Happy New Year 2011 everyone! To start this new year, the news that Sergio Mur is leaving the show. On his official professional page on Facebook www.facebook.com/pages/Sergio-Mur/187478537177this was posted earlier today: "my time in FoQ is over, I'm leaving with a feeling of tenderness for "Jorge", it was a genuine battle, in all meanings of the word, to try and give him the highest possible reality I was able to. And I am very pleased with the result." (the phrasing is a bit funny, particularly the word "entidad", unless it's a typo for "identidad" in which case it really sounds like the actor wasn't exactly pleased with his character going all hetero in Season 6) Unless there is a major surprise, this seems to mean Jorge is being written out and will not appear at all in Season 7, not even in the opening episode, to get some kind of farewell scene. I think it must be frustrating for an actor have to deal with this sudden changes on the script. One thing is that you are in a soap and suddenly the writers decide that you are gay out of the blue, as an actor i doubt i like that, because you are building a character from the begining and suddenly you must change everything (and if you are in an american soap, you know that after the splash you will become very popular and your character screen time will be very low if you are lucky). But this is not a soap, Sergio was hired to play a gay character who was interested in a student, and suddenly they change everything to not tell anything interested (i like Veronica, but she is the kiss of death for her male partners)

We should keep this to the Spoilers Discussion thread or the Moderators will be unhappy.

Shooting for Season 7 is scheduled to start at the end of this month, but still no certain news as to new castings. Maybe that's not surprising. There is however one further departure that seems now confirmed. It's been announced that Cristina Alcázar (Marina) would star in an upcoming Antena 3 sitcom, "Los quien", that will focus on the story of the first divorced couple in Spain, in 1981. The show will be taped in front of a live audience and it comes from Nacho G. Velilla who is credited for Telecinco's big hit show, Aída (a daily soap which has a very popular young gay character, Fidel, played by Eduardo Casanova, but, er..., VERY different from Fer or David), Recently, Velilla has also produced and directed a popular gay-themed comedy, Fuera de carta, aka Chef's Special. It's not clear to me yet if "Los quien" will be a weekly or daily show and when exactly it will start airing, but it looks like it will be difficult for the actress to star in both shows. Marina might however appear at the beginning of the next season of FoQ and then be written out or killed off. The fact that she switches to another show on the same channel suggests this is a mutually consented decision, as opposed to Sergio Mur Sergio Mur on the other hand decided that a new year calls for a new look and haircut: here he is in pics he posted on his facebook page a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1373.snc4/164522_10150169990292178_187478537177_8654673_6856565_n.jpga6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs910.ash1/181840_10150182289047178_187478537177_8830242_1819544_n.jpg

Its sad to only think of Yoli, Fer, David, and Olimpia as the only one's left from the beginning of FoQ.

Well, there have been rumors going around of "old" favorites returning to the show, particularly Álex Barahona as Berto, which would make sense with Sergio Mur out or on his way out. But nothing is confirmed as yet.

Via Twitter, yesterday, Javier Calvo wrote that he had a few days left in NYC and that rehearsals for Season 7 of FoQ would start in March. He says he's very keen to get back to work, and not just.

Marc Clotet (Vaquero) right now is shoting a movie for 5 weeks (the first 3 ones in Madrid, but I dont know if he can do the two things at the same time). More important, for this movie he had to slime down very much. Then, his look right now is very different from Vaquero's. I dont know if writers have thought some explanation about it, or let people wonder what has happened to him. The film is a very great oportunity for Marc (and he's always beautiful!), because he's the main male character (in a women's film), and the movie perhaps will be one of the better Spanish movies of this year, if not the best. If you can see how he's right now, there is an image of the shotting: www.elpais.com/fotografia/cultura/Rodaje/voz/dormida/Benito/Zambrano/plaza/Mayor/elpdiacul/20110224elpepucul_35/Ies/The film is La Voz Dormida (The sleeping voice), directed by Benito Zambrano (Solas) and based on the novel by Dulce Chacon. Marc plays Paulino, the leader of a guerrilla group in the post- Spanish Civil War. This was a time of hunger in Spain, and all the people in the movie are slim. There is a wonderful love story that I think will make enjoy people and remember him as Iago (El Cor de la Ciutat), despite being a straight love story. For more information about this story in English: www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/c/dulce-chacon/sleeping-voice.htm

Thanks for the tip. It's great for Marc as he was so keen on really getting a foothold in the movies. I don't think schedulewise this is going to be really so difficult, unless of course the film goes beyond schedule which can always happen. Javier Calvo mentioned that FoQ would go into rehearsals in March, not proper shooting. I also see from this blog foqnews.blogspot.com/2011/03/la-opinion-de-malaga-organiza-un-chat.htmlthat Olivia Molina is soon starting a play, so that's another conflict. And there is still no final word about Cristina Alcázar's availability. There is only confirmation of Los quien starting rehearsals in mid-February foqnews.blogspot.com/2011/02/cristina-alcazar-en-la-mesa-italiana-de.htmlRe performers moving between cinema and TV, I was stunned the other day when I read that Eduardo Noriega will appear in a new cop show, for Telecinco, called Homicidioswww.laescenacool.com/2011/02/18/homicidios-la-nueva-ris-de-telecinco/That will be his first TV series ever. Too bad he didn't choose Antena 3: I think he would have been terrific as the new art history teacher.

More teasing for the upcoming 7th Season, with this clip put on line today: www.antena3.com/series/fisica-o-quimica/noticias/alma-pasara-mas-fuerte-que-podria-pasar_2011030400111.htmlThe same 4 young stars as the other day give a few (non) hints about what we should expect. Álex Martínez promises Salva will be a bit more forward. Jon (Álex Hernández) recovers from his fall but he "will suffer a very strong interior pain". For Yoli, no romance on the immediate horizon, she'll be "good friends with everybody", but will have a "little conflict with someone unexpected, who could be a he or a she". Finally, something is going to happen to Alma, the most striking thing that could happen to her.

More info from Javier Calvo's tweets. He returned from NYC to Madrid over the weekend. Yesterday, Monday March 7, shooting began on Season 7 of FoQ and he is doing his first scene today, although it will be a silent one for Fer, if I understand correctly. ;D

Again, more info about the upcoming Season 7: this time Antena 3 lets us know about three replacements among the faculty, to make up for the recent departures of José Manuel Seda (Martín), Sergio Mur (Jorge) and Cristina Alcázar (Marina). www.antena3.com/series/fisica-o-quimica/noticias/fernando-andina-sabrina-garciarena-juan-pablo-pace-incorporan-foq_2011031000131.htmlFrom left to right: New director and History teacher: Enrique, played by Fernando Andina (who's a well-known TV actor, and just out of Antena 3's Gavilanes) Fine Arts teacher: Xavi, played by Juan Pablo de Pace (from Argentina, model turned actor, who's also begun to appear for Antena 3) Philosophy teacher: Sara, played by Sabrina Garciarena (another Argentinian who has started a career in Spain) Enrique and Xavi appear remarkably similar to Martín and Jorge: one is a neurotic, hard to like character, whereas the other one is a male bimbo (the actor is notorious for a number of "hot" scenes). No indication as to his sexual orientation. Sara will be the complete opposite of Marina: a "hippie" that Vaquero met over the summer, during a backpack tour of South America. Which probably means, among other things, that Season 7 will pick up aftet the summer break. PS: Ana Milán has tweeted that she's back on the set with a vengeance. so Olimpia is already at work. But I wonder if the show has chosen to have Marina and Arturo get married over the summer, thus quitting the school, with Arturo back to his old job as a doctor.

It appears Javier Calvo will keep a very active profile on Twitter this season: he said he'd keep us posted on when the next season will start airing (if the usual pattern is kept, it should be last week of April or first week of May). He also mentioned that he was shooting a scene on location today with Adrián and that it's very cold.

OK, via a tweet by Ana Milán, it's confirmed that Season 7 will start airing in May. She has even posted a photograph of the cover of the script for what will be the 2nd episode of the season (aka Chapter 72), which is called at this point "Espectáculo" ("Spectacle" or "Show"). yfrog.com/f/h3z9qbbj/I hope this means they continue with the play-within-the-play motif that was present in Season 2 & 6 (not to mention the shorts in Season 4), if only because this might be a way of having David and Fer directly involved in the goings-on at the Zurbarán.

Again, some more info via Twitter, this time from the account of Javier Quintas, one of the titular directors of the show for Ida y vuelta, often seen in the "Making-off" clips posted on the series' website. He's been very busy tweeting about the current shooting.
The first episode of Season 7, chapter 71, wrapped yesterday and editing started today.
All students who were last season in the first year class go on to be now in the second year. And there are students who are repeating their second year. Obviously, that's Yoli and Alma. (There will be a catfight in the first episode between Alma and Teresa...) For the boys, things are a bit more unclear. This is what Javier Quintas said about Fer to someone asking confirmation that he'd be around for the whole season, since he was done with his 2nd year:
"Weeell, Fer did pass. But might be he wasn't satisfied with his overall grade... Don't worry, he's there, and his storyline is a big one."

It seems that Javier Calvo was very active on Twitter yesterday Sunday March 27, answering questions from "los fans", and doing his part like Javier Quintas and Ana Milán promoting the upcoming season: " FoQ will begin in May and we are delighted with the new look they've given the show, really: youthful, rythmic, fantastic, vibrant, terrifying [or maybe he means "terrific" ], awesome, fabulous, poetic, colorful, tough, funny... Let's say, real cool." To the question whether Season 7 would hook again those fans who'd left the ship over the course of Season 6, Javier answered it would [could hardly have said anything else, though, could he? ;D] To a question about Fer's school record, he pointed out that so far, the show had tackled one trimester per season, so six seasons covered the two years of Bachillerato. So far Fer hasn't repeated a course. But " the seventh season is the one that changes everything". So if it is confirmed that Fer is indeed repeating his second year, and that's certainly what it looks like, this logically means Javier Calvo will not leave the show this season or anytime soon. But like Andrea Duro and Adrián Rodríguez, he's in it for the long haul. Of note too, Andrea Duro took part in the Q&A session: Andrea: "And my question is, is Fer gay? LOL" Javier: "And la Yoli? A saint?" Andrea: "A total slut LOL" And she added: "Well, yes, Yoli wants Fer for a boyfriend, she's still in love with him LOL"

The shooting of Marc Clotet's movie, "La voz dormida", ends next April 8th. And after a Spanish newspaper (that talks about his private life), he has begun to get the weight he lost to be the guerrilla leader Paulino. He will shoot FoQ after the movie. And the series will be shot until july, when there will be holidays.

Thank you for this info! So if we go by this, it means Vaquero does NOT appear in the opening chapter of Season 7, since director Javier Quintas tweeted earlier this week that Ch. 71 was ready for broadcast and had been watched and approved by TPTB (as well as by Javier Calvo's father . He might not even make it in time for Ch. 72 which had already started production last week, under another director, Juanma R. Pachón (Quintas was behind schedule). Maybe Vaquero is in no hurry to return as we know he hates the new principal, Enrique. This is no biggie, except Vaquero is supposed to bring back with him from South America the new philosophy teacher, Sara. So that would mean she's also coming in "late", which could leave a window open for Cristina Alcázar as Marina to have a sendoff moment in Ch. 71 (even though she's probably already started work on Los Quién). Will this be true also of Enrique Arce as Arturo? The new Fine Arts teacher Xavi is introduced in Ch. 71, which would confirm what I thought, i.e. Jorge was somehow written off and does not appear at all in Season 7. Xavi appears in Verónica's flat early in the chapter. So I guess his goose is already cooked ;D. (Unless he's supposed to be a friend of Jorge's, in which case, who knows for which team he is batting?) Olimpia OTOH already has a big part in that first chapter. Could that mean her funny story with Vaquero is already over? Finally, there is still a total embargo over info on possible new casting choices for students. This might be expected with more than a month still to go before the season premiere. But, since it seems all the students we already knew will now be in the same 2nd year class, maybe the show will break with what they had started in Season 5, i.e. stories involving students from two different years, and go back to the original formula, everything takes place in the same class. In which case, there might be a very limited number of new faces, if any at all.

From various blogs, the news of yet another new recruit for Season 7 of Física o Química, and yet again an adult. It's Spanish actress Andrea Dueso No info yet as to the part she'll play. (The fact this info came out on April 1 might explain why, we'll see.) I'll fill it in here when this is known. Her website claims she can play teenagers as well as young adults (15 to 25), so she may turn out to be one of the new students.

More info on Andrea Dueso's part in the upcoming Season, from another source, www.vertele.comwww.vertele.com/noticias/fisica-o-quimica-prepara-su-vuelta-en-mayo-con-otra-cara-femenina/Here is the relevant part: "Andrea Dueso will play for two or three chapters Susanna, David's ex-girlfriend. They will run into each other by chance and she offers him a job in her hair salon [NB: I guess Javi had mentioned something about a hair salon (peluquería) used as location]. Her intention is to hook up with him again. He accepts the job offer, but for the rest he is not exactly thrilled." So that means apparently that while Fer is still in school, David has finished with the Bachillerato and is trying to make a living, in a very difficult job market. I hope this also means they have decided to move in together. ETA: This has yet to be confirmed by Antena 3 (as opposed to the info about the 3 new teachers which is available on the channel's website). Thanks to Shiny for drawing my attention to this development

So now the official communiqué from Antena 3: www.antena3.com/series/fisica-o-quimica/noticias/andrea-dueso-sera-susana-david_2011040401566.html"... Andrea Dueso joins the cast as Susana, an ex-girlfriend of David's, for a number of chapters of the upcoming season. Susana will run into David by chance and will try to restart a relationship with him, unaware he's come out of the closet and is now going out with Fer. David will agree to take a job in her hair salon, only for financial reasons. But what does David need the money for? Will Susana learn the whole truth? How will she feel if she finds out?" For those who want to refresh their memories about David's heterosexual past, beside the very conspicuous straight porn he had in his room in his first appearance (3x05) ;D, I'd recommend looking at David and Fer's conversation early in 3x06, when Fer thinks David is about to open his heart about why he kissed him (and instead David explains he's disturbed because he just got dumped by his latest girlfriend whom he was neglecting); and also the very short moment in 4x06 when Fer offers David a couple of tickets for a soccer game: David is worried, because "when my girlfriends cheated on me, the next day they would always offer me some gift because they felt bad about it" (indeed, Fer is feeling bad, because he has found out David's father is having an affair with Olimpia and doesn't know if or how to tell him). So all we know is David was the one who got dumped and cheated on in the past. It will be interesting to see if this is mentioned when Susana is introduced.

Today, according to Javier Quintas, ends the shooting of chapter 73, which will be 7x03 and he is starting shooting on chapter 74 (7x04).
So if the season starts airing early in May, they should have 5 chapters ready, which is probably more or less half the season.

Today, Antena 3 has posted a small behind-the-scenes entry: www.antena3.com/series/fisica-o-quimica/noticias/infiltrado-rodaje-septima-temporada-fisica-quimica_2011040601637.htmlThe occasion was that Jonathan Ruiz Camino, well known for hosting the channel's videochats, will again have a cameo in the series. He will appear in chapter 73 (7x03) as a reporter interviewing Enrique the new director at the school. He already appeared in last season's final episode as Fer's cousin, a silent guest at the non-wedding. But this time he does have lines! Well, at least one... PS: it's all a bit confusing. I thought shooting had ended on chapter 73, but in fact Jonathan is shooting today and posting photos here twitter.com/jrcaminoor here yfrog.com/user/jrcamino/profileLike last year, he'll be holding a video camera as he is supposed to make a documentary feature about the Zurbarán... PPS: Jonathan said he'd be back on the set tomorrow to shoot more footage. So probably more pictures are to come.
