okay, i am totes confused about this storyline progression. I just watched parts 16 and 17 and christian's like, upset about the beating but he goes to the bar, he goes to work, he goes to the police station, he goes HOME WITH SYED , whatevs. then all of a sudden here in part 18 he's become a hermit and he's all scared to go outside?? when did that happen? what happened with syed? wtf? also. holy mother of...christian looks really REALLY good with that scruff of beard. He needs to keep that going! I think he looks much more attractive kinda scruffy than he does clean cut.

I think I remember reading somewhere that after Christian reported the guy (the day they went to the police), POSSIBLE SPOILER the police caught him but then for some reason he was out again (on bail maybe). END OF POSSIBLE SPOILER
Syed did go home with Christian in episode 17 and then at the end of episode 18 (Monday, yesterday) Syed agreed to come over again to see Christian.
We don't actually get to see Syed go home with Christian after the police station so maybe that's what makes it feel disjointed.
I think about a week has passed between 17 and 18 but I'm not sure.
Christian and Syed weren't on for a whole week (in real time)
I scanned the full episodes and I didn't see anything missing.

Just watched it. I love today's episode! They really have chemistry these two. You can see that deep down Syed loves Christian.
Quote of the day: "I think you're superman." ;D

it's funny because I'm from outside the UK myself (Belgium). But we get to have lots of television channels from UK and Germany as well, so I can watch it in real time. Anyway, about today's episode, Syed clearly shows he cares for Christian and it's more than friendship. He allows himself to be intimate again with Christian. Actually, it's he that makes an astonishing proposal to Christian. He offers to spend the whole night with Christian... And about that superman-quote: it was the most endearing and affectionate quote from Syed I have heard so far. It may sound silly when you read it now, but when he says it, he really means to say that for him Christian really is "his" superman.

It did feel very disjointed when I've watched part 17. It's like how come Christian developed a phobia of going out in the public. I really dislike how the writers are treating this pair. They are doing quite a lousy job at it sans the dialogue. I think the dialogue is really good but the way they handle the scenes, it's very bad. I know they do not want to show intimacy, but at least try to show why Christian becomes like that.

The face touching and "superman" comment were so sweet. We just need to see some real passion between them, which I doubt that they will show.

I can see Earth falling into pieces if they kissed on BBC1 in prime time It was "edgy" in the last century, they should not be afraid to get a few complaints and give them a finger. The attitudes will never change if they treat it as something that's better not be shown.

Sorry, I can't get into Chryed 'cause it's playing too safe for my liking. The BBC are trying(!) not to offend the Muslim/right-wing communities, which it shouldn't be about

It did feel very disjointed when I've watched part 17. It's like how come Christian developed a phobia of going out in the public. This is only my interpretation but I think the process of making the complaint, actually filing charges against the guy was very traumatic for Christian because it made it a big deal, something real and he had to acknowledge how actually horrible it was rather than push it aside as no big deal. It might have helped to see him talk to the police but I'm getting used to so much of his stuff happening off screen as that seems to be the way they deal with having a gay character. Christian is a big guy and he's not a push over and he obviously could hold his own in a fair fight and he's usually fearless and very courageous from what I've seen of him (which is what I think Syed meant by calling him Superman) and some part of him has to be like "WTF??? how could I let this happen to me." I think getting beaten up in his own home and left unconscious and alone had an effect on Christian beyond just the beating. It was like a shock to his system. He even said it, that he had just kind of forgot about how violent folks can be towards gays (not that he doesn't know but when you aren't "living" it every day, you can become complacent so to speak). I always say overt demonstrations of homphobia are like childbirth. On some level you have to train yourself not to think about how horrible it can be in order to love yourself as a gay person or ever want to have a child again. It's like all of a sudden Christian remembered that he's vulnerable. Physically, emotionally, he's let himself be vulnerable and it has cost him his sense of self. He's vulnerable because of who he is, vulnerable because of how he lives his life and vulnerable because of the choices he's made. Doesn't mean he deserves any of the horrible things that are happening to him. Syed was already giving his heart a good and sound beating every day and then psycho dude just manifests that beating physically and it was too much all at once and I think the trauma of both things is what Christian is mad about and it's turned into fear. I'm interpreting from the dialogue obviously and we all see things differently but I think Christian is just feeling "beat down" by life and that has translated into anxiety and trauma about being vulnerable. Personally I think Syed poses a much bigger "threat" to Christian's heart than any violent homophobe does to his body because homophobic attacks come rarely and the physical pain, scars and bruising will fade. The beat down Syed is putting on Christian's heart is going to last for a long time.

wait a sec... ramadan Syed mentioned something about abstinence and fasting.... and then at the end of the episode Syed said Ramadan will almost be over.... and I don't think he was referring to food. Does this mean that Syed will sleep with Christian again? *fingers crossed* And OMG the reaction of Syed when he picked up that phone = priceless

i do feel bad for Christian...because adorable as they are...Syed has no intention of being serious with him...i understand he cares about Christian and wants to make him better but using sex and love as a bribery...i dint find it as romantic...i dont know...i love them...togheter...i just wish the circumstances were different..

I don't say it very often but I too think Syed is very beautiful. Handsome and beautiful. He's the kind of person you keep looking at; no matter what he says or does. I loved the proud look Syed gave Christian. Even though the actors aren't allowed to show a lot of physical intimacy, they do a very good job with getting the message across with words and looks. (IMO) (Although of course I join the club when it comes to wishing EE would get over the fear and started showing more. )
