This is a so far delightful Thai show - the first episode came out this past week. Here is an older trailer (I think they reshot some of the scenes because they don't quite match up to what was shown in the first episode): It follows Zon (a Sci-fi author and student) and Tutor. Zon's sister is also an author who has been writing a BL storyline that pairs her brother with Sai Fah. Sai Fah is another student at the University and is a musician. Zon and Sai Fah hate each other. It is one of the Thai storylines where a boy literally falls for another - but I quite enjoyed it. Tutor has his own problems with one of his seniors - Fighter. Mydramalist states that there will be 10 episodes: mydramalist.com/32592-why-r-u-the-seriesEdited to add another trailer:

I normally watch these series when they first come out but I want to try and wait until it gets to like ep 8/9 before I watch it cause I know I'm gonna want to binge it in one sitting.

Totally understandable. It's horrible how some international fans are so self-entitled... The part about them paying a TV station for airtime is interesting though. I thought that TV stations usually buy shows from production companies. Maybe it works differently in Thailand

The silver lining is that we will eventually get a Saifah-Zon-centric episode.

Nice that they finally put out a statement and laid out their plan. It been clear since EP9 that something is going on since no other BL show I seen would focus on just one couple for the entire episode, especially when the show was suppose to have 2 main couples. This isn't even including the other side couples. EP10 basically repeated the same thing aside from that quick SaifahZon scene. Since the news that corvid-19 had impacted the production, there been a lot of speculation that it is the reason why EP9, and then EP10, was structured the way it was, since the beach scenes was filmed months ago. A lot of fans started speculating what this might mean for the rest of the season, especially since most of us thought there was only 12 episodes. I just wish they put out this statement with EP9 instead of basically hoping that nobody notice the show has turned into the FighterTutor show.
From the statement, it sounds like most of FighterTutor scenes are filmed, so they won't be impacted too much by the shutdown. It sounds like the show will be using as much of their scenes as possible to fill in the gaps, so FighterTutor will basically be the only main couple for rest of the show. For SaifahZon, you can infer that a number of essential scenes did not get filmed before the shutdown, creating enough gaps in their storyline that it warrant a special episode after corvid-19 is over. Probably best to keep expectation low for this couple and expect choppy storylines and weird time skips due to the missing scenes.
For the other side couples... they barely appear even before this, so would we even notice if that continues? The ones I feel worst about is Blue and Dew, who had one of the 3 books, but is basically barely there.

Better be safe than regret later I agree. As much as we love the shows. I rather them be safe and healthy than risk filming and contracting the virus. It won't be the end of the world. I can only speak for myself as an international fan living in Georgia but at least they told us what they plan to do. Other fans getting in their feelings about it I think is just from being stuck in the house too long and just need a breath of fresh air.

So, I've just finished watching the last episode and have to say I really enjoyed it, despite the fact it was a troubled production scuppered by the Covid19 lockdowns. I loved that it had a happy ending (unlike the book) but I'm still left feeling quite sad that it's over and I won't be able to get my weekly fix of P'Fight and his enticing adam's apple any longer! I loved the original premise of the story and the self awareness it had in parodying many of the tropes and cliches that we have got so used to seeing in these types of series. I also liked the little animi inserts which were quite novel (did I just do a pun?) and helped underpin the whole meta tone the show seemed to be going for. Unfortunately, I do think it lost its way a bit at the two thirds stage when the spoofing and side-couples were jettisoned in lieu of the more straightforward storytelling of Fight-Tor's beach visit. Unavoidable I suppose, once the University they used for filming was shutdown at short notice and the majority of the footage they had available was from the already completed beach shoot. Having said that I found most of Fight-Tor's intimate scenes super-sexy to watch so I can't complain too much about it. While most of the cast did a good job, I have to show my current bias and say I thought Zee (Fighter) was the big stand-out in this. I know he's one of the DoMunDi boys, so no shrinking violet, but as a rookie actor in his first main role I thought he was outstanding. Kudos especially for the angry facing up to his homophobic father scene, and the even more emotional having his heart crushed by Tutor scene. Since there's not been an awful lot of comments on this thread talking about the story or acting for a while I guess most folk must have lost interest to a certain extent. I hope not as I really do think it is still one of the best BL's out there for entertainment value. It's certainly had some of the cutest fluff and some of the spiciest skinship in a BL that I have ever seen.

Unfortunately I am still 2 episodes behind and really preferred Zon and Saifah and most of the side couples - though Zee as Fighter has been nice to watch.

I actually really like the Tutor/Fighter relationship a lot. Yes, there were steamy scenes, but it was more than that. There was, for the most part, consent (baring that one bad scene, but Fight did leave in the end), which is so lacking in BL dramas. I also enjoyed the lack of heteoronormitivity forced into a same sex relationship, also typical in BL. None of that husband/wife stuff that bugs me so much. Basically they were a BL couple that didn't have the frustrating parts that make me wonder why I even watch them. Obviously a lot had to change because production shut down, so I do feel bad for the storylines that got cut/reduced, but I was still happy with how it ended.

What happened in the book? To be honest I don't know for sure. The show is actually an amalgam of two of Candy Onn's books. One is Tutor/Fighter's story and the other Saifah/Zon's. It's the basic premise from the S/Z novel that they went with for the series. According to the chit-chat on Wattpad (where there are fan-translations being done in various languages) it would appear that the novel ends with S/Z's relationship being revealed as nothing but Zol's fiction rather than reality. Also, I think in the Tutor/Fighter book, Fighter's father remains hostile to their relationship. Don't take this as gospel though. It's sometimes hard to follow conversations on Wattpad and Google Translation can often be more of a hindrance than a help!

Obviously a lot had to change because production shut down, so I do feel bad for the storylines that got cut/reduced, but I was still happy with how it ended. Yes I agree with you. I actually found the Tutor/Fighter relationship a breath of fresh air in many respects. When I first started watching WRU, I was praying Saint wouldn't be repeating the weak, shy, insipid, passive bottom that he played in LBC and thankfully he didn't. Tutor turned out to be a much more confident match to Fighter's supposedly dominant top; often taking control of the situation by not letting Fight get away with his teasing, and sometimes even turning the tables on him. In the final episode when we got the confirmation that their relationship was on a more consensual even-footing with Fighter's acceptance for them to flip-flop, I was grinning from ear to ear! Having said that, I do think the show undermined itself a bit by having that scene of Fighter forcing himself onto Tutor, or at least forcing himself to the extent he did before coming to his senses. The show had gone out of its way to emphasize just how important respect and consent had been to the development of their relationship and then they just threw this old-trope grenade into the mix to provide an unnecessary level of drama. The same emotional impact could have been achieved with a much more watered down confrontation in my view. Still, on the whole I loved the way Tutor/Fighter were written with the ever-changing dynamic of their relationship and the way they struggled with internal conflicts and feelings of hesitancy. Fighter's alpha-male facade cracking to reveal his own vulnerabilities or the softer side of his character was particularly well done I thought. And, as you say, they didn't saddle him with any dreadful "you're my wifey" monologues loaded with insidious I'm the real man in this relationship subtext. That's always a bonus.

overall, I liked it, but the show suffered too much from mashing together two couples with very different tones: comedic for SaifahZon and dramatic for FighterTutor. It feels like I am constantly switching channel between two different shows. They should have picked a tone and rewrite the other couple to fit that tone.
For all the side couples, I'm not sure how much can be blamed on the whole covid19 situation, but I felt like they should have jettison all the side couples (at least all the soccer player ones) and just focused on the two main couples. Far as I know, there was absolutely no interaction between the side couples and the main couples, so it just felt jarring every time we leave the main couples to focus on these side characters.

If I remember correctly, Saifah and Zon were talked into performing their musical number as part of a fund-raising activity for the soccer team - I think that was the connection. Otherwise, yeah it seemed more like multiple shows running at the same time. I also wish they had brought Zon's sister back at the end.

For anyone (like me) having withdrawal symptoms now that this show has ended, you may be pleased to know that LINE TV are going to run some new Behind the Scenes episodes starting on 14th May. I presume they will have different content from the BTS YouTube videos previously put out. Apparently there will be deleted scenes, extended versions of other scenes and some stuff that they considered too hot for the broadcast episodes.

That's interesting. Sadly, since I am mostly a fan of SaifahZon, I doubt those hot scenes are of them. They were way too innocent. Those deleted hot scenes are all probably FighterTutor

Hmmm.. I wonder if it will be the same concept that happened with OffGun from Puppy Honey to Theory of Love.. Either way I'm glad that they get to play another couple again. With that being said at least that shows us that they are comfortable enough with each other to play another couple in a new series.
