Brownsugar - I think you said it all.
P&B - I believe in everyone's right to state their opinion so not putting down your perspective as you're entitled but I can't agree with what you said.
Having been at the event, I will say it was a surprisingly diverse group of fans. All races, ages, genders, sexual orientations, shapes, etc... appeared to be represented. Despite how different we all were, we had much in common. Aside from our love of Chrolli, I noticed a group of people who were incredibly warm, caring and wonderful. If only to give you a peak into my evening Saturday getting ready for the mixer. There were six of us stuffed in a small hotel room - black, white, male, female, gay, straight, married, divorced, single, with children and without..... Absolutely lovely and I had a wonderful time with them all.
Sitting behind our laptops at home we may operate under the false impression that other fans must be like us. But the reality is that Chrolli is not written to attract the "twenty-something" demographic as is so typical of US t.v. The storyline and actors clearly have a universal appeal and that's why I believe that, with or without a US version, Jo and Thore will go on to continued success.

Thank you everyone for your response.
puppyandbunny has every right to an expressed opinion about Ollian, but what I'm not getting is all the negative response to Ollian's storyline, VL, Jo, Thore, the fans and wonderful event with proceeds for charity.
Sure we bitch and moan about the current storyline and our beloved characters, but it's about the current situation of the show. We are in full support of Jo, Thore and VL. We want them to succeed and continue. I think most of us are over joyed that the story of Oliver and Christian has been picked up by HBO. Good for Jo and Thore. Their storyline on VL is really something special, so what an honor to have it brought by HBO for the American market where millions of viewers will get the opportunity to see it.
All I've read from puppyandbunny in response to all this good news is a need to trample and knock down fans spirits by bringing up ratings for VL, trying to undermine the beauty and success of Ollian internationally and belittle what was accomplished at the GOOL event, while at the same time giving love and praise to the other SOAPS with gay characters. This is the fan message board for our love of Olli and Christian, so puppyandbunny's praise for the other SOAPS is misplaced. Maybe it would be a good idea for puppyandbunny to go share their love for those other gay SOAPS on their respective boards. I'm sure they would appreciate that.

Just my opinion I think puppyandbunny is more a AWZ fan it seem that we all are a big fan of VL, Christian and Olli. Even thou I wasn't there but it seems like Jo and Thore was the center of attention and most popular then the other that came, not saying that they weren't shown as much love as Jo and Thore received. Christian and Olli storyline is more real and Jo and Thore have so much chemistry and there beliveable as a couple. These are just my thoughts and I'm not putting down the other soaps at all they have there fans as well.

The May UFActs newsletter is now out...in which it says (page 7) that Bernadette Feiler is still VL's head writer...

Originally just for the 'general discussion' thread, it was suggested to me that it might be worth a repost in here, too...so.... From the latest ( very spoilery!) 'Gay of our Lives' vlog... Remember a few months back we told you that Das Erste, the company that produces Forbidden Love, was considering canceling either it or Marienhof, its sister soap? As with many other broadcasters around the world, money is tight and the company could no longer continue to produce both shows, meaning one would have to go, most likely replaced by a game show. That’s a fate already met by several cancelled soaps in this country.
Well, a decision has been made and for the moment, Forbidden Love has been spared. While the show isn’t confirming its cancellation, they have said that Marienhof, after 18 years, will cease production as of February 2011 while new episodes of FL have been ordered.
No word on how many episodes have been commissioned, nor now much longer FL can hope to remain on the air. But if the situation is similar to the U.S., this might only be the beginning of the end for FL.
