So, I'm not sure if the interviewer (Jim Halterman from TBL) was thinking about spoilers with some of the questions that he had asked Groff.
The one about a sex scene was pretty telling.

Excited and sad...gonna miss looking forward to it every week. The main thing that sucks about HBO is that you have to wait a year for the next season. Gonna miss them!

This show has slowly, steadily become one of my favorite things on TV. The break between seasons is going to seem far, far too long -- but at least we get another season!

View AttachmentAh...so glad that Richie and Dom were the ones that actually grew from what they each experienced. Patrick, in his actions has given Kevin (the charming user) the knowledge that he can (and will be) his side piece. Agustin's still continuing to go down his self sabotage hell hole. Doris is still the best.

Absolutely great episode. I got emotional listening to what Richie said to Patrick about himself and about Patrick because it was all true and i am just happy and i am so glad it got picked up for a second season because i think it will get real interesting considering the whole Kevin thing. Sucks having to wait a year but i can't wait for season 2.

Patrick so easily gave into him (and really how much of that speech he gave to Patrick held any truth?) that I was like "ahhh~ no Patrick what are you doing?!" Side note - the tweeked out guy on the BART is something I've seen many a time...lol

So, because Richie wants to be valued for who he is, stands up for himself and is honest about his feelings and says that his friends aka "his people" would never have treated Patrick in the way that he AND Agustin had in the past, that somehow means that Richie's a thug and has been in a gang or IS currently in a gang? How is it that a character, is written as being upfront and honest about their feelings and how they want and deserve to be treated, it's looked down upon as a negative thing? He's seen as being "too sensitive", "hot under the collar", "reckless" and now "thug like gang member"?

None of those things really describe Richie, but for a lot of people he Latino, so he must be thuggish. And Kevin is the pretty, perfect, white boy, which is why of course, you see so many folks thinking Kevin and Patrick are 'destiny', even though Kevin is a liar and a cheat who manipulated his employee into having sex at the office. Cause they are the foundations of a long lasting relationship and a boyfriend you can trust.

Cause they are the foundations of a long lasting relationship and a boyfriend you can trust. It's pretty sad to say, but I really do agree with you in your opinion on why Richie and Kevin are seen in that way by some viewers. Kevin really hasn't been honest. Not at all. Either to his boyfriend, who moved his entire life to be with him in the same city, to Patrick - who is his employee and lastly be honest with himself. All the times he was flirting, inappropiately with Patrick, he was waiting on him to get the clue to make the first move. He already let him know about the "problems" with his long distance relationship, but Patrick didn't take the bait. That was before Patrick thought that he had another chance with Richie. Weeks go by and Kevin must have known that something was up with Patrick. He was coming in late, probably with a spring in his step due to Richie AND he probably wasn't open to the flirting anymore. Patrick didn't even know that Jon had permanently made the move to SF, until Kevin (and Jon) "accidentally" ran into Pat, his friends and his boyfriend in the park that day. None of their interactions have been on the up and up. It's been one manipulation after the next. Some viewers can say that since the boyfriend wasn't shown all the time, that he doesn't really matter to the future status of Kevin and Patrick, but he does. He's the big pink elephant in the room. He's in Kevin's life. The idea that Patrick would be more at ease, in being the other man, booty call, side piece to his boss over being romantically involved with a Latino barber is just really sad and maybe the real eye opening statement about how some folks interpret the "perfect man" persona. Kevin's supposedly the "perfect man" in regards to pedigree, education, status, money, looks and ethnicity.

Originally I was for Patrick and Kevin, mostly because I love Russell Tovey and I want him on my screen for as long as possible. I'm very blinded by that. However, I if I think about it objectively Richie is far better for Patrick. Although, I think Richie deserves someone better than Patrick right now. Patrick needs to get over whatever issues he has. Also, I'm not sure the point they were trying to make with Patrick bottoming when he was with Kevin. I didn't really like it because I felt it undermined his relationship with Richie. Patrick was just getting to the point of being comfortable trying it with Richie, despite not enjoying it (or at least he's not willing to admit he enjoys it - unclear because of his issues). People might think that Patrick allowed Kevin to top because they are "meant to be", but I think it's more because of the manipulation by his boss, than him actually being comfortable with it.

Someone that really knows what and who they want in their live and that they're willing to not see the potential as Richie as a partner as a "challenge". Yet, I still want Patrick to find some sort of peace within him self, about who he is and be ready to deal with who and what he wants in his life. From what we've seen about Patrick, I just don't think that he'll be fine in the position as the "other man". Regardless of his taken guy being portrayed by Russell Tovey. Patrick's the guy, who was glad that his first sexual experience happened out of his home state. Folks think that he'll be fine in being his boss' side piece in SF?!

Here's the thing I think, from everything Ive read, and watching the episode over and over again that the whole side piece thing is not the point, I would be shocked if they continue to just sleep together. Thats been done so many times and its boring after a while.
The last scene where Richie declares his feelings for Patrick. Neither of them walked away in fact Patrick kept rubbing his hand on Richies neck. I don't think that scene was meant to break them up, the opposed in fact. Patrick has a way of reeling Richie back in when he tries to pull away, and I think thats exactly what was done. Patrick has deep feelings for Richie and with Richies declaration, I think they maybe just agreed to take things slower.
When Patrick went inside of his apartment, he wasn't angry or sad, just tired after his very long day, and seeing Augustin made him genuinely smile if he and Richie broke up I doubt he'd be as ok with Augustin being there.
Which leads me to my final point. Kevin has feelings for Patrick, from Looking for 220 an hour, we've seen the looks Kevin gives Patrick, and during Doms birthday though Owen works with them, the only person Kevin wanted to see was Patrick, and he though they talk all the time he never discussed the fact that Jon moved to SF?. At the wedding a drunk Kevin pulled a drunk move and went for it.
The final scene between Kevin and Patrick is important because Kevin didn't lie and say that he didn't have a boyfriend anymore, and thats why his feelings are a real problem. He has a boyfriend, with whom he loves, who he's been with for two years, and who is now living with him after moving to be with him. And now he is attracted to and has now slept with Patrick, his employee. Thats a shitty situation to be in, and thats why he answered Patricks question of "whats next," with "Idk" because what can be next. They don't love each other, they have feelings of intense attraction towards each other, but thats really it. He's not going to give up a committed relationship for Patrick just because they slept together, but he's also now cheated on his partner, so he and Jon can't go back from that in terms of their relationship because he fucked up.
Kevin doesn't seem like a truly bad guy, (though he can be an asshole). Nor does Patrick because when he slept with Kevin he really believed that Richie didn't want to see him again, and Kevin probably wanted to confront his feelings for Patrick because of how embarrassed and frustrated he was.
I think next season, especially with both Raul and Russell being regulars, that Patrick and Richie will date and continue to fall in love. That patrick is able to grow with Richie, that he is able to try to deal with his issues. All the while he continues to cultivate this entire thing with Kevin that isn't based on sex. So Patrick and Kevin will continue to try to be friends and co-workers, all the while running into each other with their significant others and the awkwardness that comes with that, all the while tip toeing around their attraction and what happened. I don't think Kevin or Patrick are cliche enough to carry on a work place affair, and with Kevin in a long term relationship, and Patrick clearly falling in love with Richie they aren't going to immediately be together. Its gonna be a slow burning relationship.
Thats hotter and more interesting than them continuing to sleep with each other and dating other people, and then everything coming out.

Welcome to the discussion, Cleanteen
I would love it if Patrick and Kevin both understand what they could both lose if they were to act again on their sexual attraction and decide to not go there again.
Yet, there's a huge viewing audience that truly thinks that those two are "epic", "destiny" and "made for each other", because they have similarities (culture, education, background) and want to see them together and having sex again.
The topic of Jon is never brought up, Richie is viewed as this negative thing that is keeping Patrick from, supposedly being true to himself and the thrill of seeing Groff and Tovey naked together again, overthrows any sort of character growth that could happen for both Patrick and Kevin.
I do think that there's going to be an affair between Patrick and Kevin in the next season, because I think it'll be something tragic that will further keep him from letting himself be loved by someone that wants to truly be with him, outside of sex.

I do think that there's going to be an affair between Patrick and Kevin in the next season, because I think it'll be something tragic that will further keep him from letting himself be loved by someone that wants to truly be with him, outside of sex. But here's the thing. Patrick and Richie no matter how much they like each other and may eventually fall in love are so totally different that it can never truly work. I don't know if Patrick and kevin are meant to be, but they have undeniably chemistry and their attracted to each other in a way that I don't see with Patrick and Richie. What patrick said to his mom about Richie says ALOT about his feelings towards him. Patrick is only going up in terms of his life and work, where as Richie is just a barber As Kevin has stated he needs someone who understands what it is they do. , That is why i truly believe that Patrick will fall for richie and they will be happy, for an extended period of time. Richie has helped him grow as a person which is why i think that his bottoming for Kevin is significant, not because its OMG he's bottoming like he's never done it before, its OMG he's bottoming and is ok with it because of the growth he has experienced by dating Richie. Richie is fucking fantastic, but Patrick doesn't deserve him , and is only going to break his heart. As for Patrick and Kevin the final scene where Patrick looks at the necklace that richie gave him moments after sleeping with Kevin and his really not caring about the response Kevin gives him, makes it clear that this was a moment of weakness a one off. And especially if Richie and he are able to continue, what I know about Patrick is he doesn't want to hurt the people he loves. So why would he hurt Richie by continuously cheating on him? He and Kevin have has a physical affair, I think next season will see them built on to that, one of emotional depth, which is more fun than them running around hooking up behind their boyfriends backs. I think the reason people love Patrick and Kevin because When Patrick is with Kevin he is now confident and sexy, and hilarious. Their banter is amazing and their chemistry is undeniable. The scene when they have sex is one of the hottest i have ever seen on tv. Its obvious to me that Kevin is Mr. Big. And there has never been a tv show where the main character does not end up with their Mr. Big.

But, Looking is not SaTC and folks are using that to justify wanting to see Patrick and his whatever changing Kevin. While also saying that it's Richie that has to constantly put himself and his heart on the line, in some sort of Latino shaman written solely to help Patrick out from his inner turmoil, so that he ends up with Kevin as the prize.
There are fans, who want more for Richie and if he has to let go of Patrick for good, in order for that to happen, then so be it.
