The actor talks about the gay character that he plays. The gay storyline actually looks good!
Here is the other actor talking about the gay character he plays:

Thank you! This helps a lot, at least until someone uploads this storyline with English subs. I have to say although episode 1 was excellent and episode 2 was good, episodes 3 and 4 have been kinda disappointing. It's moving too slow imo. I get that Segundo has issues because of his homophobic dad, and then he's scared because of AIDS. He also has a girlfriend, as he is still deeply closeted and in denial. What I'm trying to say is his motivations and actions make sense. He is scared and he feels the pressure. What I don't quite get is why Antonio is pining after Segundo when Segundo rejects him all the time. He doesn't really treat him that well. Antonio now has an alternative love interest in Marcos, who seems nice and totally into him, yet Antonio pulled back when Marcos wanted to kiss him. Why?! I don't get it. Sure, love makes blind etc... he is still into Segundo... but still... why?! And in the preview for the next episode his blonde girl friend is pretending to be his girlfriend?! WHY?! He seems totally free. He hasn't specifically said he's gay, but it's obvious, and he isn't really hiding it. WHY would someone as free spirited and proud as him fake having a girlfriend? This is such an old trope, and it doesnt really make sense for Antonio, it's simply bad writing. It's out of character. And why couldn't we get that one kiss between Marcos and Antonio? We have one gay kiss in the first episode, then... no gay kiss since. I know it's a telenovela, and it's slow going in the beginning. This might just be me being impatient, but these things annoy me. I know it's still early. When the storyline actually kicks off I'm sure it'll be good. Some stuff in the last few episodes have just bugged me. The tropes are so old. It would be better if Antonio at the very least got an alternative love interest until Segundo comes around. I feel like we need another kiss, either between Antonio and Marcos or (less likely imo) between Antonio and Segundo for the story to move forward, because right now it has stalled. People are already calling it boring. Anyways, sorry for my rant, just my opinion. I'm sure Marcos and Antonio will get together eventually, before Antonio ends up with Segundo in the end, as the actor has basically said as much. But right now I'm kinda meh about this all. I'll continue to watch, hoping it gets better. Episode 4: Preview episode 5:

Looks like they are finally dropping the fake girlfriend storyline as Antonio says he's gay and likes Segundo in this preview:

This show is most likely a goner, the ratings are really bad. It's such a shame. Finally a telenovela with gays as the protagonists and this happens. So typical. I wonder if Argentina just isn't ready for a gay storyline?

Unfortunately, there's a new wave of virulent homophobia (not that it ever really went away, but now they don't have to pretend to tolerate us) and I fear gay-centric shows are falling victim to that. It's too bad that this looks set to be yet another. I really thought/hoped Latin American telenovelas had turned a corner when Aristemo got their own spin-off, but it turns out that was the exception, not the rule. Now I have to wonder if the spin-off ended up being so short with an abrupt ending due to homophobic reactions but the producers just didn't want to admit it publicly. After that, Mexican telenovelas shoved their gays back into the closet and wouldn't even let them kiss (another male) onscreen. Even Emilio Osorio seems to have tapered off his allyship since then. For a guy who, as a teen, persuaded his reluctant dad to go with his character being gay, now Osorio productions don't even include gay characters. Maybe they saw what happened to Joaquin Bondoni and decided it was going to adversely affect his career.

For a guy who, as a teen, persuaded his reluctant dad to go with his character being gay, now Osorio productions don't even include gay characters. Maybe they saw what happened to Joaquin Bondoni and decided it was going to adversely affect his career. To be fair they have been fairly explicit with the gay scenes, well... there has only been one gay kiss so far, but that one was passionate. I thought there would be a new gay kiss in the new episode, but it was just a dream (so typical). Looks like there will be a new gay kiss in tonight's episode. Anyways, my point is just that the gay scenes are decent actually, and the storyline is good. The actors have alluded to several love scenes this season, so I don't think that is what the problem is. The problem is the fact that for the first time a telenovela has gays (as in male) as protagonists, not only are they main characters, they actually get to kiss, to come out and to have a love life. That's what makes this show so groundbreaking. I think this is also why it's struggling so much with the ratings. The story has been decent so far (I admit it's not the best novela I've ever watched, but it's not the worst either). I really don't think it deserves the low rating. I have seen a ton of homophobic comments from people who say they refuse to watch because of the gay stuff. It didn't get better when two of the actors confirmed they're dating. I swear basically 90 % of the comments were homophobic. Sadly, I think because the fact that the telenovela is so groundbreaking is also the reason why it's struggling. I don't think Argentina is ready for a soap with gay male protagonists, that much is clear. They can probably stomach gays who are minor characters having a small storyline, and maybe a gay kiss during the soaps entire run, which has been the norm for other soaps, but clearly not gay male protagonists. I also wonder if the AIDS part is making people uncomfortable. There's also the fact that I think some people are getting sick of hearing about the virus and don't want to live through that again. Anyways, tl;dr: the novela deserves better but is the victim of homophobia. I thought Argentina was more progressive than it actually is. I feel so bad for the actors, Toni in particular, because this is his first big project. I feel like he deserves more, all the actors do. They are all doing a great job. I'm sure they'll all land on their feet though, they are talented and wll bounce back from this. It's too bad people won't watch. Now Tato has even started doing fanservice on insta. I also suspect that is why Toni is posting so much boyfriend stuff with Santi too, partly because he wants to, but partly because he knows it's good promo for the show. With all this said, it is still early, the numbers can get better. But if not and if it does get cancelled, then too bad. What makes me sad is that if this novela fails then maybe they won't do another novela with gay male protagonists for many more years to come, which is depressing. I'm sure we'll get some minor gay storylines, but nothing like this one.

Here's a clip from the new episode. I have to say I'm loving these two together, maybe because I know they're dating irl. They have amazing chemistry, and it's noticeable on screen. The only problem is that I find it harder and harder to root for the main couple (Antonio and Segundo).

Good news: the ratings have improved. I think the first episode had a 10 rating, if I'm not mistaken, it then went down to 6, which is terrible, but it's up again to 8. It's not great but it's at least better than the horrible 6 rating.

I never thought it would happen to an Argentine telenovela, as I have high hopes for telenovelas from Argentina because I know they don't censor gay kisses, but here we are. They literally censored a gay kiss in the new episode. I probably wouldn't have been this upset if it was a telenovela from lets say Colombia, where it's common to censor gay scenes, but Argentina?! One of very few countries in Latin America (if not the only one) that actually shows gay scenes?! Fuck this shit. I am heartbroken. I cannot believe this happened. I know they edit out scenes from telenovelas all the time, but I don't believe for a second they just happened to edit out one of very few gay kisses in this telenovela. They did it on purpose. I also know it was a last minute decision, because they still had the kiss in the thumbnail for the episode! I wouldn't have been this upset if they had edited it out of the episode a while ago, and didn't show it in the thumbnail, that way we wouldn't even know about it. But the kiss is LITERALLY shown in the thumbnail for the episode. It's fucking clickbait. One of the actors even showed the kiss on his insta story, he reposted a pic. The kiss is part of the promo pics for the episode! Yet the kiss was nowhere to be seen?! I'm sad. I know the telenovela is struggling with the ratings, and I feel like this was some pathetic attempt to appease the homophobes, since the show is "too gay". What they don't realize is the homophobes never would have watched the show in the first place! They don't realize this latest censorship is pissing people off and they lose even more viewers, which they really can't afford because the show is struggling enough already as is.

I'm kinda shocked they allowed this to air tbh. I mean... it's not THAT explicit, but they do imply them having sex. This is a telenovela, it's conservative. This is more than I expected. Of course I wish they had shown even more, but my expectations were low, especially after they cut that gay kiss.
