I wonder what happened to all those Merman shows we were promised at the beginning of the year? The only one that ever made a splash was 'Fairy Tail Romance' starring Alex Diaz. The others just seemed to sink without a trace. Anyhoo, a new Merman show from Taiwan has now been announced. Based on the popular Japanese manga 'Merman in My Tub' it has been retitled to "49 Days With a Merman" and is already filming. It's down to have 12 episodes of 30 minutes duration and is claimed to be "a really big production". Here's a better pic of the main couple:

No sooner do GMMTV put some of their boys into a Big Brother style show in Safe House, than Domundi (sort-of) do the same. Except these boys are only going to be locked up together for 2 days. Doesn't that just mean they're having a sleepover? 😏

What's this and where can I watch it? 👀 fb.watch/acBZ305hP0/Actually its a 12 part Chinese BL with a title that translates as 'Countdown to the fall of The Genius Gamer'. The episodes are only bitesize - around 5 to 8 minutes long - and although I did find them all (not in the same place) there were only 2 that had English subtitles. The plot as far as I could understand it, had student Lin Feng earning money by working as an e-sports gamer who catches the eye of rich brat Yu Shu after criticising him online. Yu Shu decides to teach Lin a lesson but instead finds himself falling in love. It's not quite that straightforward of course, paparazzi and a duplicitous father (?) also play their part in confounding the the boys natural attraction for each other. The clip above is actually from the last episode and the tag scene at the end of it sets up one of the most blatant double-entendre's I've ever seen in a Chinese show. The boys are talking about what they will call their planned future restaurant and Yu Shu (green hoodie) decides on the simple joining of their names "Yu Shu Lin Feng" Lin (white 'drew' T shirt) moans that doing that is old fashioned and then adds "Also, why is it you come first?"Yu leans forward and knowingly replies "Because it's you!" and Lin's face shows that he realises they are not talking about names anymore. 😳 This show will apparently be the first BL series to be rebroadcast in mainline China since the original LGBT censorship ban was imposed... baby steps.

Just a quick announcement to let you know that a lot of the (mainly) lower budget BL's from the Philippines have been getting pulled from You Tube this past week. In total 10 BL series are no longer viewable and the relevant threads on the board are now full of YT's grey 'not available' boxes! These are the shows that have gone: Art of Love Destined/Fated Hook Up Kumusta Bro My Chinito Prince My Day The Series Swap Test Truly Very Yours Unexpected UnguardedBecause most of the videos have been made 'private' there is always the possibility they may be unlocked and come back again at some stage but the likelihood is that most of them will have gone for good. Oh that sucks! I had My Day in my Watch Later queue to watch again and never got around to it. What was the reason for taking down these BL's? Just out of curiosity.

Maybe it's just me but I feel like at some point there was a new show starting or new episode of a show coming out everyday for the past few months and now it seems like the numbers have drastically dropped. Was it just a BL season of being graced with a lot of eps? I've accepted that I'm losing my mind and maybe some of the newer shows haven't caught my attention yet.

I think that there was a lot of energy in Taiwan and the Philippines for making new storylines - but COVID has derailed a lot of the progress in Thailand (which I think explains some of the drought now - especially since several shows that were slated to air about now have been shifted to later in the Fall or even next year) and has slowed production in Taiwan (Love is Science for example took a (a very frustrating) month long hiatus). I think for the Pinoy films that it may come down to a lack of resources (and in a few cases very bad behavior from Directors/producers) - I have to think that some of the lower budget shows were really depending on youtube ad revenues to keep going. South Korea seems to be producing content at the steady clip that they have been doing for the past 2-3 years - 1-2 new (but short) shows every 1-2 months. I think the Vietnamese companies are interested in doing more content - but are likely hampered by the same financing issues that the Pinoy companies have (for example O2 Productions is still putting up clips/chats from their actors, but it has been awhile since they have done any new shows).

JTL TV have pulled all content from their YouTube channel so it means another two (low budget) series are no longer viewable with the relevant threads on the board showing YT's grey 'unavailable' boxes.
The BL series which have gone are:
90 Days The Series Cut The Series
They also released the short film 'Third and Josh' which has also been removed.
Their YT channel now has a different name so I guess they have folded JTL TV as a company altogether.

Yesterday Global TV - SMO, the Philippines outfit responsible for the BL series 'One Day Pag-ibig The Series' and 'Paano Kaaya Kung Tayo' did a live stream to reveal that Ivo Rosimo, the young actor who headlined both those series and was due to appear in their new production 'He's Mine' has "DECIDED TO STOP appearing in series project and will just focus on his studies for now. (According to him and His Parents)."
'He's Mine' has now been put into abeyance until further notice. The previous announced second season of 'One Day Pag-ibig The Series' has also been put on hold.

This tweet might not look like much but it's from Sammon, author of Manner Of Death and Grab a Bite (Bite Me) and translates as "21.9.2021 I have something to say."
Looks very much like an official announcement is in the offing. Let's hope it's MOD2! 🤞

The state of play from GMMTV is: Bad Buddy has finishing filming and is confirmed to be coming soon. Baker Boys started filming two weeks ago. Not Me- Gun and Mond have posted that they are 'getting ready' as filming is imminent. Enchante - no news, but was the least popular of the announced shows so has been pushed down the pecking order. The Player - still in the workshop stage.

A couple of posts up I mentioned that author Sammon had something to say on 21st September. She brought it forward a day to announce that her novel 'Make a Wish' is officially going into production. As mentioned earlier in the thread, the book had been optioned for filming and has now got the go ahead. It's the story of a romance between a Doctor who is able to see ghosts and the Angel who comes to help him overcome them. The leads have already been cast with the tease being that they are a popular couple who are ready to make a comeback. Umm, I wonder who it can be? 🤔

WeTV have been advertising their line-up for 2022. It looks like there will be four BL shows in the mix: First, of course, is the long awaited 'Love Mechanics'Then we have 'Y You Y Me'Followed by '609 Bedtime Story' which is set in a parallel universe. And finally 'I Feel You Linger in the Air' which they are claiming to be the first ever historical BL series*. Oh, and there's a bit of time-travel in this one, too! *Does 'Nobleman Ryu's Wedding' not count anymore?

Just in addition to the above WeTV post, it's probably worth mentioning that while WeTV is calling the 'historical' series "I Feel You Linger In The Air", the actual producers, Dee Hup House, have been referring to it as "Smell of Love".
Their take is that this is "a love story where a protagonist time-travels back a hundred years earlier to Chiang Mai" with the synopsis that "Jom, a heart-broken architect, runs his car into a river and wakes up in the Northern Province of the Siam Kingdom during the 1910 to 20's era."
Unlike the other new series, WeTV didn't mention any cast for this show, however the BL rumour mill has pretty much nailed it's colours to the mast in declaring it will be KaoUp. I don't know how true that is but since this is from the same company that made 'Lovely Writer' and they are known to be keen on turning KaoUp into a ship couple, it's reasonable to assume they would give them another high profile series to solidify their status together. From the little I know of the story I think they would be a good fit.

GMMTV's "The Player" will start filming from today. That only leaves "Enchante" from this year's list of delayed BL productions to get off the starting block.

While we're waiting for Chap and Green's upcoming BL, they have started putting out a mini tiktok series under the title: "Chapter of Green" (I saw what you did there!) which follows the daily life of two friends working in a café. Each 'episode' lasts around a minute in length with the mini morsels going out on Tiktok on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. I've watched them all so far and they're quite sweet. Unfortunately this board doesn't support direct links for tiktok so here's the tiktok page for the series teaser: Chapter of Green teaser

Even though no one can ever be bothered to reply when I ask this question, I'm doing it again. 😏 Anyone out there want to try and guess who these boys are? Apart from their hairstyles I don't think these two have changed much at all since they performed together.
