In case you are interested in the current situation regarding Easy and Ringo: After the wedding storyline at the end of 2019 (which was IMO great), they had a becoming-parents storyline in 2020. The first half of this storyline was IMO awful and the worst content they had as a couple so far. It became much better once surrogate son Julius was introduced in autumn of 2020. Julius is a quite interesting character and their family dynamics works very well. After the obvious "gaining Julius trust" story came another one, where he was bullied in school and which was pretty well done, especially Ringo using shady tactics to pay the bully back. Both Ringo and Easy also got some good parts in a pretty good storyline focussing on the rape of Vivien (Tobias' current girlfriend/now wife). They were mostly in supporting parts since April but have a bigger story now again, which Easy actually getting lost in the desert and Ringo searching for him. This story started very well and I hope they can keep the momentum.

Ringo has found and saved Easy in the desert in what was IMO a pretty entertaining storyline. By the way, the reason Easy wasn't around for a while was because his actor Lars Steinhöfel and his real life boyfriend took part in a German reality show called "Sommerhaus der Stars" (Summer house of the stars). The episodes are also streaming on TVNow currently. I don't watch this show anymore and haven't even started to watch this season, because the previous ones got more and more awful. But from what I've read and heard, they are pretty popular among the watchers, especially in comparison to some really awful couples.
In the soap, Ringo and Easy have another major story that started shortly after their return from Morocco. Ringo's boss Benedikt Huber has comitted tax fraud. And now that it has come to light, he is trying to put the blame on Ringo, who as the controller and later co-director was responsible for the finances. Huber has used a forged signature of Ringo for his scam. Ringo has been arrested in the TVNow episodes right now and it seems there will be a trial. As a further complication, the tax fraud is also endangering the adoption of Ringo and Easy's foster son Julius.

Current status: Ringo is in prison with Timothy Boldt having had a somewhat longer break from shooting. Easy tries to prove Ringo's innocence and also has to deal with the fact that youth welfare had taken away Julius for now. Easy is currently slipping Benedikt a drug, hoping to get him to confess, that he was behind the tax fraud. Ringo is returning at the end of November with Tobias managing to get him out of prison until the trial. He teams up with Easy in drugging Benedikt, but Easy wants to stop it once Benedikt had hallucinations from the drug and attacked his current girlfriend. Ringo continues anyway, though, hoping to clear his name, get Julius back and get revenge on Benedikt.

I always thought Ringo and Benedikt came to an uneasy truce and even friendship, how did it progress to him framing Ringo for a jailable offence? Is Ringo's absence (in prison) due to Timothy taking time off or some other acting job?

I don't know anything about another acting job during his break. But I don't know for sure. @benedikt and Ringo: The short answer is, that Benedikt never planned to do this. It's just that now that the tax fraud came out, he sacrificed Ringo to avoid going into prison himself. The much longer answer is in the spoiler. It's not a spoiler, but it hasn't that much to do with Ringo or Easy: Huber Bau made a deal with another company (called Hoffmann Bau) to build a hospital in Ghana. Anton Hoffmann, the boss of Hoffmann Bau, was Benedikt's business partner, and Benedikt introduced him to Eva Wagner, who started to work for Hoffmann as a lawyer.
Then Tobias' girlfriend (now wife) Vivien got raped by a man in a devil's mask, and suspicion fell on Hoffmann's son Sebastian*. Eva was Sebastian's lawyer but then found some proof, that he really was guilty. When it seemed, that Sebastian would get off free, Eva secretly switched sides and gave the proof to Tobias. Sebastian was sentenced to seven years in prison. Hoffmann later realized Eva's betrayal and took his money out of the hospital project, because Benedikt was the one who introduced him to Eva.
Since Huber Bau couldn't stem the project alone, they lost a lot of money and the company is very close to bankrupcy. Then Benedikt learned, that he had to pay additional 500.000 Euro taxes and was afraid that it would be the end of Huber Bau (which is a family company, and he does not want to be the family member responsible for it's downfall). So with the help of some shady partner, he invented a fake project in Lithuania to avoid paying the taxes. Since Ringo was always the one to sign these kind of projects, Benedikt decided to use Ringo's signature, so that it wouldn't seem suspicious. At this point, Ringo was in Morocco searching for Easy and before he left, he gave his blanco signature if needed.
Benedikt hoped, that the truth would never come out, but of course it did. Ringo's signature is on the papers, and since Benedikt doesn't want to go to prison himself, he kept silent and decided to blame it on Ringo. Originally he offered Ringo help (and really meant it in his twisted way) and suggested that Ringo should just confess everything. Benedikt wanted to pay for the best lawyers to make sure that Ringo would get as light a punishment as possible and as a reward for his loyalty he wanted to give Ringo a big sum of money to start a new life with his family. But Ringo refused, because him having a criminal record could mean he would lose Julius. And once Ringo started to find some evidence against Benedikt, Benedikt lured him into a trap and made sure that Ringo got arrested.
By the way, Ringo is not completely innocent either. Shortly after returning from Africa with Easy, he found out about the tax fraud. Benedikt basically emotionally blackmailed him, because Benedikt actually payed for the rescue mission, and without his help, Easy would be dead. So Ringo decided to help Benedikt covering his tracks, but at this point, the tax fraud was already a done deal and Ringo did not know, that his signature was on the papers.
I do think this was needed, because Huber Bau storylines were getting stale and repetitive, and Benedikt and Ringo becoming enemies could be a welcome change. Also, it looks like we might get some more evil Ringo again. And I love evil Ringo, especially if it is because of such an understandable motive.
*Sebastian was a complete sociopath and IMO the most evil villain this show had in the last 15 years or so, at the very least among the more major characters. I hated him for his whole personality and for what he did and was glad to see him punished. But at the same time he really helped the soap getting some good stuff and I also sort of miss him as a character.

Current status, Spoilers until the Christmas episode: As mentioned, Ringo gets out of prison at the end of November and it seems that he stays out until the trial. Said trial has not yet happened. Ringo's and Easy's foster son Julius is still in the orphanage until the situation gets cleared, but he does visit them in the Christmas episode and, if the cast lists are to be trusted, also in the episode featuring their second wedding day.
And as expected, ruthless Ringo is back with him trying to drive Benedikt into insanity. He does so by first continuing to give him the drugs and then manipulating incidents that make Benedikt believe he had hallucinations. Ringo is successfull in that Benedikt actually checks himself into psychiatry. Easy gets a bad conscience, because he believes that his drugs were responsible for Benedikt's madness, and Ringo confesses to him, what he did.
It is confirmed that Anna Lena Class is returning as the recurring character Ricarda Schätzke and already shooting for Unter uns. Ricarda Schätzke is a prosecutor, so it seems likely that the trial against Ringo and/or Benedikt will happen pretty early in the new year.
It's not 100% certain because she actually is another scheming character who has past rivalries/storylines with several main cast members when she appeared almost regularly a few years back. But her last appearance was quite a while ago, these storylines are finished and the trial is really the most likely scenario for her return.
Also back for around Christmas is Aaron Koszuta as Valentin. This his fourth stint after he left the series, making him the former main cast member with the most guest appearances afterwards. The first time Valentin and his sister Larissa visited their parents, second time he visited for the birth of his baby brother Niklas, third time he appeared for Irene Weigel's funeral and now he's back because of the Benedikt health issues.

Nice to hear that Ringo is back to being bad - normally I would say his drugging and deceit is excessive but Benedikt's crimes against him do give him some real justification. Also pleased to hear that Valentin is returning for a guest stint. I had the impression that Aaron Koszuta had given up acting to open a juice bar or something. Still think that their decision to write him out and not explore his sexuality was a huge missed opportunity. I mean, how can you not want to have him on screen regularly? http://instagram.com/p/CStD8UGKIiI

Aaron Koszuta never gave up acting and is actually comparatively successfull. After his exit from Unter uns he is a main cast member in another series ("Tiere bis unters Dach") and a recurring one in another ("In aller Freundschaft"). "Tiere bis unters Dach" (losely translated "A house full of animals") is a children's series. The title is a play on the German proverb "voll bis unters Dach" meaning that you have a lot of things. In this case, it doesn't mean that the characters have lots of animals, but the main's character's father is a vet, so they basically have different animals each week. Aaron plays the older sister's boyfriend, I think, but I have watched like two episodes and don't know anything about his role. "In aller Freundschaft" (in all friendship) is a mixture of hospital series and weekly Soap. It's the one where Timothy had a guest appearance a while back. Each episode has it's own hospital storyline with guest characters whose plot is finished at the episode's end, but it also has storys about the doctors and nurses personal lifes that continues soap-opera-like from episode to episode. But his juice bar, which Aaron had in addition to his acting stints, became a victim of the pandemic. He had to close it this summer. And I agree that Ringo has a good reason to be evil right now. Especially because it isn't just revenge, though this certainly plays a part as well. He's trying to drive Benedikt to a confession and clear his name and get his son back.

Clip of Ringo trying to drive Benedikt insane: Bad Ringo is always fun. Nice to see him back in action, and with a (relatively) good justification, too. You know what would've driven Benedikt insane? Seducing Valentin over to the gay side. Shame Ringo is a happily married man now, or that would be an ideal revenge - setting Benedikt up to walk in on them having sex.

Current status: Benedikt attacked Valentin with a corkscrew in the episode before Christmas, believing him to be a hallucination. This is of course a result of Ringo's mindgames. Benedikt has checked himself in the psychiatric ward, believing himself to be a danger for those around him. Easy believes, that Benedikt going mad is a result of the potion Easy slipped Benedikt. Because Easy blames himself for Valentin's injury, Ringo confesses the truth to him. They had a quarrel in the Christmas episode, which was interrupted by Julius' visit (who is still in the orphanage). Next week, already seen online: Easy wants Ringo to admit the truth to Benedikt, so that nobody will get injured again. Ringo finally does go to the psychiatrie to visit Benedikt and confess everything. However, Benedikt believes himself to be incapable to continue to be the boss of Huber Bau. Because he wants Huber Bau in capable hands, he wants to give everything to Ringo and tells him this, before Ringo can admit the truth. Benedikt also wants to confess the truth about the tax scam, so that Ringo doesn't have to go to prison and can manage Huber Bau. After this revelation, Ringo keeps silent and convinces Easy to do the same, because now his innocence will finally be proven, and nobody's health will be in danger anymore, since Ringo will stop playing mindgames on Benedikt.
Spoilers for January, details still somewhat unclear. But it seems to be like this: Benedikt indeed writes a confession, which his girlfriend Ute finds. She is shocked, that he lied to her but forgives him (probably because their bond tightened after they went to the schizophrenic scare together). After leaving the psychiatric ward, he actually wants to kill himself, because he is afraid to end up like his schizophrenic grandfather. Somehow Ringo finds out and stops him from commiting suicide by admitting his scheme. After this, Benedikt is hellbend to send Ringo to prison and destroys the confession.*
Stuff after this is even more vague, but somehow a week later Ringo finds a prove for Benedikt's guilt. He seems to make a deal with the prosecution and get off without punishment. However, somehow Ringo has either the opportunity or an idea to get Benedikt off the hook as well and either blackmails him or at least demands a requirement that Benedikt is unwilling to fulfill.
No more details are known, but the storyline definitely seems to lead to it's conclusion, at least regarding the legal troubles for Ringo. Because in February is a so called event week, where a bunch of characters are going to a holiday journey, get lured into a trap and have to run for their lives. And Ringo is a part of this storyline, and he wouldn't be allowed to leave town, if he were still under suspicion.
*This is just speculation, but I think he didn't send the written down confession to the police earlier, because he wanted to end his life instead of going to prison and counted on someone, probably Ute, to give it to the police after his death.

Well, that spiralled out of control (predictably). Gotta say, considering how much of a jerk Benedikt has been since day one, I was really wishing there'd be lasting consequences for him - at least the loss of his company. Aaron Koszuta still seems to be filming at UU, is this just a very long guest stint or is Valentin back for good?

They have a six week winter break between December 10th and the end of January. Aaron is gone again, I think. Benedikt might very well lose the company to Ringo. It might be the demand, that Ringo is making. Though this is just speculation, but I can't think of many other things that Ringo would demand from Benedikt and Benedikt is unwilling to fulfill.

Current status, including spoilers: Ringo finds the criminal who worked together with Benedikt in the Huber Bau tax scams. Since said criminal was involved in many tax scams, she's a big fish, and Ringo delivers her to the prosecution, making a deal and getting off without punishment himself. He has to make a decision to either let Benedikt go to prison or to include him in his deal with the prosecution and get him off without punishment as well. He seizes his chance to blackmail Benedikt: Either Benedikt gives 50% of Huber Bau to Ringo, or he goes to prison.
Here's a surprising and IMO pretty interesting plot twist: Benedikt's grandfather made a condition, that Huber Bau has to stay in the family forever, so Benedikt literally cannot give the 50% to Ringo. Ringo is only taken back for a few seconds, though, and then demands for Benedikt to adopt him, so that Ringo can possess parts of Huber Bau. This is what happenend in the TV or the TVNow episodes, the upcoming parts are spoilers and a bit less clear, but putting together the information we have, the following will happen until the end of february:
Easy is not happy to be related to Benedikt soon. There's a row between him and Ringo; and Easy moves back into the flatshare.
Benedikt somehow manages to trick Ringo a bit and doesn't have to give in to the whole blackmail, but he generally still has to agree with most of Ringo's conditions and Ringo will be adopted by Benedikt and gets a share of Huber Bau.
Their friends try to reunite Ringo and Easy. But the attempt leads to an even bigger quarrell, that ends with Ringo accompanying Paco and a few other characters on a short holiday.
The holidays turns out to be a trap set up by Fiona Jäger, the no less psychopathic daughter of Unter uns psycho-villain Rolf Jäger (and she's also a former partner in crime of earlier Ringo). Fiona seems to believe that the residents of Schillerallee are responsible for Rolf's disappearment and death. A death that is at least ambigous, because last time we saw Rolf he was very much alive but locked in a container and shipped to Thailand by Benedikt.
Fiona wants to take her revenge and Ringo gets severely injured. There also seems to be a death involved with this storyline. It's not made clear by the spoilers who it is, but by process of elimination it seems to be Fiona herself. Easy and Ringo make up in hospital. And in order for not having the adoption delayed, Ringo makes sure that it gets official while he's still in hospital.
Also, both Easy and Ringo will become involved as side players in a storyline involving the family of Chris Weigel, in which they take care of Chris' teenage son Matteo for a short while, after Matteo moves out of his family's home after learning that his parents lied to him during his whole life. In addition, after winter break the shooting for the new season has begun on Monday, and in addition to Lars Steinhöfel and Timothy Boldt, Paul Eilert, who plays their foster son Julius, is back on set. So this storyline seems finally to be resolved. Julius was taken back to the orphanage in November after Ringo got arrested because of the tax scam. By the way, there are clips of the current Ringy storylines on tumblr, though most of them without translation. But I hope these summaries may help you a bit understanding what's going on.

He seems to be a really difficult person. At first he just seemed odd, but now he has become pretty unpleasant. He might have destroyed any chances of a possible further TV career for good.
