I would quite like to see this frisky banter between them continue for a little while longer, hopefully until Mack breaks down some of Aaron's grumpy resistance and they bond together a bit. I think with a bit of adventurous writing they would make good sparring partners, constantly bickering like an old married couple and playing games of one-upmanship with each other.
I don't really see any big romance or anything like that; more that there will be potential for some comedy moments that will push them together, possibly leading up to a slow burn attraction later on.

One of the huge issues I see with a "relationship" between Aaron and Mack is Aaron's relationship with Cain. Cain can't stand Mack, and he will make his feelings known to both Aaron and especially Mack. Also, Cain will probably think Mack is "interested" in Aaron to either get back in good with Moira or to find a way to hurt him by using Aaron, which is something Cain will not allow.

Well, it could've been worse - they might've made Mackenzie directly responsible for the accident instead of just indirectly. I really wish the show won't keep making these characters too dark and then try to bring them back from the brink.

Oh I agree, but I think most soaps are guilty of doing that now. It's not just Emmerdale.
I hate it when they make a character totally irredeemable but then expect us just to forgive them as soon as they have a scene in which they cry, repent and say sorry. The characters might respond "Oh it's all in the past now, let's just move on," but in reality I can't. Sometimes a character gets tainted beyond repair for me and I just can't ever like them again no matter how saintly they are written to become afterwards.
