yes but will there be A LGBT Character Well, it seems we have the answer now. Here's an excerpt from this article (emphasis mine): "Across the term, Waterloo Road’s teachers and parents are going to have to learn on their feet as they try to navigate the ever changing social landscape - from teen homelessness to the cost of living, being LGBTQ+, racism, sexism, mental health and everything else facing young teens today." The article also has some pics (the last one may be the queer character?) www.digitalspy.com/soaps/a42062247/waterloo-road-return-date-first-look/Waterloo Rd returns in January.

Waterloo Road has a premiere date, and it's very soon: Tuesday, Jan 3rd. And the trailer is making it ever more likely it will move out of this forum and in with the living!

I just finished the new season. Even though I enjoyed the drama overall, I have to say: Regarding Joe and Mike: I'm disappointed to say that the only time Joe and Mike touched was probably just their arms touching for 1 second in the last episode. If they hadn't kept mentioning the adoption, they could quite literally pass for random mates throughout the whole season. It irked me so much. Regarding Kai and Preston: They did get more scenes together this season BUT in first few episodes, it seemed like they were building up tension for a kiss scene (they got interrupted 2 times). It never came. It was weird. Then they pecked for 1 second (not even focused on them) in a random scene towards the end of the season. But... we then have gotten a flashback scene where they showed for like 1 second a never-seen-before scene of them kissing, and it looked like it was a huge moment for them, with the camera focusing on them (based on those few frames it looked like the camera was circling around them during the kiss, which would have been actually nice). And that's exactly what those episodes were missing in terms of their storyline, I've been waiting for this huge romantic moment between them, which was apparently cut. I'm actually speechless that they cut the only proper gay kissing scene of the season. We have also gotten a teaser/trailer for "Next term" at the end of the last episode. I assume they will call it Season 13.

The gay kiss scene was cut. It was in the trailer. There is no reason to cut a gay kiss other than homophobia. The kiss never would have been cut if it was straight, or even a lesbian kiss. The fact that this happened on BBC makes it even worse. BBC is the British broadcaster. It's important we let them know that it's not ok and we don't accept this. It's infuriating that this shit is still happening in 2023. The same shit happened on ATAV2. They cut a very important gay kiss. The fans of the show tried to excuse it away by saying it happens all the time in telenovelas. That they all the time cut scenes. I call bs. The gay kiss was in the thumbnail for the episode AND the promo pics for the episode, yet it was cut. It's clear they want to cut the gay kisses down to a minimum. This past week we got zero gay kisses, they managed to include a lesbian kiss though, of course. Same with straight kisses and even straight sex scenes, while the gays, who are the main characters btw, barely get one gay kiss a week. Fucking hypocritical. Also important to note: the straight kiss in the preview for the episode didn't get cut. Only the gay one. I couldn't accept the homophobia so I just stopped watching. Same with Waterloo Road. I don't accept cutting gay kisses. I just boycott the shows instead.

To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I never thought the BBC would do something like this. It is despicable. And really, who are they pandering to? Do they truly believe rightwingers are still watching this show? I have news for them: those bigots would already have tuned out after the first season of the revival, when the show broached topics of racial justice, discriminatory policing, etc. I feel bad for the actors who are portraying this story so well and having their work cut from broadcast. But most of all I feel bad for the teens watching this show who will now learn that progressiveness is for everyone else except gay couples.
