm looking forward to being able to understand the dialogue. A wonderful episode, all in all.

Christian's tears made him even more beautiful if that makes any sense. Even more so when his tears of grief turned to tears of joy when Olli opened his eyes. Awesome. I can't wait for the subs. This looks like a winner :-)
edited due to actor/character mixing up. -Bchick

Thank you again, Ivan for a great job. Good dramatics today. Olivia and Thore acted well. As much as the confrontation scene with the boxers was good, the camera work really bothered me. Luckily as I was watching, my internet connection wasn't quick enough to play it all the way through. If it wasn't for the breaks I would've been too dizzy to watch it. Too much circling. It would've been better to have stopped at some point. I liked the scene in the hospital ... lovely to hear Christian say those words. Now he just has to say them again, when Olli can hear him.

I'm very happy Christian said "I love you" to Olli... I was waiting for this moment for SO LONG ! And now I got it.... a very romantic and touching one, full of "patos".... but it will be even better if he declares his love to a conscious Olli.... I'd like to see Olli's face in hearing it.... btw, another touching moment (probably the one I like most) is when Christian softly and gently holds Olli's hand.... he touches it as if he is afraid to break Olli, to break the most important thing in his life.... this scene moved me deeply..... not to speak about Christian crying.... OMG... All things considered, a very very very good episode ! PS: Olli was very hot in hospital bed (what a body, dear !) but today angry Christian at the boxing club was Over The Top !

Olivia was a great friend for Olli and Christian. I really liked it that Christian and Olivia still showed their, well, resentment for each other even though they were now allies. Very much in character and very fitting for their relationship. Just like Gregor can never hide his resentment for Leonhard, not even when he told them the good news about Olli in Friday’s episode. It’s those little things that make these characters so believable and enjoyable.
