I actually thought the Omar-Ander bed scene was fairly hot - both actors were clearly nude, and in a position that implied sex. Yes it didn't match up to the pilot scene of Guzman and Lu doing it in the showers but honestly, there was more nudity in that first episode than the remaining seven combined - clearly intended as a lure for viewers.
I wish there'd been more of Ander and Guzman's friendship - although I thought it incredibly one-sided with Guzman doing most of the legwork. It did more to soften him than anything else; Ander was mostly ungrateful and unhelpful. Even when he visited Guzman after their family lost everything, it was only to blackmail Marina and the implication was he didn't care about Guzman's troubles at all. He's a poor friend. Kind of sad that of the two gay-straight best friend pairs, the straight boys are portrayed as the more sincere ones. They could at least have reversed it for Omar-Samuel. But it's good that they gave both of them straight best friends instead of girls (like on Malhacao - even Santiago the football player's best friend is a girl).
I also wish the bicurious angle was explored with Guzman rather than Polo - not only because Miguel B's hot, but because I don't think they're going to explore it further with Polo. I agree that scene was hot though.
Anyway, the show has already been renewed for season 2 so maybe they can redeem themselves with an explicit Ander-Omar sex scene. Or maybe I'll get my wish and Guzman gets involved in some gay action after all.

Really very troubled to read about the homophobic backlash, I didn't think a show with this one's target audience would garner such a horrible response.
Glad that it seems to have done well in viewership and is a lock for a second season.
If they find a way to get Guzman in on the gay action next season my screen will spontaneously combust.

I find the gay storyline because it's interesting in so many ways. There's the expectatives of the family, not only in Omar but in Ander's story too, there's self aceptation on both characters and accept they love each other. I find interesting their interactions with their friends, and the class differences (even Ander is not exactly one of the rich kids like his best friend Guzman, he is high middle class in contract with Omar who is poor). And there's religion in the mix. I like how they find a way to end the season with hope even when almost every obstacle they have is still there.
I like how sexy is the threesome storyline, and Polo is a character that could evolve very interestingly in the second season. The fact that Christian is so open and hedonistic is intersting too.
I like it that a show that is clearly destined to young audiences and to be guilty pleasures found a way to tell interesting stories at the same time that entertains

What i find a little surprising is that i didn't found videos of the threesome storyline (apart of some scenes). There are a lot about Ander and Omer, a good bunch of Guzman with Nadia and with Lu, Marina with Samuel and with Nano but not an episode guide with Carla, Polo and Christian (at least not till now).
It's quite uncommon that they had a MMF threesome storyline instead of the usual MFF one, specially on a show that already has a prominent gay storyline

Overall, I didn't like this show. It struck me as a highly derivative pastiche of other better shows. The main gay story line is OK, I suppose. I don't find Ander all that likeable or interesting, but Omar's predicament with his father is pretty interesting, IMO.
The threesome story intrigued me at first. I had hopes that the show was going to explore sexual fluidity and that some affection would develop between Polo and Christian, but it all devolved into an all too typical battle over the girl and homophobic confrontations. I thought Polo was potentially the most interesting character, but now he is hopelessly ruined as a sympathetic character.
Why do so many shows these days need to be so dark? I think it's becoming tired.

The backlash didn't have anything to do with the audience of the show. Netflix used an Omander pic and people and appeared in some people's instagram feed or something like that. It was quite funny given one of the most homophobic comments came from a guy who used Judas Priest as nickname (i suppose he didn't know the singer of that band is gay)

The show was renewed for a third season. The second will start rehearsals next month. Like La casa de las flores they will film the second and the third seasons together which is great for the actors who will have premiere two years and plenty of time to do other projects.
I was surprised by the good reviews because critics generally are very exceptic to this type of show but in my opinion creators had a very good idea. The show was designed to be a guilty pleasure and they went away with it. It's fast paced, they don't spend episodes and episodes around the same so make it addictive. The cast is great they have very good chemistry.
Apart of the cinematography (the way is filmed is way better than what you usually watch in this kind of shows, both directors worked on films before doing tv) what it works is they mixed really well different things, the show works as thriller but as a typical teen show too, and have some comedy moments to release. They knew what they wanted to tell but they didn'r renounce to introuduce a lot of different themes, corruption, class fights, religion, drugs, hiv, open relationships and so on.
On the gay storyline, maybe because they had a limited number of episodes but i really appreciate that they didn't go the usual route. They have an athlete and a guy in a very conservative religious enviroment but instead of going the usual route of tortured sexuality they had two characters who accepted they are gay and don't struggle with that. They struggle with their circumstances but not with their sexuality.
I remember an article on El País when the show was released that talked about the possibility of Omar and Ander being the fiction couple of the year. It was a relationship between a drug dealer and his client, but in my opinion it goes way beyond that because the characters are not sterotypes (and that worked in that way for other characters in the show too).
I liked that both had straight male best friends too, and that their relationship with Samuel and Guzmán are very different. In fact it's interesting to see the differences between the relationship Guzmán has with his two best friends, he is controlling in his friendship, but Ander and Polo react to that in very different ways
In my opinion the best achievement of the show is the muslim family. It was a very good idea because it's a pretty normal muslim family (lately you only get muslim characters in terrorism storylines). Nadia and Omar are great characters and i like that instead of big changes the show did small ones with them. At the end of the show Omar wanted way more that some release and Nadia just wanted to be herself and not what her parents wanted her to be (and we know they have a sister and that something happened with her). In some terms they are exactly at the same point that they were at the beginning of the show, but they were very different people.
By the way in one of his interviews Omar Ayuso was questioned about which famous he would like to have in his bed, his answer was Thimotée Chalamet, so i suppose his is not straight (he was way more informed on what's a gay diva and a gay hymm than Arón for sure).
The cast seem to go along pretty well, so i hope they are able to deal with this sudden success in the best way and this not end in a toxic enviroment like other teen shows that became hits

Does anybody know if the actor who does Omar is gay, straight or bi?

I didn't like the show, problematic in many ways I've taken a long time to finish. Honeslty, I'm not here for straight "allies" friends being obnoxious trying to take gay characters of the closet. Hey buddy, nobody owns you a coming out, let them come out to you when they are confortable to do so. Also the same people pretending to be allies keep using homophobic slurs and shaming other people for being gay.
Ader: Too pushy, spoiled kid
Omar: Such little angel, the best character of this show by far.
About the threesome storyline, of course they had to make the bisexual character a psycho, what a cliche.

Sorry but i don't agree at all.
Polo is not a psycho (at least not now), he was subtlely bullied the whole time and had a very bad reaction when Marina told him the truth.
I don't think Guzmán thought of the consecuences of telling Nadia Omar was gay (at the end the consecuences were the relationships between the sibling evolved in a very positive way), he simply reacted to her trashing of his family. Nadia is a great character but sometimes she is very entlited.
And i don't understand why people say Ander is a spoiled brat. In the end he is doing exactly the same Omar is doing, trying to please his father. In fact i think he is a refreshing character. Take any gay teen athlete in similar shows and you get a storyline full of self hate. You don't get that this time, he goes downhill for a while taking drugs because he has the pressure of expectations (he is not one of the rich kids) but after that he comes out, accepts himself and wants to be with Omar.
I have to end the season, but in my opinion is the best teen show in a good while. They know what they want to tell and they did it but they offer way more. There's a balance between the storylines (something you don't usually get, and it's one of the main complains on shows like Riverdale), there's a clear development on the characters (even Lu which spent first season throwing shade and memorable one liners had a couple of scenes that make you believe she is way more that the cold bitch she pretends to be).
And the muslim family was a very good idea. Omar and Nadia are great characters and the evolution of their relationship is interesting to watch. They are at the same point at the end of the show, but at the same time they are totally different persons.
And of course there's all the technical qualities of the show and the care for the details like the clothes of the characters. In my opinion is miles better than most shows it's compared.
And yes, Omar Ayuso is gay
