also, i can understand how it's taking SO long to cast this... how are they going to find a good US actor - gay or straight - who'd be willing to tie himself to a gay role in a TV show that's destined to run for years?! that just doesn't happen these days.

I couldn't imagine that there would be a 10 year comittment. QAF was only 5. They had a really hard time casting Brian for the series. They were starting to give up hope when Gale Harold read for the role.

I'm also glad that their still on track with this and I read a couple things on a message board now keep in mind that this only rumors so please take it with a grant of salt.Ok first off I read that they were hoping to launch it in 2012 sometime around August or September.More then likely it will be shown on ShowTime rumor has it HBO passed on it I also read that they were looking for A-list actors so I don't know if they have cast anybody as of yet.As I said before it's all rumors so please take it with a grain of salt.

i wonder if they will credit VL in some formal way? "based on" or "adapted from" or even a writers credit..? i get the impression it's format will be far removed from the glamour soap VL is, and if they're looking to cast big actors, is that even an association they want? it will be strange to see an american view on things. i really don't know how well parts of the story will take.

I think they will have to credit VL in some way what is happening is they are wanting to cash in on Christian and Olli.Christian and Olli have a amazing fan base all around the world even though they are based out of Germany. They became even more popular then Luke and Noah their fanbase is huge here in The United States.I also believe they will stay true to their story form when it began untill now I also heard that the main reason why they want to go to either HBO or ShowTime.Their will be sex scenes and I mean sex scenes that you couldn't get away with like on networks like CBS,ABC,NBC,FOX,or the CW.All in all if in the right hands this will turn out great.

You know here's the thing that's on my mind ok if this is true and it's going to launch in August 2012.Then one would have to say that they've got a network to go ahead with it they've got the writers, producers, directors and most important the actors.I just wish they would release some kind of statement either confirming or dening it.

Once again, second hand word is that it is definitely on track for Showtime broadcast starting in August 2012. Casting has been a challenge, but not necessarily focused on name brand actors. They are primarily focused on getting actors that have real chemistry and are aware of the longer term commitment that the role will require. They think the program, particularly given the change in attitudes within the US viewership, could run for a very long time and know that should one of the principals decided to leave - it would be difficult to go on. Format is weekly 1 hr evening broadcast, after 10pm eastern. Starting with 2 hr "Pilot" broadcast, hoping to release that in the early summer and then run up promotion of program to August. Although this makes a lot of sense, it is second hand information. I suspect they will definitely give credit to VL, as they do on their site. Hopefully, they would give credit to Nanna and May for making the interest of the North American viewership, possible

I would love for Jo and Thore but I don't see how they could unless they make a guest apperance.Cause I'm sure their tapping schedule is pretty hectic.

Oh, I am sure there will be acknowledgment of the VL cast and team. As for casting, I would assume it would depend on how young do they plan on having the couple, at the onset of the story? Although everyone would love to see Thore and Jo continue with the roles, on either side of the Atlantic; I would assume that if they should decide to leave VL then it would be to do something different. Just my guess.... The American version is going to be challenged to replicate the chemistry - that is for sure. Fingers crossed, however. Meanwhile, we have the german version with Jo and Thore, to enjoy

Glad to hear that the project is still going ;D I'm very excited at the thought of seeing again Christian and Olli storyline from the start. Does anyone know something more about this? Even if I know it would be a really hard task finding two actors who have the same chemistry Jo and Thore have.

If ShowTime is really thinking about doing this then we the fans have to pressure them into relasing some kind of statement either to confirm or deny this rumor. And I found away to do it for the US fans go to ShowTime.com then click on the contact information then click on ask a question.Leave your e-mail address, the subject, and your message then under topic click in ShowTime, then under categoory click in ShowTime General.I'm telling you if enough people will do this ShowTime will have to release some kind of information the public.

I think an American version of the Christian and Oliver story is a bad idea because the original version was so specific to Germany and German culture. I liked watching VL the German version because I was learning things about a culture different than my own. I think that's what makes VL so unique is that it is a European soap. I remember when the Americans made their version of Queer As Folk and it was terrible not as good as the British original. I won't be watching this American version of VL. American television is just trashy most of the time and don't deal with LBGT characters very well.

I get where people are a little uneasy about a US Version of Christian and Olli I get that believe or not I am too.And it's like I have said before it depends on who's behined the scenes like the producers. Will they stay true to the story and not just throw something together? And also the actors that will be playing Christian and Olli. Will they watch the clips on YouTube, will the try too contact Thore and Jo and get advice? Also they have to have amazing chermistry the reason why Christian and Olli have the international success they have is because Jo and Thore have chermistry that is off the charts. All we can do is hope for the best.
