What do you hope for in 2010 for your favorite pairs (no spoilers): A Christian/Olli wedding and then they leave the show to live happily ever after abroad - before the writers do more damage!

Ok, I'm wide awake, and shouldn't be so here goes. I feel like a traitor for some of my answers, but I have focussed them on 2009, not any other year...

Best Storyline: Oooh, tough one. I think the slow getting back together of DeRo, because the way the writers/ actors/directors pulled it off was just magical. It could have been a total train wreck, but instead was intense, emotion, riveting and adorable and ultimately believable that here were two characters who really had changed and developed.

(second choice would be GZSZ but Lenny is making it painful to watch right now!)

Worst Storyline: Christian and Olli being friends with Rebecca. Acting issues aside, I just find it insane that that pair would REALLY genuinely chose to spend time with someone they have absolutely nothing in common with.

Best Actor: horrid question. I'd have to say Dennis Grabosch- in 2009 he truly has created some moments that have stopped my heart and made me cry with happiness, frustration and sadness. Sometimes in the same episode. (sadly, neither Jo nor Thore have been given any material to challenge that... )

Best Actress: GAH! Toss up between Katrin Hess and the lady who plays Simone in AWZ.

Actor or Actress Most In Need Of Acting Lessons: Oh, don't make me say it. Ok. We all know.

Best Supporting Character (including f*g hags): Judith. Hands down. Followed closely by Axel Schwarz, just for the comedy.

Worst Supporting Character (including f*g hags): Rebecca.

Best Friendship: (remembering that this is 2009, not 2008) Carsten and Dominik, GZSZ- he really stepped up when Carsten needed a friend.

Worst Friendship: Ollian and Rebecca. Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig mistake.

Biggest Missed Opportunity: Gregor and his helicopter money troubles. Whatever happened to that dodgy loan??

Best Chemistry: Just so it's not all German I'm going to say Harel and Amir, Til the Wedding.

Biggest WTF? Moment: Olivia's death in VL. Seriously, WTF?

Biggest Waste Of Time (character or storyline): Again, Rebecca.

Best Song Moment: Revolverheld, Unzertrennlich, for the DeRo reunion. A big kiss from Show to the loyal fans.

Worst Song Use: The constant use of Lily f****** Allen on VL AND AWZ:(

Best Storyline Twist: Stella arsing up in AWZ, thus facilitating DeRo's slow reunion- and all the twists along the way with that. I thought I would have heart failure before all those twists finished!

Worst Storyline Twist: 1) Eduard"I challenge you to a duel, Gregor Mann" Flippa "WTF? IS it 1687?" 2) Noah goes blind...

Best New Character: Katja, AWZ. Only started this week, but I love her already!

Worst New Character: Did Stella (AWZ) start this year? If so, then her.

Best Line/Dialogue: AWZ Ep 765; Deniz " there's no other person I love the way I love Roman. And that there's nothing I wanted so badly as to get back with him. Because it feels... it feels perfect. It just feels perfect. Because it feels right." Flippa "You had me at there's "

Worst Best Line/Dialogue: Anything Stella in VL said at the start of the year. It wasn't the dialogue, so much as the delivery.

Most Shocking Moment: Judith's exit. I wasn't expecting it and it was SO POORLY DONE shame on you, VL writers, shame on you. We expect, nay DEMAND, better all round for 2010! And Christian collapsing in the bath- wow he cracked his head hard.

Least Shocking Moment: Christian in EE getting gay-bashed, cos yeah, that's not a boring or predictable dramatic route for a gay character to go down, is it?

Favorite Kiss: AWZ. Roman kissing away Deniz's tears of happiness after red couch reunion sex. So tender, so sweet, and a moment that we don't often see on TV, especially not between two guys.

Most Enjoyable Show: this year? AWZ. But I'm PRAYING for VL (or at least Chrolli) to step up to the plate again in 2010.

Most Disappointing Show: VL. Not only for what they've done, or rather not done, with Chrolli this year, but the fact that they let 2 wonderful actresses leave, hired some ok, some average and some truly dreadful actors/ actresses, but also, the storylines are dull, unrealistic, unrecognisable and frankly it's just not fun or entertaining to watch anymore.



What do you hope for in 2010 for your favorite pairs (no spoilers):

Chrolli- something, dear God ANYTHING. At least, even if Rebecca splits them up I can stop watching. If she doesn't, then I wish for her to piss off and leave them alone. Beyond that, if a wish fairy can grant it please, can we have a scenario where Christian has to fight for Olli, because he's still never had to do that. I would also like to see Olli kick Gregor's arse and make him do some work. Ultimately, I want a meaty SL for them, and I don't care anymore what form it comes it, so long as t involves good acting.

DeRo- more developing and maturing- more of the same please. Thank Christ Tom Croust is there now.

GZSZ- Lenny to accept that he might love a man, before his head explodes, because right now it's unbearable to watch him tie himself up in so much self hatred. If they do get together I want to see them smiling and having fun, and maybe, just maybe, being accept by the gang (as, I assume, they can't go and find an entire new group of friends...)

Amir and Harel- I want Amir to demand a bit more and stop accepting Harel's wandering ways. I want them to sit and talk more. I want Amir to stop being passive aggressive, pull his finger out of his butt, get a job and then come home to lots of hot sex on the pool table with Harel. Yes please. God I miss Ofer Schechter!

Most Shocking Moment: how they killed off Olivia. Wasn't expecting it.

Most Disappointing Show: Hard to pick, ATWT, VL, and Y&R all disappointing me greatly this past year. I'll say VL, cause letting Ollian, which I considered "one of the best" for the longest time fall from grace and be turned into props with no story is all kinds of wrong.

What do you hope for in 2010 for your favorite pairs (no spoilers):

Kish: That they continue to be written well and that OLTL isn't cancelled.

Nuke: That they get a good sendoff and get happiness the last few months of the show.

Ollian: That they actually get a story and worth watching again.

DeRo: They continue to be there awesome selves. LOL

What do you hope for in 2010 for your favorite pairs (no spoilers):

Lenny & Carsten: After all this angst, I'm dying to see their "first" kiss, and make love...

Oliver & Christian: I want them to have a great storyline, they soooooo deserve it, for God's sake!

Kyle & Fish: I want to keep seeing them as a great couple, and that OLTL continues on air...

DeRo: I want them to keep deepening their relationship.

In 2009, AWZ ate my life and I discovered that I can't make my days stretch into more than 48 hours so I simply haven't had time to explore some of the new storylines I wanted to. So my answers are AWZ-centric with a smidgeon of VL thrown in.


Best Storyline: The DeRo reunion, hands down. This will always make me feel like we were there to witness something extraordinary. Not only did the writers pull it off against expectations (and I will repeat until I fall over, writerS writerS writerS because I know first-hand that it wasn't Chroust alone), they did the impossible. They made it everything I truly didn't think them capable of... it was perfectly paced, passionate, tempestuous, fraught with drama and angst, heartbreak and cruelty, and ultimately, tenderness and a new understanding between two characters who've always had something special (not to mention wicked chemistry) but who've finally grown into two people who're actually ready to be together. Just beautiful.

Worst Storyline: The entirely yawnworthy bank plot. And I think the bad Juli/Oliver/Vanessa triangle carried over into this year, so that and the thankless and clumsy way Vanessa was written off the show. She was a fantastic character who was just not given any plot worth shite for the past year and a half at least.

Best Actor: Dennis Grabosch was outstanding, but from a then-and-now comparative perspective, I'm actually going to go with Igor Dolgatschew here - he's always been a talented and promising actor but in 2009, he's reached new heights and delivered some truly award-worthy performances.

Best Actress: Silvia Maleen, who’s acted the hell out of every single scene in Jenny’s disownment plot and subsequent struggles.

Actor or Actress Most In Need Of Acting Lessons: Nadine Rennack. After over a year on the show and several major character changes, I’m still just not feeling her. Everything we’re supposed to believe about Stella’s character still feels like a major case of telling-not-showing, and much as I blame the ham-fisted writing and character development as well, at the end of the day acting choices have something to do with it, too.

Best Supporting Character (including f*g hags): Nina. She’s been funny, heartbreaking and generally a delight to watch.

Worst Supporting Character (including f*g hags): Yup, still Stella.

Best Friendship: Roman and Nina

Worst Friendship: Nothing comes to mind unless I can stretch this to “worst treatment of a formerly great friendship”, in which case I’m sad that Roman and Ingo hardly even interact these days.

Biggest Missed Opportunity: A deeper exploration of Dr. Axel Schwarz’s emotional wasteland. While the Roman/Axel story does work perfectly well as a brief interlude, it would have been interesting to see it progress further, even as a dysfunctional-but-entertaining friendship rather than romance. And after the long build-up that the Axel/Nina pairing has had, its culmination and end felt a bit anti-climactic. I know Nathalie Thiede was leaving so it was necessary to wrap things up but the way it was done felt off-balance and rushed. I would have liked to see them try and work at a relationship for longer than a few episodes.

Also, Bulle’s death and the aftermath were a serious anti-climax considering how well that storyline started out.

Best Chemistry: Deniz and Roman, with Marian and Jenny a close second.

Biggest WTF? Moment: Olivia’s death on VL was appalling. It felt like they were aiming for a Six Feet Under type exit with witty black humour and fell waaaaay short of the mark, leaving them with Tacky Beyond Belief. It was an insult to a character who was way more than the one-dimensional bitch they were trying to make her out to be, and even worse than the poor execution was the way it was announced and promoted… the vibes coming off the spoilers were all over “Olivia will get what she deserves.” WTF? That was some messed-up shit, and not in a good way.

Biggest Waste Of Time (character or storyline): Stella’s diabetes plot (yawn) and Peter Bergmann.

Best Song Moment: Revolverheld’s “Längst verloren” in episodes 766 and 772 sliced my heart to ribbons. And then it was healed with the reuse of “Unzertrennlich.” Brilliant choices.

Worst Song Use: Christina Stürmer’s “Im Kreis” for Lars and Stella’s poor doomed love, broken up by evil Jenny. Ugh. Awesome song, completely out of place for that pairing.

Best Storyline Twist: MALE PAIR-SKATING!!! ;D (including cross-dressing, lol). And Male Function and their convenient small print of contractually obligated snogging.

Worst Storyline Twist: “JENNY FAKED HER OWN ABDUCTION.” Erm, no. Stella’s psycho circus daddy abducted her. I hated how everybody conveniently forgot about that.

Best New Character: Katja Bergmann. Brandnew, adorable, talented and hopefully might infuse some much-needed new energy into the skating team. (Now if only they don’t butcher her with painfully obviously rehashed storylines…)

Worst New Character: Peter Bergmann. Booooring.

Best Line/Dialogue:
Line: Simone Steinkamp’s “It’s ten days of bitching for every two days of bliss with these two.” ;D
Dialogue: Pretty much the entire locker room conversation Deniz and Roman had in episode 805 about Deniz’s reasons for doing the Gay Games. A mature exchange of genuine mutual understanding that was so so lovely to see. And Roman’s concession that his boyfriend was no longer a puppy? GOLD.

Worst Line/Dialogue: Stella trying to pep-talk her boyfriend after he nearly killed someone. WTF?

Most Shocking Moment: In a good way – the couch snuggle/kiss in episode 685 that came out of nowhere. In a creepy/good way – Bulle revealing himself to Roman in the locker room and threatening him… that was actually pretty damn disturbing.

Least Shocking Moment: Mike’s death. I used to dislike him strongly but he grew on me some this year, so I expected more from his dramatic exit. It was kind of blah.

Favourite Kiss: Hard to say, I’m pretty fond of all of them, especially since we got spoilt rotten with Eskimo kisses. The contractually obligated film kiss in ep 763 was pretty damn awesome (“no tongues,” my arse), but for emotional connection, I’d probably go with the Eskimo kiss in the shower scene and/or the giggly noserub/kiss in ep 805 after they’d made up.

Most Enjoyable Show: AWZ has been gold this year.

Most Disappointing Show: Anything I saw of VL this year (which admittedly wasn’t much) looked pretty damn disappointing.


What do you hope for in 2010 for your favourite pairs (no spoilers):

Continued screen time, mostly No boring handholding on the sidelines, please! Continued interesting conflict. Professional success for Roman and a reconnection between him and Jenny. Plots shared with Ben and Katja since they’re both promising. Bring Deniz’s little brother on the show! Awkward and entertaining family dinners with Deniz, Roman, Marian and Jenny! *wants*

And okay, Marian/Jenny aren’t a gay pairing but I seriously hope for some interesting developments there, since lately the show’s just completely dropped the ball on them – which is disappointing since they started out as one of the most intriguing pairings of the year.

Best Chemistry: Really difficult one. I love fer/david, dero and kyle and fish. But just for that adorable bed room scene kyle and fish, it felt very real

Biggest WTF? Moment: Rebecca kissing ollie, christian kissing miriam.

VL: Chrolli getting rid of Rebecca and finally having a storyline for themself or Chribecca happening so I can stop watching this treinwreck
AWZ: DeRo keep being so good and have a lot of scenes with Dr. Schwarz
GZSZ: Lenny start assuming xanax and begging Carsten to be with him
OLTL: Kish keep being so good and maybe for Kyle start scheming a little again
EE: Syed to professing his love for Christian in front of everyone on Albert Square
GTST: for Lucas to finally have a love interest

Best Storyline: DeRo 2.0. Did they really pull it off? If you'd asked just a year ago if it would have been possible to do this in a credible way, one that didn't require a complete makeover of their characters, I would not have believed you. Somehow, they managed to not only do this, but they had unpredictable twists and turns at every step, shifting loyalties (was I really rooting for Deniz by the end? ), and attention to so many details that assured me that they remembered the past and weren't going to leapfrog over anything, but were really together for the long haul.

Worst Storyline: Deniz making cow eyes at Stella. Running away to join the circus? Really? The writers got into the bad crack that week. At least out of it came Deniz turn to pairskating, so in the end it was worth it, but boy was it painful to sit through at the time.

Best Actor: Don't make me choose! I know I said Dennis Grabosch last year, and he's still up there especially after these stellar performances surrounding his retirement, but... sorry, I have to give it to Igor Dolgatschew this time, because you could see that he CARED about this storyline and threw himself into it so intently that, like I said, he won me over. I never would have imagined that I'd say Roman should go easier on Deniz, but by the time we neared the end of that plot, Igor turned the whole world upside down.

Best Actress: Silvia Maleen. It's a damn hard job to step into another actress' shoes, and most fail at it. Silvia, tho, not only got into Jennifer Steinkamp's scheming head, but she took it a step further -- she gave her layers of complexity that the former actress never managed. Jenny is still the ultimate schemer, and for that I love her. But Silvia gave us reasons to believe the obsessive desperation behind her schemes, and made a character I never cared for one of my very favourites.

Actor or Actress Most In Need Of Acting Lessons: Nadine Rennack (Stella Coretti), who has mastered the non-reactive expression. Seriously, anybody who thinks VL's Rebecca is bad need only watch ep 746 (www.youtube.com/watch?v=088W-4T2XcE) from 1:25-3:25 to see what it looks when you cast a blank wall in a leading role.

Best Supporting Character (including f*g hags): Although she's hardly a supporting character in the overall series, Simone Steinkamp's role in the whole Male Function plot was solid gold. And her wonderful "ten days of bitching for two days of bliss" has been adopted as my LJ title.

Worst Supporting Character (including f*g hags): Stella Coretti.

Best Friendship: Nina and Roman. I wouldn't have expected this relationship to work, since these two are as opposite as oil and water, but it did. Nina's insights were exactly what Roman needed to face what was happening with Deniz; Roman's snark cut through her romanticism to see what she needed. They worked so well together and I MISS HER SO MUCH.

Worst Friendship: I was going to say Deniz and Stella, but I can extend that to Stella and just about anybody. She's gone around spreading her meaningless platitudes to just about everybody in the cast, and for some reason they listen to her as if she's a wise sage. Bah.

Biggest Missed Opportunity: I am always going to be sad that Roman retired without ever winning the gold. And yes, I understand that it had to be this way -- that he had to come to terms with the fact that there were more important things, things he could not afford to lose. Still. Going out with one victory under his belt would not have been that unrealistic, I don't think (certainly no harder to believe than the fact that Stella's got talent), and would have been a nice finale. (And it could just be that I'm disappointed with the recent payoff. The build-up with the doping was so nicely played, and then the climax was rushed and lacked the impact needed for such a huge story -- so different than what we got with DeRo 2.0, where the pacing was perfect.)

Best Chemistry: Igor and Dennis, hands down. Even in those moments I just mentioned, where the storyline was rushed, these two made you believe that they were perfectly in synch. A close second goes to Sam and Silvia (Marian and Jenny), who spark like nobody's business.

Biggest WTF? Moment: The biggest in AWZ was everyone saying that Jenny faked her own abduction. I hate when Show adopts their own revisionist history. But to branch out a little bit, I'll have to say Olivia's death in VL. Was that supposed to be funny? So much fail.

Biggest Waste Of Time (character or storyline): Celine and any storyline she's ever touched. Although it's nice to have some naptime built into each episode.

Best Song Moment: Oh, so many of late, I have added so much to my playlist. But the reuse of "Unzertrennlich" in 772 is the one that stopped my heart.

Worst Song Use: "Gangsta's Paradise" as the song that speaks to Stella Coretti's circus-bred soul. Right.

Best Storyline Twist: Pair skating. Oh yeah, we've joked about it since Marian suggested it in episode 300, but did we ever expect it would actually happen? Or that it'd be Richard's idea? *boggles*

Worst Storyline Twist: Bulle's murder. This started out so well (he's a total DeRo enabler), but then went south, leaving behind so many loose ends. Bulle was such a wonderfully evil character and I hate that they sacrificed him needlessly -- and for what? To turn what started out as total DeRo into Mike/Lena bonding crap? Please. And still, nobody's ever cared that Roman was assaulted by a giant?

Best New Character: Freckles, er, I mean Katja -- she's brand new, but seems to have some real talent and I'm looking forward to where she's going.

Worst New Character: The entire Coretti family, but especially Stella. Go back to the circus, please.

Best Line/Dialogue: I love Deniz's "I'm just a puppy so I'd close my eyes and try to imagine how everything would magically resolve itself" realisation, followed ever so closely by Roman's admission that "Maybe it's time for me to finally realise that the Puppy is no longer a puppy at all." The growth of these characters, of this relationship, is just astounding.

Worst Best Line/Dialogue: Lars saying, "Jenny tried to turn me into an alcoholic." Sorry, Schatz, you were getting there just fine on your own.

Most Shocking Moment: Lars trying to drown Jenny. This was scarily realistic, and the aftermath -- Stella racing off to see if her poor boyfriend was okay after his attempted murder, leaving Jenny shivering by the side of the pool -- is still so disturbing.

Least Shocking Moment: I'd have to say Mike's death.

Favorite Kiss: Deniz and puppy in ep715!!

Most Enjoyable Show: Alles Was Zählt, of course!

Most Disappointing Show: Verbotene Liebe. I've pretty much given up watching these days other than to groan at how it's going nowhere.

What do you hope for in 2010 for your favorite pairs (no spoilers): I want Deniz and Roman to keep on going at the same level of drama and passion -- I was so worried after the reunion that they would resort to couch cuddling, but they've proved me wrong so far. I'd love to see them develop friendships with others -- there's still a big Nina-sized hole in Casa WildTurkey, and Stella is not filling it. I want to see them continue to bring in kink in a normal, non-sledgehammery way. I want a TALK about Deniz's sexuality. I want an awkward family dinner with Marian and Jenny, where Roman calls Jenny "mom." I want family members to show up -- Roman's lesbian cousin with her moving van and Deniz's baby brother with his backpack -- and I want interactions between all of them. Most of all for Show, I want more ensemble interactions -- that's when AWZ is at its very best.

Why the hell would you introduce a serious health issue for a beloved character and then only use it for a couple weeks?? I was expecting months of fallout and storyline. Their "storyline" may suck donkey balls, but those two actors still have golden chemistry in my humble opinion.

After a year, VL breaks out Christian and Olli's famous "Brokeback" music and then proceeds to use it anytime Christian has a scene with any old thing. Stella, Rebecca, and Elias the Horse! Seriously, show???

Best Storyline Twist: Dex was molested. (GTBT Dutch version)

Finding out why Dex is such a raving homophobe was very moving. And I loved that it wasn't the usual "well, because he's gay himself."

Lukas & ? (GTBT Dutch) : I want them to pair Lukas up with somebody. Whether it's Noud, Dex, or even Jack (his mother's boyfriend), I know I'll enjoy it!

Oliver & Kyle (OLTL) : Keep bringing the love and the caring and I'm happy.

Aaron (Emmerdale) : Am very interested to see where this will go. Will Aaron accept his homosexuality? Will he get in a relationship? If so, with who?

Lenny & Carsten (GTBT German) : For God's sake, just F^%k already! ;D

Best Song Moment: Revolverheld "Unzertrennlich" on AWZ. It made me squeal.

Worst Song Use: Anything on that Ninos Ricos show.

Best Storyline Twist: Not really related to the gays, but Jenny going good and falling in love with Marian on AWZ. It was brilliant. But if you want gays, I think it was the fact that Simone's snide comments finally got Deniz and Roman back together. Because Simone is usually plotting ways she can ruin everyone else's lives to improve her own.

Worst Storyline Twist: Kevin and Scotty having a baby on B&S. Not because I don't want them to have a baby, but because it's been making them fight over stupid things. And I'm not sure why they're so intent on surrogacy over adoption, since choosing the surrogate seems to be causing most of their problems.

Best New Character: Kurt Hummel on Glee. I adore that kid. Although I'm also quite fond of David on FOQ.

Worst New Character: Mason on ATWT.

Best Line/Dialogue: Nina trying to give Roman relationship advice based on movies, AWZ.

Worst Best Line/Dialogue: Most of Luke and Noah's fights on ATWT.

Most Shocking Moment: Roman and Axel kissing in the elevator on AWZ

Least Shocking Moment: Kyle not going through with marrying Nick on OLTL. We all knew he was going to go back to Oliver. But despite the predictability, I thought it was very well done.

Favorite Kiss: Fer and David on the bed, FOQ. I just wish it lasted longer!

Most Enjoyable Show: AWZ. They've really been on their game this year.

Most Disappointing Show: VL. Not because it was the worst, but because it went the most downhill.



What do you hope for in 2010 for your favorite pairs (no spoilers):
Christian and Olli: need to get an interesting, ongoing storyline that does not revolve around Rebecca's kleptomania. Also, can they just get married already? Show keeps tossing around hints and then doing nothing about it. The boys need to at least discuss the possibility.

Deniz and Roman: continue to develop their relationship in a mature way, but still have their fantastically soapy lovers' tiffs. Also, I hope that Roman finds a new profession that he loves.

Fer and David: sort out the infidelity issues and have an onscreen sex scene like everyone else on that show.

Kyle and Oliver: keep being cute, sort out Oliver's paranoia issues

Kevin and Scotty: start acting more like they did when they were dating. I liked them better as a couple before they were married. Now they've gone boring.

Lucas on GTST: I would love for him to hook up with Noud. Dex would be okay too, but I feel like at this point that would just be perpetuating the idea that gays can "convert" children by molesting them.

Kurt on Glee: needs to get a crush on someone other than Finn. Also, Show needs to show me more of his friendship with Mercedes, because those two are brilliant onscreen together.

Also, I'm really looking forward to the return of "Raw" with Geoff and Pavel, and I hope that they stay together and have lots of drama!

Wow - what a year - old faithfuls have dissappointed but newcomers have roared into life

I have found it particularly hard this year (my apologies when I can't just give one answer). Interestingly my shows from last year hardly feature this year!


Best Storyline:
A difficult choice but have eventually settled on Lenny & Carsten over Kish. It has a much more punchier edge to it >>>pun intended<<<

I fully expect Emmerdale to take this spot next year!

Worst Storyline:
Anything ATWT has done this last eight months - utterly dismal

Best Actor:
DANNY MILLER!!!!!! - Emmerdale
Sorry - but I just had to shout that - he's incredible

Best Actress:
Jenny from DeRo - (don't know her RL name) - the scene where she freaked at Stella in the locker-room was just *wow*

Actor or Actress Most In Need Of Acting Lessons:
This one was hard as I decided to rule out Jasmine Lord since I'm not really watching VL anymore. After a lot of thought (and rather surprisingly) I have to go for Jake Silbermann
He has no range and sadly I think will struggle once ATWT ends.

Best Supporting Character (including f*g hags):
Paddy Kirk (Emmerdale) - there's just no contest with this one. He's the first person that ever saw Aaron as someone more than just a fucked up kid, and the friendship that has emerged between these two is great to watch.
However, I do nod my head in Lucy's direction (GZSZ). Just loved the way she stepped up to help Carsten when he really needed someone. >>>blows in her direction<<<

Worst Supporting Character (including f*g hags):
This was a difficult one (again JL VL ruled out).
Have eventually gone for Stella (DeRo) - mainly cos she bores the tits off me

Best Friendship:
Roxy / Kyle (OLTL) - really don't know what Kyle would've done without her

Lenny and "The gang" (GZSZ)

Biggest Missed Opportunity:

Worst New Character:
Nick (OLTL) - I've tried (I really have) to like him, but it's just not happening.

Best Line/Dialogue:
"Look at me telly!" - Paddy (Emmerdale) - in fact I could recite a dozen more things from Paddy - God I just love him

Best Storyline: That's a tough one. As much as I enjoyed the pace of OLTL I have to go with DeRo 2.0 That was just brilliantly done!

Worst Storyline: Anything Rebecca related in VL

Best Actor: Brett Claywell (Kyle, OLTL) (mostly becos the VL guys didn't really get any material to act on)

Best Actress: Another tough one. Olivia (VL) didn't had many great scenes this year. So it's a neck-and-neck race between the actresses who play Roxy (OLTL) and Simone (AWZ)

Best Supporting Character (including f*g hags): Roxy and/or Cris (both OLTL) Nope, can't decide

Biggest Missed Opportunity: So many to choose from *siiigh* But the biggest for me was the sickness of Christian as well. Just has to be. All that great drama, that VL could have given us... It's just sad.

Biggest WTF? Moment: Olivia's "funny" death, and noone noticing

Biggest Waste Of Time (character or storyline): again Rebecca. Just a pointless character. Be done with her already!

Best Song Moment: Unzertrennlich by Revolverheld (AWZ)! That was just so thoughtful and such a huge thank you/shout out to the fans who have sticked to this storyline. Amazing. Kudos to Show!

Edit: As it was still in 2009 I have to change my answer. It's a tie between the aforementioned scene and "My Confession" on OLTL. That love scene between Oliver and Kyle was just amazing (loving, tender, funny, gentle, raw, emotional) and makes me tear up everytime I rewatch

Worst Song Use: There were a few cringeworthy choices

Best Storyline Twist: Oh which one will it be Oliver's outing wins At a mass gay wedding, live on national TV But very rewarding for him ;D

Therefore, I must put VL. Despite Rebecca, I enjoy nearly the whole show on a regular basis.

Most Disappointing Show: As much as I love it, VL. But what else can you expect with as many changes as they've had with the writing team this year. And the horrors that arise from the costume department!



What do you hope for in 2010 for your favorite pairs (no spoilers):
VL - A new headwriter who spends less time playing favorites, honors characters or changes them SLOWLY, and balances GOOD soap storytelling equally among all of their actors (with a slight bias towards Olli & Christian).

OLTL - Keep up the good work with Kyle, Fish & Nick & Amelia & Dorian. (show the boys in BED! Under the covers!)

Emmerdale - From what I saw of the previews, tell an interesting and NEW story!

ATWT - Grow some balls and go out giving the finger to all the conservative groups who make CBS "consult" with the producers any time Nuke touch. Show the boys in bed, show em naked, let's see Luke stick his hand down the front of Noah's pants and play with him. What can they do? Cancel the show again?

Generally, world peace.

Better written and interesting gay & lesbian characters around the world who are seamlessly woven into the fabic of the shows they inhabit!

Hold on to your hats, ladies and gentlemen. I'm gonna get long-winded here.

Best Storyline: Without a doubt, DeRo 2.0. An amazing job done by all involved - writers, directors, actors, crew. How they took a pairing that had been damaged beyond belief, ripped apart in the most painful of ways, and created a reunion that WORKED still astonishes me. It was done with thoughtfulness, a true understanding of the characters and their history (both together and apart), and enough time to make it seem not just possible but inevitable. It could have been so teeth-grindingly bad in any number of ways. That it was this powerful, this true, this right - I'm in awe.

Worst Storyline: The whole Noah adoption thing. Not just that it made it look like adopting an unconscious adult in a matter of hours is even possible. Not just that they seemed to believe that putting Noah under their health insurance would be fine! The insurance company would never deny claims because of strange circumstances! But the idea of Luke and Noah being technically brothers - gah. Squicks me out.

Best Actor: Argh! You're making me choose? Dennis Grabosch is, without a doubt, one of the finest actors I've ever seen. In any other year he'd be top of the list, easy. But how the hell Igor Dolgatschew made me root for Deniz, I'll never know. He's always been a great actor, but this year, in this storyline, he truly brought his "A" game. He took a character that had been pretty much unlikeable recently (rentboy! pouty teen! shallow! in insta-love with Stella!) and gave him depth, insight, and a maturity that showed Deniz finally deserved Roman. Bravo.

Best Actress: Silvia Maleen took a character who had been pretty much a one-note wonder ("my evil friend Jenny") and gave her so many layers, you couldn't help but root for her. And her relationship with Marian - rowr!

Actor or Actress Most In Need Of Acting Lessons: She-of-the-one-and-a-half-facial-expressions, the woman who plays Stella on AWZ.

Best Supporting Character (including f*g hags): Cris on OLTL. A het male who gave Oliver his support and friendship throughout the painful coming out storyline. So secure in his own sexuality! So matter-of-fact about Oliver being gay! So willing to paint with his shirt off! Oh, wait. Never mind.

Worst Supporting Character (including f*g hags): Sorry, gotta channel my inner Stanley Kowalski and say, STELLLAAAA!

Best Friendship: A tie between Roman and Nina (miss that girl!) and Oliver and Cris (with a little Layla thrown in for good measure).

Worst Friendship: Stella and pretty much anyone she interacts with.

Biggest Missed Opportunity: The conclusion to the doping storyline on AWZ. Everything else connected to DeRo since this summer has been so pitch-perfect, the rapid-fire ending (I can't even call it a conclusion) to this story felt even more jarring. There was a lot more play left in it, IMHO, and it just felt like they decided they were bored with it so drop it and move on. Too bad, because it was so much better than I'd expected it to be until that point.

Best Chemistry: Deniz and Roman. Hands down.

Biggest WTF? Moment: Tough one. Is it Dorian Lord marrying her (female) campaign manager in order to get elected? (Much as I'd love it to be the case, I just don't see the gay and lesbian voting bloc being that pivotal in an election. Not yet, at least. And I hated seeing gay marriage reduced to a campaign stunt. The storyline, I thought, would have been stronger if the central characters getting married in the group ceremony actually, you know, loved each other.)

It could also be the reaction of other characters to Jenny's almost-drowning at the hands of Lars. Seriously? "She tried to give me alcohol" is a VALID EXCUSE FOR ALMOST MURDERING SOMEONE? Sorry you almost drowned, babe, but you really did bring it on yourself. Gah.

Biggest Waste Of Time (character or storyline): I know, you think I'm going to say Stella, aren't you? Well, I'm not. Because the storyline that was a total waste of time and energy, in my mind, was the Love Triangle That Wasn't, on ATWT. After all the hoopla about Mason joining the show, the PTB just weaseled out of it and trashed the whole thing. I had high hopes that Nuke would finally get a meaty, sexy, ADULT storyline, but no.

Best Song Moment: AWZ's music department is my crack, so I could nominate any number of songs for this category. But when Roman turned around, hand on his heart, after hearing Deniz had quit his job over his feelings for Roman, and Unzertrennlich started playing, I burst into tears. And then started CAPSLOCK FLAILING all over Twitter about it. The perfect song for the perfect moment.

Worst Song Use: I don't have a lot of music dislikes this year, as my iTunes account can attest. But Gangsta's Paradise as Stella's fresh new pair skating idea made me go, WTF?

Best Storyline Twist: Pair Skating For Men! A throwaway comment four hundred episodes earlier turns into a surprisingly fabulous storyline. It could have been cracky and played for laughs, but it eventually became something beautiful, affecting, and very real. I secretly hope that someone actually uses DeRo's final routine in the Gay Games, because that choreography is just gorgeous. Sigh.

Worst Storyline Twist: Ianto's death on Torchwood. Not a soap, I know, but I'm so damned bitter over it still I can't help but mention it.

Best New Character(s): Love, love, love Oliver and Kyle.

Worst New Character: Little Miss Mary Sue herself, Stella.

Best Line/Dialogue: So many on AWZ this year, I can't decide! Loved when Roman explained afterglow to Deniz, and all he could do in response was stroke Roman's hair gently. Heartbreaking for both of them. And Deniz blurting out his feelings for Roman at the party but being unwilling to do it for the microphone (and I'll go to my grave insisting he really did mean it, no matter how much backpedaling he did the next day). But Simone's comment "ten days of bitching for every two days of bliss" is a classic as well.

Worst Line/Dialogue: Any time Stella pushes her 'sage advice' on anyone. Oh, and when Deniz did the whole info-dump about Vanessa studying medicine as an undergrad in Boston. Vanessa deserved a better storyline and sendoff than she got, and that bit of dialogue was a bitter reminder.

Most Shocking Moment: First is Lars almost drowning Jenny on AWZ. It was brutal. Second is Nick's gaybashing assault on OLTL, which was also very violent - made more so by being juxtaposed with Oliver and Kyle's sweet, sensual makeout scene. I had a hard time with that one. (Especially since one of the bashers was Joe from Blue's Clues.)

Least Shocking Moment: Lars ending up with Stella. Show had pushed this OTP so blatantly, so obviously, that by the time it happened I was pretty much resigned to it.

Favorite Kiss: Any time DeRo kiss it's magic. But the camera-kiss (no tongues!) is especially sigh-worthy.

Most Enjoyable Show: AWZ. They won me over again this year, and I was pretty resistant there for a while.

Most Disappointing Show: ATWT. Sometimes I wonder if they'd rather Nuke wasn't even there to deal with. Let the poor guys have a real, honest, grown-up relationship! Or at the very least, a non-eye-rolling storyline. There's only ten months left, guys. Please, PLEASE make the most of it.



What do you hope for in 2010 for your favorite pairs (no spoilers):

I want DeRo to keep rocking the angsty, soapy storylines, especially new ones that don't cover tired ground (I *really* don't want to deal with infidelity again. Been there, done that). More interactions with other characters, see them as part of their larger circle of friends (ie, beyond Lars and Stella).

I want Kyle and Oliver to keep pushing the boundaries on a US soap. Damn, that bedroom scene was hot! Moar, pls!

I want Noah and Luke to have a juicy, grown-up storyline, with an actual physical and emotional relationship to boot, so they can have the sendoff they deserve as ATWT leaves the air in the fall.

I want Fer and David to get past the infidelity issue because they really are a cute couple.

I want Ollian to get a great storyline so I can be tempted into watching again.

And I want Lenny to take a chill pill and get over himself, because Carsten deserves someone who treats him well and *wants* to be with him.

Best Storyline Twist: Roman falling over Stella at the ice rink, that's the beginning of everything (thank you Roman! ). Plus... Stella got hurt

Worst Storyline Twist: Stella's cheating with the insulin thing. Jenny beats her on the ice, then she qualifies for the German championship only because she's been lucky and she's even proud of it...

Best New Character: Katja Bergmann, she seems nice.

Best Line/Dialogue: DeRo's "puppy" speech in the locker room. Simone's "2 days of happiness and 10 days of bitching".
