The above video for The Alter has been pulled after a single day. Star Digital have put out a statement addressing the backlash they have received since it's debut, mainly surrounding the lead player Buknoy. It's looking at the moment like this new series will be shelved.
As mentioned previously Buknoy is a very divisive personality in the Philippines following various controversial opinions made on his/her vlog in the past and it looks like folk aren't easily going to forget. Buknoy is only 16 years old in real life and the trailer for The Alter implies various types of sexual activity being performed by the brother/sister characters that he/she is playing. Various complaints have been made against Star Digital, with the main one being that they are showing a minor having sex on a public platform (YT) in a genre show (BL) that is likely to attract other minors to it.
Star Digital do appear to want to stand by Buknoy so we'll just have to see what they decide.
PS- Apologies for not really knowing the correct trans-neutral pronouns to use in this comment

After watching the last part of 17 and the first half of part 1 of 18 (here's hoping they fix the second half's subtitles soon), I have to say wow - Wil finally gets outed to Joey as the evil mastermind behind most of the bad stuff that has happened over the last year and a half (dear God! - showrunners - you need to give us some more clues about the passage of time in this show). Lemuel drops the ball as worst minion ever (and is clearly used to reporting his misdeeds to a silent Wil). Brenda and Jelae are still almost as clueless when it comes to Wil - trying to talk Nuan out of outing Wil himself. Joey looked sadly ineffectual during his slapfest - though he did a good job of portraying an absolutely broken person (twice! - once in the cafe and the second time in the middle of the road). The only thing that really surprised me was that Wil actually got out of the car to check on Joey - I kind of figured it would have been more in character if he had run off instead. Then we do two giant time jumps in less than 5 minutes - where clearly the show decided to cut a few paychecks out of the budget by sending Brenda abroad and Nuan to the provinces.

I think If it had been anyone else but Joey he would have just left them there

Link for episode 23 premiere - which appears to also be on the 13th? Based on the thumbnail, this one looks like I am going to need a box of kleenex handy.

That thumbnail makes it look like they shot it around the time of Typhoon Ulysses back in November?

I really hope that Drei Arias is getting well paid to stay in the background, because watching the Wil pining for Joey show that has been the long drag of episodes 19-21 is not something I care to do much more of and I really hope Jimmy gets to finally get the boy. I did enjoy Madame Tusha's sincere lack of tact in trying to draw out Joey's feelings/interest in Jimmy right in front of Wil at another world's most awkward dinner (which this shows seems to have a new contender every other episode for that title).
Joey finally figuring out that Princess was Wil's ex was also priceless. Though I am still amazed that Wil hadn't seen the video or figured out that baby Butch was his based on the random slips that have occurred.

Well, episode 22 was the shortest episode yet at only 13 minutes long.
Why haven't we seen more of Dave in this show? The rare few times he has popped up he's always come across as quite affable and shown he's a genuine friend, and he's easy on the eye... oh, and from a story-telling point of view, he very conveniently has an aunt who just happens to have a DNA Diagnostic Centre at hand now that they need one.
The revelation about Baby Butch was a little surprising; not that he wasn't Jimmy's son, but the fact he wasn't Wil's either. I hate to say it but the signs are pointing very much towards Wil's dad being the real father.
Episode 23 was a good one for the JimJo fans with that playful sardines scene, but I'm starting to get confused again about the passage of time. Baby Butch was born before JoWil got together officially and they were a couple for a year and a half. We also had the time-jump when Brenda left to go abroad and Nuan went back to the provinces to be with his brother which also implied months had passed. So why is Baby Butch still a baby? And did JoWil really not get intimate during the whole time they were together?
Another new episode on Friday. They're really churning them out now. I wonder if it's because they want to get this show over and done with and concentrate fully on their next new BL series? That one's called "Serpiente" and is heading our way very soon.

I wonder if it's because they want to get this show over and done with and concentrate fully on their next new BL series? That one's called "Serpiente" and is heading our way very soon. I am finally caught up with the last 4 episodes - I agree we need more Dave (especially since the lack of Nuan (and his dreamy brother) is so glaring). There were so many privacy violations in the illicit DNA test that I am amazed that the aunt was even remotely interested in testing various hairs for comparative DNA analysis. Though I have no idea what the law on that is in the Philippines. I suspect that we are never going to know who the Dad is - that this is a plot point that will end up as a loose end. I actually thought it was something like 2+ years that had passed - because Wil and Joey are supposed to be Seniors defending theses, while it isn't clear where Jimmy is at in his college studies (since he had at least one semester dropped when he was trying to hunt down Princess). This is one of those continuity issues that they really needed to have a person checking during filming - just like Joey's brother and Baby Butch didn't age at all over the span, or Jimmy's hair going from shorter to longer and back (and also from dark to dyed and back) from scene to scene. And Madame Tusha's boyfriend was present for Baby Butch's illness, but I thought he had already left her - and then she had no one but Jimmy for Christmas. Regardless of the continuity errors this show can at times have a big heart and make you really care for Jimmy and Joey. Things I really liked in this sequence - Madame Tusha being a force of nature trying to get Joey to admit his feelings for Jimmy, the Joey-Jimmy sardine fest (I have to say yuck for the fish, but yes to Jimmy at his most charming - and the two worked really well together in that scene) combined with Wil's sad realization that he was never going to get back with Joey, and Joey's smooth attempt to hold hands with Jimmy. If nothing else but for continuity sake, I would have actually been okay with Joey reaching out to Kenji to tell him that his nephew had died (regardless of their history - he was still family to Butch - and may have been at a point where he could tell Princess (if she is back in communication with her family after disappearing) - even if she cared more about herself than her kid, she should still know that her son had died). I also saw this posted on mydramalist by Pinoy BL Series: Hopefully they have all the scenes filmed - and it is just a matter of editing, etc. It has seemed like quite a gap since part 25 was uploaded.

There are rumblings that all is not well in the Star Image camp. As kevvoi mentioned above, Jodi Garcia is no longer with the company and left at very short notice. It has now emerged that his departure was anything but amicable and relations between him and Star Image have broken down completely. Similar to the spat that happened between Aki and Xion Lim over at 'My Day', it seems that this fracas is also destined to get messy and move into the public domain. Kapitan VJ (one of the five joint owners of Star Image) left a long diatribe on Facebook a couple of days ago in which he claimed Garcia was dismissed due to his scamming of both the company and the cast that he was working with. BTS rows over actors not being paid is now thought to be the real reason for Jules Indiola (Nuan) and Gabo Adeva's (Brenda) departure from the show. Drei Arias (Jimmy) is also believed to have left Star Image and moved to Pepps which could explain why he's suddenly been added to the 'My Toxic Lover' cast. Kapitan VJ also accused Garcia of sexual harassment against one of their young protegés, Sherwin Viray, which included inappropriate 'touching of private body parts'. Sherwin was the director of 'Pogi Lang Hanap' (Handsome Just Looking) but has now left Star Image. It probably explains why that series just disappeared without any explanation after the 6th episode and has never been mentioned since. Sherwin is now helming the upcoming 'Bed Weather' BL which is due to screen soon. Personally, I think it would be a shame if Amore didn't make it to the finish line. It only has 5 episodes to go and I'd hate for it to end up lost in limbo if things get bogged down in legalities.

It was good to see a new episode but in essence it comprised of the last scene from the previous episode, a Jimmy and Joey montage sequence of mainly old footage and a pointless scene of Joey whinging on about no longer being part of the Suma Cum Laude at college anymore. With only four (presumably short) episodes to go, I don't see how we'll satisfactorily get back to the book-end of Jimmy's ten-years later confession on the radio about losing the love of his life... ho-hum.
