I thought season 3 hasn’t been confirmed yet? Not officially at least. Where did you hear that?

At this point I don't dare to hope anymore. If you expect nothing from these international Skam franchises, you won't be disappointed when they indulge in the latest trend of gay/bi erasure. Still, it doesn't change the fact that the achievements of the last three decades in advancing gay visibility onscreen are being reversed. I'd prefer these shows are cancelled before they actually get to (what was supposed to be) the season of gay romance, because then gay and bi boys aren't given confirmation that contemporary society deems that their lives are not worth representing onscreen. Of course they may still suspect it, but at least it isn't confirmed beyond the shadow of a doubt by transplanting gay boys with bi girls or bi boys with trans characters.

Men are the enemy, especially white men. Therefore, according to this logic, 'erasing' their presence is perfectly legitimate. Even here, on a board dedicated to gay males, we're being silenced - witness the lock-down on the Druck sub-thread.

I find very surprised that most shows decided to skip the gay storyline when that storyline was a huge success in the norge original, and in the italian and french remakes.
It just doesn't make sense

I find very surprised that most shows decided to skip the gay storyline when that storyline was a huge success in the norge original, and in the italian and french remakes. It just doesn't make sense The decision didn't make sense - both economically and in service of the ready-built fanbase. But it is on-trend at the moment to marginalise or erase gay male characters, so the showrunners probably went with the flow. I do think that, had they brought forward the gay character's season, they would probably have only staved off the decline in viewership until the subsequent season when a less popular character was the lead while the gay couple was demoted to background (which is what happened in Italia). Unless they found a way to make subsequent seasons an ensemble show with continued prominence for the gay couple, or made the second half of the gay couple the principal protagonist of a consecutive season (which would have triggered certain quarters), I don't know how else they could've sustained the viewership.
