A few pieces of news:
- They will be beginning filming of the SaifahZon special episodes at the end of the month - Mii2 (actors for Saifah and Zon) will be likely getting a new BL series where they will be a couple again - The SaifahZon episodes will have at least 2 episodes. They said if their new BL series doesn't happen, it might be more than just 2. If it does, they will make at least 2 to fill in the gaps for SaifahZon

For anyone interested Saint and Zee have been appearing in a series of commercials with a running storyline for Medent Toothpaste (the brand we kept seeing them use in Why R U). The full version has now been released with English subtitles.

I remember sitting through this whole thing thinking the production for this is too good for it to be a toothpaste commerical. Made you feel like you were watching a whole new show.

So Zol deletes their story and Saifah looses all memory of their coupling? Well, I guess that is a new way to reset a storyline. Hopefully it will consist of more than one episode. Regardless, I am happy to see these two again. Edited to add - I guess this actually is a full series - Mydramalist lists 12 episodes: mydramalist.com/78141-saifahzon-story

BLDramaGalore had a post that the episode order was more like 2-3 episodes, more than I originally expected but less than what mydramalist is stating.

Episode 1 of Why RU has been added to YT on the official Why RU Channel. There's no Eng subs yet but they've confirmed subs will be added soon. The full series is going to be released at the rate of an episode every couple of days and according to the channel, some episodes will be different from the original version shown by Line TV.

Episode 1 of the SaifahZon Story has been delayed by a week and will now be released on Thursday 3rd December.
The producers have stated the delay is due to "the political situation that is going on."

That was a roller coaster - for about 40% of those 2 episodes - Saifah really needed a hug, then another 10% where Zon really needed a hug, then lots of hugging!
I have to say that the slimmed down cast really helped - even if it made the University look abandoned. And they made good choices on which side characters to bring back. I actually really like Zon and Zol - they did a good job of acting as siblings. Jimmy and Tommy have both improved as actors - especially Jimmy, who did an amazing job of portraying an absolutely crushed Saifah at the end of episode 1. It was also kind of refreshing not having beauty products, random snacks and bevarages, etc. being shoved into the face that a typical Thai show does.
Part of me is glad that the "delete the story, everyone forgets magical pairing of Saifah-Zon" did not actually happen and was all just an elaborate prank concocted by Natee that Saifah and Zol played along with. Part of me is sad though - because they could have expanded it into a whole season of Zon releasing that his feelings for Saifah are real and not the product of some fanfic written by his sister, as then we could have seen him try to win back Saifah for real.
The cuddly part at the end was nice. I was squeeing as hard as Zol was watching the makeout session in the kitchen.
Things I didn't like - the umbrella scene - it seemed like Saifah forgave Zon way too quickly after having his heart thrown away like the bracelet. Zon coming back didn't make much sense either.

You have to remember that this was not meant to be a full season. This is meant to fill in the gap between the concert and Saifah getting sick. Him searching for the bracelet in the rain is probably how he got sick in the first place, since it was always weird in the show that Saifah got sick out of nowhere.
Saifah did forgave Zon very quickly, but that is pretty in character since he has always been very forgiving. You can probably assume that Zon came back because he saw the rain and started worrying about Saifah. After all, he didn't have an umbrella before.
One thing I don't like about this whole extended flashback is how the tone of SaiZon has changed from the comedic to the dramatic. It was actually one of the main thing I loved about WRU is how they paired two storyline with very different tone and blended it very well. FighterTutor was always the super dramatic pairing, while SaiZon was the more comedic one. In the extended flashback, SaiZon was pretty much pure drama. This is just jarring if you try to insert this extended flashback in the original WRU.
Also, I believe there is one more episode to go. I wonder what they will do for the final episode when they basically resolved everything already? An episode of pure fluff (yes please!)?

I realize that - my thinking was more that a more clever writer/producer could have milked an entire season out of the storyline instead of these couple episodes. I wonder the same about episode 3 - but would be delighted by pure fluff.

I think they did the best they can. The time gap between the concert and Saifah being sick is just too short to drag this out for too much. I also feel like the original storyline involved a lot more people being in on the prank, something they can't do with all the covid restrictions. You can tell they struggled to depict a thriving university in the special (the Uni looks completely dead).
At least they filled in this gap cause it was always weird they went from the concert to no sign of them for multiple episodes until one sick Saifah scene. There is also the gap after the sick Saifah scene, but I guess that gap isn't as important to fill in.
Considering how much of a mess WRU end up being, I highly doubt there will be a S2 even when corvid restrictions are over. The only way forward I can see would be if they jettison every side couples. That way, they don't have to address all the gaping holes in their storylines. The biggest hole is the one with Blue being enemies with his teammate and the finale they are suddenly together. Maybe they go with "out of sight, out of mind"?

OK, I'm going to derail the thread for a moment to give a shout-out to a new non-BL show called You Never Eat Alone. The reason I'm adding it here is because one of the main stars is Zee but it also features fellow WhyRUers Jimmy & Tommy, and Max & Nat. Pairing up with Zee in the main role is Peak (from Make it Right) as Diew, the central character of the story who just can't eat alone! Other BL couples to appear are Prem & Boun and Leo & Tai (main couple from Friends Forever) Peak's old partner Boom also turns up. This gives out semi YYY vibes to me and some of the above couples still look very coupley in the trailer, which is not surprising considering the director is well-versed in BL output so I can't imagine him not adding a teasy flourish here and there. It certainly looks like it will be quite bromancy if nothing else. The YT trailer below doesn't have English subs yet but Lazy Subber has already provided a version that has. Got to admit this had me as soon as I saw big baby Zee in his shorts and beanie.
