Thank you for that link, Meidocfan. Even though, I'm not the biggest fan of Noah Meyer, Jake Silbermann will always have a place in my heart. I voted for him.

Jake shouldn't be coming to Germany anytime soon. This is a phantom pic of a killer they are looking for in NRW, doesn't it look a bit like Noah???

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT !! HOLLA!!!! Warmed my heart a little too. It's why I left a comment on DaytimeConfidential.com letting them know how pleasantly surprising it was to see him on the list. I also love them for calling Casey/Emily one of the best couples of 2008. Anyhoo, maybe someone should nudge TPTB to see what DC said about Jake. TPTB really need to include him more on the overall canvas of the show. He needs to have his character be known for more than just Luke's on/off boyfriend. Flesh Noah out. I am hoping having Jade on the show will also mean maybe giving him another person for Noah to interact with even though it's another family member of Luke's.

That is so true. Lovely voice and laugh as well. Also, his calm and almost desperate attempts at making the - very nervous - listeners comfortable and to articulate what they're trying to say were the most adorable thing. Thanks for the link!

www.out.com/detail.asp?id=22601Out on Daytime Newcomer Jake Silberman turns heads on- and offscreen. by Christine Champagne December 2007Talk about being thrust into the gay media spotlight. Jake Silberman was invited to the GLAAD Media Awards this spring even though at the time he had yet to make his debut as gay teenage TV station intern Noah Mayer on As the World Turns. Silberman was thrilled to attend, although it was a little awkward. “I got there really early, and some representatives from GLAAD said, ‘Oh, since you’re here early, you can walk down the red carpet yourself.’ I said, ‘Uh, I think I’ll wait until the other actors from As the World Turns arrive.’ It was my first red carpet, and it wasn’t like anyone was going to know who I was,” Silberman says laughing. This tall, dark, and handsome 24-year-old, who would likely have turned heads on his own, ultimately strode down the red carpet with his co-stars from the soap, including Van Hansis, the Emmy-nominated actor who plays Luke Snyder. Noah and Luke, who has been unlucky in love thus far, will embark on a romance this summer. The two certainly make a handsome couple. Silberman, a native New Yorker who graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in theater, says that he and Hansis had chemistry from the moment they met at Silberman’s audition for the show. “I just shook his hand, and we did the scene, and it felt really natural,” Silberman says. This, despite the fact that both Hansis and Silberman identify as straight. “I didn’t hesitate for a second,” Silberman responds when asked if he worried about playing gay in his first high-profile gig. In fact, his excitement about playing Noah was only heightened after his experience at the aforementioned GLAAD gala. “It was emotional. People are very excited about this,” Silberman says, “and it was great being at the awards and feeling that and realizing that this is more than a role.”

Am I being overly sensitive in thinking it was weird that the interviewer felt the need to bring up jake's girlfriend? it's not like she was there or that he was talking about her. it just felt very pointed.

I didn't think the mention of Jake's girlfriend in the interview was "pointed" or "weird" at all. The original restaurant that they were supposed to have the interview was closed, so they went to another place. A place, that evidently, Jake's been to with his girlfriend. At least Jake's finally received a profile soap opera spotlight on him and his character after almost 2 years of being on the show. Am I being overly sensitive in thinking it was weird that the interviewer felt the need to bring up jake's girlfriend? it's not like she was there or that he was talking about her. it just felt very pointed.

I was just reading an Nelson Branco article about the 10 worst soap actors where he mentions Jake. But what catch my attention were the coments of some people who said that Nelson has something personal against Jake and said something about a soap cruise. Somebody knows something about this?

There was a cruise called "Rock The Soap" where a bunch of soap opera actors and fans hung out on a boat for a weekend (in March of 2009) During one of the Q&A Session, Nelson Branco started criticizing Van and Jake about the January 12 sex scene of Luke and Noah. Nelson claimed that the actors were responsible for how "chaste" the scene was and for the fact that most of the "action" happened off screen. Nelson also accused Jake of not wanting to have a "real" sex scene on screen with a man. Some reports suggest that Nelson implied that Van was closeted. It was just ugly. Van and Nelson then got into a back and forth argument about it and it got out of hand ( I guess Van had h some wine and he cussed Nelson out). Anyway, they were all drinking (except Jake), even the folks in the audience was tipsy. Nelson Branco claims that he and Van are "friends" and that afterward they all hung out (which seems unlikely). There is no video footage of the argument but there is video footage of the Q&A session where the argument occurred. It was a very funny, very informative and down to earth Q&A. Most impressive to me was how Jake and Van have each other's back and are so in sync and how close they are. I had to read almost every post from Vanhansis.net and Jake Silbermann.net about the cruise to figure out what happened because there was nothing written about it anywhere in the media, just lots of mentions of it in different people's comments and such. THE VIDEO OF THE Q&A is here gaydaytime.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=atwt&action=display&thread=73&page=8#523526 Parts (1-5, then an "Oops" part)

That's lame and very soapy (and more interesting than most Nuke storylines). But come on, this guy can't be serious. How on earth an actor who plays the boyfriend of an supporting character (Noah gain importance lately but he totally depends of Luke to stays on ATWT) can impose his opinion to the writers. We all know the reason why his sex scene was mostly off screen, the same reason of the kiss ban, the producers fear to shock the audience. But to be honest i don't have any problem with that episode, i find it sweet. I really like the show Nuke on bed, not for sex, just a random scene of boys talking before hit the sack. I find very unfair blame the actors, it's just as absurd of blaming them for the kiss ban And about concerns for the sex scene, i don't know any actor who likes sex scenes, no matter it was gay sex or straight sex, no matter the actor is gay or straight, all says that sex scenes are very uncomfortable The truth is a read some articles of Nelson Branco and he dislike Jake very much, and don't lose any oportunity to slam Nuke storylines. The last one about the new character (Mason) saying that Nuke will became irrelevant when Y&R gay storyline begins, i find that very rushed, come on, right now Rafe is a barely there character, hopefully the story will become great, but the truth is Noah was most important in his first episode than Rafe is right now on Y&R after months on screen (but almost null screen time)
And about Van and Jake friendship, it's just amazing, because they are really close and care for each other. It's just curious that Van recognize that he didn't want Jake for the role, because the other candidate was his friend from college

Well to be fair to Van, I don't think Van didn't want Jake for the role. He didn't say he didn't want Jake, but Jake was a stranger. His friend from college was a known entity so he thought it might be easier for them to be boyfriends.
Also, initially the role of "Noah" was not supposed to go out with Maddie first. Noah was supposed to already be gay when he entered the show. But the storyline changed.
So by the time Van and Jake were suppose to kiss for the first time, they had been working together for over a month already. I'm sure that helped to make things more comfortable.
Van didn't know Jake before he auditioned for the role.
I think Van was just excited to have someone he knew possibly play the role but he has said many, many times that he was happy with Jake being cast and that they hit it off immediately.
Both Jake and Van have said they love working together and they think they are a good fit to play Luke and Noah.
It's something I really like about them that they don't get as much credit for as the guys who play Olli and Christian.
This is Jake's first real part and I think he has grown by leaps and bounds as an actor.
But here's the key thing about Jake playing Noah.
Jake has always said that from the beginning, he saw Noah as being very uptight, rigid and emotionally stunted and not very good living without strict rules (because of his upbringing)
I think that is exactly how Noah came across for the first 9 months of the role and it's something that people don't appreciate.
People always say that Noah is "stiff" or "uptight but that was INTENTIONAL on Jake's part because that's how he conceived of the character.
Nelson accused Jake of playing himself but in every interview with Jake you see a warm, charming, relaxed down-to-earth guy who's very sexy and very open and engaging with the audience and with Van.
Noah is nothing like that. That's why Nelson's critique that Jake is just playing himself is ridiculous.
Nelson and everyone else just wanted some big butch guy to come in and sweep Luke off his feet and have really passionate sex scenes and basically just do Luke's bidding because Luke is a legacy character and in their eyes, Noah only exist to serve Luke.
For those of us who never watched ATWT before Jake arrived, that's not necessarily how we see it. I see the story as that of BOTH Luke and Noah and I would love for the writers to spend a lot of time developing Noah's current storyline and his past and giving us more insight into the character.
I think Jake has completely made us root for Noah to get past his father issues and to grow and change and we BELIEVE Noah loves Luke because of Jake (despite the evil writing of the Ameera storyline). Even during that storyline, Jake make it very clear through his body language and his expression and his delivery of lines that Noah was suffering and torn between wanting to help Ameera and wanting Luke to be happy.
Jake was so sexy and full of emotion and range in a lot of those scenes with Van during the Ameera time but folks just gloss over it because they hated the storyline so much.

Well, i assumed that when Van said he was sending bad vibrations in their audition all the time, he was jocking. It's so obvious that they like each other than they have no problem with joke about when they first meet. I find amazing that Jake was to the GLADD awards even before start shooting scenes with Van.
I didn't know that the Maddie relationships wasn't the first plan, and that explain a lot of thinks, i only find weird that Noah (who obviously know he was gay before luke, Col mayer reaction explain that) had sex with Maddie right out of the blue.
I don't find fair, that some people blame them for the faults in their storylines, if Nuke was (and is) a success is because they try hard to give the characters dignity, and because Jake and Van have a really good chemistry together.
And about Jakes acting skills, it's true that he hasn't Van's talent, but he improve a lot lately, and i think he will get better in the future. Right now, Noah is growing as character and he is getting the same status as Luke. In fact he is the main in the new storyline, and i like that.
And i think this Nelson guy has the same problem with Nuke (yes he bash Jake all the time, but i think it's because he can't find a reason to bash Van too) that all those people who send Annie Proulx corrections about the end of Brokeback Mountain, he has something in mind about what Nuke's storylines must be, and if the current storylines don't fit in his mind, he bash the actors (what i don't understand is why he doesn't bash the writers)
