I find Rachel to be annoying, but whatever. There is not a single character that is below eighteen that I don't want to slap on that show. Even Kurt gets on my nerves a lot of the time.
I thought that his reaction to his dad was really sweet, though. Rachel deserved it, but Kurt was the one I was still rooting for. It was so nice of him to do that for his dad. D':
YES, THE WHEELCHAIRS. That was great. For a few minutes, I forgot that I was watching a comedy until Artie talked to the stuttery girl. Then I remembered. xD

What a GREAT episode this week! I actually cried...like real tears over Sue and her sister / Curt and his dad. Just great.

Rachel was definitely the better singer in that competition. I think it would have been interesting to hear them sing "What is this Feeling", with Kurt singing the Galinda part.
Don't know if this was mentioned in another thread, but apparently disability groups were unhappy with this ep because one of the few disabled characters on network TV is played by a non-disabled actor. Discuss.
(I'm agnostic on the issue, but I will point out that you will find gay groups, or racial minority groups, who complain when straight/ white actors play gay/non-white roles, so, valid or invalid, there is precedent for minority groups making this complaint.)
ETA: If and when they do a Wicked film, the girl who plays Rachel would be an AWESOME Elpheba (assuming that's her real voice.) Sorry, but Idina and the divine Ms. C are simply too old to play high school kids in a film that would require lots of close-up shots.)

Oh, B-chick, someone made this point on another site, and I thought of you.
Someone was arguing about how they preferred Kurt's performance, even if Rachel was the better singer, because the song meant something personal to him, and Rachel was just singing it to be the best.
Then someone else pointed out that the song is about someone who decides to stop worrying about the fact that she's unpopular, and becomes determined to embrace her ambition and become the best she can be regardless of what anyone else thinks. And viewed that way, Defying Gravity should really be Rachel's personal leitmotif.
Certainly, even though the show failed to capture that, it makes more sense than claiming that CC's weepy performance in any way captures the essence of the angry, aggressive, defiant song they were singing.

I heard that a Wicked film is in the works, and you're right, she'd be perfect for that role. The newest ep of Glee was WOW! I enjoyed the entire thing. The 'Endless Love' duet was hilarious! ;D

Yes, it was. ;D I already heard the songs before I saw the episode and I must say I was totally surprised by how they were used. (In which setting I mean.) Loved it very much... And 'Lean on me' is now one of my favorite songs on the show. Loved it from the first time I heard it.

HAIROGRAPHY was a mess. I thought some of it was funny like the bad hair routine by the glee club with the guys in the wigs & Santana's AWESOME smackdown of Quinn but so much was irritating. I still hate Quinn, Kurt and Puck were extra NASTY selfish jackasses, Finn is still not growing intellectually though I am not annoyed as much as I am disappointed by his non-growth. And I can't stand Dianna Agron singing, and was appalled when she got the long solo and especially that it was Papa Don't Preach sung to a bunch of kids under 11 years old. And I am also beyond tired of Rachel as the club's punching bag where people feel entitled to be unnecessarily cruel to her. I also found the Imagine scene both hackneyed and condescending. And the Bootylicious, while sung well, was totally "video vixen lite" trash. *sigh*. I hope next week is better. It wasn't horrible but I just felt let down by the episode. I did like True Colors okay and the simplicity of the routine.

Bonobochick, the last few eps have COMPLETELY brought me around to your side re: Rachel.
At least when she wants something, she goes after it openly and honestly. I can't see her pretending to befriend someone so that she can give them bad advice to sabotage them, as Kurt does here. The closest I can think of Rachel coming is reporting Sandy. And there, it's not like she was making up an accusation. Sandy SHOULD have been reported.
Also, as headstrong as she can be, when she gives brutally honest advice to someone (Quinn and Puck come to mind), she always does it with a tone and body language showing genuine concern, and she does it in a way that comes across as good advice, and the people actually seem able to see it as sincere concern (both Quinn and Puck seemed to take it to heart and not get angry.)
But people regularly make bitchy comments about how unlikable Rachel is just to slash at her. Kurt's done it at least twice (this ep and the "Defying Gravity" ep), and Artie at least once ( the wheelchair ep.)
And in the scene in which Kurt points out that they're actually in the same situation, the long-term joke is actually on him, since we've seen evidence that Finn does actually like Rachel, and they're quite clearly the show's ship of choice.

Watching the Norwegian premiere of Glee now. It has gotten some great reviews, it got 5 out of 6 in a newspaper.
I love this show! I'll definitely buy the dvd set when it comes out.

Well, I'm glad there wasn't a lot of blame aimed at Rachel for driving Finn off the team, which I was expecting. But still, I wanted some kind of emotional comeuppance for the entire team knowing the truth and conspiring to keep Finn trapped in the lie. At the very least, some acknowledgement of how selfish it was, even if it was just them feeling guilty without Finn ever finding out that they did it.

True, they brought it to our intentions that everyone knew, but they never really explored it or it's ramifications. That might garner a shot in the recap on AE.

Such a cool last episode and I loved the ending, the kiss was so adorable. I thought Rachel sung her solo balad amazingly and replayed it a few times, Lea really is a great singer. I can't believe Glee is now a four month hiatas, it sucks big time. Think I might and go watch the eppy again. What are the bets that fin and Rachel get together in the second half of the series. xx

That would have been great but that also would have been character development, which is something this show shies away from most of the time. Also, at this point, Kurt is as one-note as Mercedes. And I still find Quinn blah and her singing worse.

It really does suck that they will be gone on a 4-month hiatus.. but with Glee coming back in April I hope that they don't lose any of their fan-base.. ;D I'm a Gleek!!! ;D

I always download the GLEE episodes, but I'm still very happy that the Dutch channel RTL5 is going to air GLEE. Now I can watch the show on TV. This news was announced today.

I didn't hear anything about that, so thanks! It makes is a little more easier to really enjoy the show, when it's subtitled in Dutch:-p Although I really enjoy it now also..

I caught up with my Glee viewing last night and watched the Home episode. I particularly enjoyed "A House is not a Home" and Sue Sylvester being stumped by that journalist's appraisal of the inclusive nature of Mercedes and the Cheerios performance. Will she learn from this, of course not. I enjoyed this episode so much more than the Madonna one (except of course for Sue Sylveter's Vogue), am I the only queer who doesn't get Madonna?
