Himself. I remember him being interviewed and to the question who do you wanna have in your bed? the answer was Thimotée Chalamet. This week there were pics of him on the press with Amaia Romero (spanish singer in this year's eurovision) the gossip magazine speculated they were more than friends (poor Amaia is linked to all his male friends lately) This was commented on a humor radio show and the male host directly said Isn't Omar gay? and the female host said, yes he is. I think what confuses some people is that all actors are quite open, when they played fuck, marry, kill with their characters all the male actors chose fuck or marry with at least a couple of male characters. Not everybody is Shawn Mendes, they seem to not have any problem with what people is going to guess

Élite was nominated to best drama on the Feroz awards (film and tv awards). I suppose that would be big surprise (i think it's the first teen show nominated) two months ago, but after the good reviews was kind of expected
Omar Ayuso appears (briefly) in indie band Miss Caffeina last video (it's a weird video like most of their videos). I think Omar is friend with the singer, he is a fan of the group and has pics with the singer way before start filming Élite. The song is inspired on other of the shows of this forum, Merlí (which is the title of the song)

Well i finished it yesterday and there's a lot going on.
The show has a lot of good things, it's fast paced, the cinematography is way above average (the directors are film directors), the characters are very different between them and it's pretty addictive. The show gives what it promise and even something more, the main problem is that fact pace makes that a lot of things that are there (corruption, religion, open relationships, bullying, HIV, etc) are treated on a shallow way (something very common on thrillers).
In my opinion there's a reason way Omander and Nadia/Guzmán are the most popular couples (in the case of Nadia/Guzmán there's a lot of merit because they don't even kiss in the whole first season) and it's the fact that Omar and Nadia are by far the most interesting characters.
Without the Shaana family this will be another teen show with a murder mystery, well done and addictive but that's all, but it's very refreshing to have a muslim family with normal problems (because lately all muslim characters on any shows seems to be linked to terrorist plots). Nadia and Omar are very different, but in the end they want the same, pleasing their parents, during the whole first season they navigate to accept themselves as something more than what their parents want them to be. It's curious that a bad thing like Guzmán outing Omar as drug dealer and gay change their relationship as siblings for the better. They are almost in the same position at the end of the first season that they were at the beginning with the big difference that they are not the same. Both knew love (or the posibility of having it) and they know that thing can't stay the same way. They are on the verge of a rebelious phase, Nadia didn't accept the conditions of his father to come back to school and Omar didn't rebel for himself, but he did for his sister. I doubt their father is the conservative rock he pretends to be. He lost his older daughter and i doubt he'll be able to endure to lost the other two.
It's curious that noone has a happy ending, the one closer to that is Ander. I know Omar and Arón decided that their characters wouldn't have an inner conflict with their homosexuality, they problems would be from outside, which is a refreshing approach given that when we have gay characters in a religious enviroment or athletes there's a lot of self hate in those storylines. That won't happen here. Ander in fact is on the verge of happiness after Guzmán knows he is gay, he is more than ready to public displays of affection or having a relationship in front of everyone. And even more after their parents knows it. He is in a almost good situation at the end of the first season, his relationship is restricted but he has someone who loves him, and he clear the situation with his father.
Guzmán is a character who grows a lot in first season, he is full of contradictions but he is able to do good things. I find very curious that he is way more controlling with his friends than with his love interests. He is the leader of the pack but even with good intentions (at least with Ander the good intentions are pretty clear) he has a very manipulative way of understand what friendship is. The different dynamics with Ander and Polo are not due to him but the different characters Polo and Ander had. It's clear that Guzmán opinion has a lot of influence on Polo but not on Ander who basically does what he wants no matter what.
The other two storylines don't work as well in my opinion. The Samu/Marina/Nano triangle is quite sterotypical, the actors have charisma an chemistry (the casting is really good and the chemistry between all the actors works really well) but the posh but rebel girl chosing between the good and the bad boy is something overdone. Samu is the most interesting character of the three, playing the good boy generally is a disadvantage but he shows some edges. Accusing his brother (he has reasons to think it was Nano) and then repent gives him plenty of room to evolve in second season. Nano is in my opinion the less interesting character, but being accused of killing the one you love should give him something interesting to do for second season. The creators said that it won't be jail scens so i suppose he'll be released soon, something expected given there's absolutely no prove against him. Being the one with more probabilities to be the killer is not the same than being the killer. Marina has the ability of being an unlikeable character by the end of the show (almost all the actors chose kill her in the marry, fuck, kill game). yes, noone has real reasons to kill her, but she was hated by all of them at one moment or other. And her fake rebelion was a little self serving (like when he betrayed Omar, i know he was only her drug dealer but she knew he was Nadia's brother and Nadia was a supposed to be a real friend).
Lu is a free agent. The creators said they had to cut a lot of Lu scenes. In my opinion she is very far from being the villain that was supposed to be. Yes, she is narcissist and vengative but she is far from being the cold b*** that is Carla. She has some funny moments, great one liners and by the end she shows she has a heart too, so the Nadia/Guzmán/Lu is still open and she probably will get a full develop in second season.
And there's the threesome which in my opinion doesn't develop the full potential. All the three characters should show more layers in second season. Polo was relentlessly bullying the whole season, Carla manipulates and controls him, his mothers don't support him, Carla's father was a total asshole with him, and even his best frien tries to control him (and realizing the Guzmán trusted something important like HIV status of Marina with Ander but not with him must be something difficult to swallow). And he explodes in the worst way when Marina spit the truth in his face. I don't think he is a psycho, and i expect the show goes in the total different direction some people think it'll go. Someone expect Polo to go totally dark, but i hope they bring him a love interest that keep him out of Carla's orbit. Yes, he is the killer but i hope they make us want him not be caught. I find we need to know more about Carla and Christian. Christian is on the verge of breaking, he put his ambition over his friendship, now he is an accomplice (like Carla). If Polo is caught they will follow him. And Carla is the real villain of the show, she will do everything to protect what she loves. She shows she is able to do anything, and i expect her to do the same in second season.
One of the best things of the show is the time devoted to every character is very similar, instead of promote relentlessly what the writers expect to be the main characters like it happens in most teen shows (which is a good idea because the most popular couples are not the ones that are at the center of the murder storyline).
I suppose we'll know new things in the following months (at least about the new characters)

Netflix keeps promoting the show (i read somewhere it was one of their top ten show globally) and upload interviews with the cast. Omander was the last one. The interview was done clearly just when the show was released. I think Arón was correct when he thought Ander and Omar would probably reunite but only after break and experiment (Ander more than Omar) with others. I think that was the initial intention, the creator entioned changing their minds after the success of the couple and think they have enough drama in their lies without adding a third. Omar talked about how surprinsinly eas were the sex scenes due to the good connection they have It's curious that Arón has a very similar viba with his character (he even recognize he and Ander had a lot in common) while Omar is very different from his character (even not as clear as Itzan is from Samuel). I suppose next month there`ll be some news about the casting for the second season because they are going to start the rehearsals soon

They will probably announce it in the trailer, but we could expect it around the same time as last year: early October. But then they've finished filming and it could be sooner than that.

No, maybe you are thinking about La casa de papel (which is one of Netflix biggest hits, right now i don't remember the english title).
Élite was their second spanish original

Yeah, I think that's what happened. I just got them mixed up with another show.
I'm curious if the show will pick up right at the new school year? I do wonder if they will have Omar protect Nadia's relationship with Guzman as she protected his relationship with Ander. I doubt Guzman and Nadia will stay apart for long, even with Guzman's promise. He's in love with her and I don't see her letting anyone tell her how she can live her life anymore.

Unless the plot of the next season is finding out who took some scandalous photo, this teaser showed nothing...

the tester was nothing reason why I posted is that the new season earlier than we expected How do we know that it's earlier than expected? I didn't see a season 2 premiere date? The empty teaser suggests it's still a long way off if they don't even have enough clips edited to make a proper trailer! I really hope Elite won't fall victim to the sophomore season "curse". So many shows start out strong in season 1 and then they decide they've got a captive audience so in season 2 they begin cutting down the very things that made season 1 interesting and popular. Nudity is typically the first to go - suddenly everyone will be having sex fully-clothed. Then the gay/bi romances are shoved to the sidelines.

I'm assuming season two is gonna be mainly trying to get to who really killed her and the cover up that happened afterwards. I do think this is one of the shows where the nudity isn't going anywhere and the sex will be amped up. I just hope it doesn't fall to the sophomore curse of the writing and substance going downhill.

Sorry for being off topic. I figured since Elite is a thread about a Spanish show, maybe there are Spanish speakers here who can tell me more about a show called Bia. It's apparently a new Spanish show and might include a gay storyline. I'm not sure though. Please, if someone knows anything, please tell me about it.

No, it's not spanish, by the accent i would guess it's from argentina.
Given what one of the guys said i think the fan video is one of those ships that are not based on the storyline because one of them seems to be the love interest for the female lead

At first I was confused because there are a bunch of accents: Spanish ( the guy un the checked shirt and the Asian looking girl), mexican, venezuelan but mostly Argentinian. So I googled the show and it is in fact Argentinian.

When I heard about news about season two coming out, I was expecting it to be September. Mainly cause it's about a story based in a school and students. Though I wouldn't be surprised if it was middle September to late September to build up the hype.
