I can't confirm if Mane is no longer on the show but I saw the new opening credits on YT and Mathias is no longer featured in them. All signs point (sadly) to his exit from this show. That is what I figured. Oh well.. maybe it's fine. I mean.. the storyline was kinda going downhill anyway. At least now it can't get any worse

I'm just curious, what do you think of the show's opening credits? SPOILER (highlight to read) Regarding Mathias' (Måne) break, it's a little weird. He left the show back in December, but I thought he would have come back by now, but apparently not. As you have seen, he is not in the new opening sequence, hence it will probably take a good deal of time before he returns. Yet, we know he is going to return (thanks to a now deleted Instagram-picture), I guess his comeback will only be some later than I expected.

Is there really no statement from the show? He's a major cast member You'd think they would announce that he'd left the show. That's weird.

Is there really no statement from the show? He's a major cast member You'd think they would announce that he'd left the show. That's weird. A few times it is a statement/news report about the departure, but usually not. Most times the character simply disappears from the screen. For example: Last year left eight major characters left the show. Only two of these departures were revealed by the show. Four of the remaining characters just disappeared out of the blue, including both Sol and Måne. Two of the departures were expected due to 1) the actor worked on another major television program and 2) the character was removed from the opening sequence (months before her departure ...). But of course, if you are a true fan, you know about some more of the departures in advance, but still, most of them are quite unexpected. I guess the show is just pretty good at avoiding leaking spoilers...

Sorry about the delay on the new part; I've had problems with the pile of crap that is my computer, in addition to other priorities (a busy school schedule being one of them). I'm working on it as we speak and it will probably be published when one of the totally awesome subbers finish making the subtitles. ^^
I also thought I'd give my input on the discussion.
Hotel Cæsar is quite different from what you all would be used to from other soap operas, e.g. American soaps, in a lot of respects. To name a few - the influx of spoilers, the durability of cast members, and the impact of fans on storylines. When a new person appears on screen in an American soap, you're usually told whether or not he/she/ze is recurring or on contract, and if the latter, how many years they are contracted for. In Norway, we rarely hear of cast exits or additions, character deaths or storylines before they actually happen on screen; it doesn't matter if they're major characters or not. It's also very hard to tell the direction of a story from the information you're given by the show alone - nevertheless, as the show has become more and more stuck in its formula, it has become a lot easier to predict.
This isn't all that surprising because, as opposed to in America, the market isn't all that big (Norway being a small country) and furthermore, attention/fan contribution surrounding the shows is, as a result, very limited. In addition, fans rarely have a say in storylines because it is pretty much impossible for that to happen, considering their shooting schedules (HC shoots their episodes six months in advance).
As for the removal of Mathias from the opening; I wouldn't put much stock in it, as it isn't always such a great indicator of what is to happen in the future. Even Sol was in it, and she was only on the show for about a month.
We know that he returns to the show sometime in the future, because an Instragram picture was posted by the actor that plays Måne's father of him and Mathias on set about a month ago. Also, this tweet: He wrote in response to a fan who commented that Måne was too much involved with business: "Cæsar is mostly about business, but there will be some drama outside of the office soon in a bit." Considering this was posted about two weeks before Måne left and he was still mostly involved with the business storylines at that point, I'd wager that there are definite chances for a Måne return and that his storyline won't be too business-heavy. However, don't quote me on that - I said before, Cæsar is mostly unpredictable in that regard and there's no telling what's in store for his character.

I'm a bit confused. Has the character been written off the show? Or, is the actor just not appearing on the show for a while (which is different) That's what I was trying to figure out. If a character leaves a show, any show, usually there will mention in television press (even after the fact) if the character is a lead character. They have to explain it somehow if the actor has left the show permanently otherwise the story doesn't make any sense.
Mane came out then disappeared so are we meant to believe he has left the show for good and there will be no more mention of him or is he just on a break and will return for sure at some point in the future?
That's what I'm unclear about.

HQ75, if I understood correctly, Mane was written off the show; we don't know if his absence is permanent or temporary, or how long it will be if temporary. The only thing we know if that the actor was spotted on set and may be back. But the show tapes 6 months in advance so he could be gone for a pretty long time. I believe he is filming a movie, which could account for time off from HC.
One thing for certain is that he's been taken out of the credits. Since they left Sol in for a while after she left the series, my personal guess is that this indicates an extended, potentially-permanent absence. It's a crying shame if it's permanent because I feel the character had a lot of story left to tell now that he's finally come out. And Mathias plays the role very well and is also very nice to look at.

justinate: I would say you got it right. He'll probably be back later this year, but it's unknown when it will be and how long it will last. We'll just need to wait and cross our fingers!

Spoiler: Måne returns (or maybe he already has, I don't have time to watch during the evening) to the series sometime this week. Also, I believe Bitten and Sol are with him. We have a few parts left to upload that aired before he left, after which we will continue with his more recent episodes.

Thanks for the latest uploads. I see from the comments on Youtube that there continues to be a high level of dissatisfaction about Måne's behaviour since he became embroiled in his great-uncle's corporate intrigues, and the lack of a gay romance since he came out. While I'm not pleased either about the latter, I'm disappointed with the reaction to Måne's corporate involvement. I'm starting to understand why TV writers almost inevitably fall over themselves in their attempts to canonise gay teen characters. I personally don't need to see another gay saint, which IMO makes for boring viewing. So Måne has errantly adopted Jens-August as a role model and followed in his footsteps as a shady jerk; it doesn't reduce my interest in him - quite the opposite if anything! I have faith that this will all blow up in his face and he will learn a hard lesson - IMO that makes for more interesting viewing than having him cheer on the good guys. But could he learn this lesson while falling in love with a cute boy his age? I'm totally in support of that.
I do reserve to take back my support for the corporate story if it leads to my concern from a preview video for next week. Apparently someone dies in some kind of boating accident (?) on June 13th and it seems Måne, along with Jens-August and Eva, are among the top contenders for the body bag. Please don't tell me they're bringing back Måne only to kill him off? Now that would be totally unforgivable!

I think this past week was the summer finale - and the mystery of who died in the explosion will only be revealed when the series resumes in autumn. The following is a clip of the last minutes of the season finale, with a preview of next season that reveals very little about what's to come. One can only hope that Måne makes it out alive (I didn't even see him on the boat, but then he was definitely shown floundering in the water during a behind-the-scenes video).

He came back but without any major storyline (as for now). Now the show is on a summer break till August.
