The latest clip is seriously hot. How has this show not been on our radar until the first season is almost ending?! I actually didn’t even know the show was still on the air. It was a HUGE flop... after Univision dropped the show completely in the US and Las Estrellas in Mexico moved it from its original time-slot in the primetime to a timeslot they would normally show re-runs, I figured the show would propably get cancelled soon. I cant really see this one going very far unfortunaly... the first season will be the only season at this point |

A pity because they actually beat MMTMF to a gay kiss. |

A pity because they actually beat MMTMF to a gay kiss. They did, and I actually think the show being doomed helped then cross those lines. They didn’t have anything to lose at this point. The show also tried to emulate ELITE very badly. As much as I liked that they showed the kisses, the storyline development was really bad. MMTMF has no kisses, but they were able to really create a compelling storyline that got the Mexican people rooting for the gay characters. In a perfect world, both things - story and PDA - would be just as present, but in Latin America, where “baby steps” are taking a little longer than it should, I think I’ll take a better narrative over just kisses. Hopefully things can evolve and we get both  |

Hopefully things can evolve and we get both You raise a good point (that they had nothing to lose) - plus the actors in this are over 18 so that could also be a factor. I'm not discounting the significant progress MMTMF has made: normalizing gay kids and same-sex romance for Mexican families is a really crucial step towards societal acceptance. The storytelling approach, getting fans invested in each character as individuals and then as a couple, was right for them. The thing that really got my goat was how casually MMTMF threw in Ari being kissed by a girl he barely knew. That cheapened the moment for me - after all the drama about Ari never feeling anything for anyone of either gender until Temo came along, they should've reserved Ari's first kiss for the boy who helped him discover love. And hey, it looks like next week we will finally get a kiss. |

And hey, it looks like next week we will finally get a kiss. I totally get your sentiment... I don't like it either and, unfortunately, they do that a lot in gay storylines in Latin America. I was actually surprised they didn't have Santiago kissing any of the girls in Malhação this season. I think that the depiction of 'gay youth' being still a "new" territory on TV in Latin America, we'll still get those bumps along the way, but I'm glad to see things evolving. I was actually not excepting a kiss at all in the Aristemo storyline (just like wasn't in the Santiel storyline in Malhação), so I'm excited it's happening before the show ends... that's SO important for kids see them represented on such a big platform such as primetime TV, even if it's still not perfect. |

Actually Santiel did kiss on Malhação - but it was only the one time. I know, that's what I meant. I wasn't expecting an Aristemo kiss and it looks like it's happening (just like I wasn't expecting in the Santiel storyline and it happened). In the Santiel storyline I was even more surprised they didn't wait until the end of the season to show a kiss, and even though they haven't aired any kisses since then, the characters still show a considerable amount of PDA that makes it clear they are boyfriends, which has been quite surprising to me considering the show always hesitated so much in portraying gay characters in any major storyline. |
