hello i just have a small question to all of you who saw "les chansons d'amour"... I saw the trailer when i was in england and unfortunately we can't see it here in germany because they won't play it in the cinema. now i'm thinking about getting the film from the uk. but i'm a little bit unsure because all the reviews i read were pretty bad. so i'm not sure if it's worth the effort.. could somebody please tell me if the reviews are right? is it really boring? maybe our taste is a little bit different to the nomal mainstream taste.. ;D thank you..

Heartbreak - This film is definitely worth purchasing. When I initially saw this film, back in September 2007, the singing shocked me. I had no idea that it was a musical, because of the director's (Christopher Honore) previous films (Ma Mere, Tout Contre Leo, Dans Paris, Les Clan) I never expected something so heartwarmingly charming and romantic as this film definitely IS.
The film is just so FRENCH, that I couldn't help but fall in love with it.

I have seen it now... it's worthy... I haven't understand all the words (mon français n'est pas si bon)... but love dont need any word to be understood. It's a really nice film.

Louis Garrel - Better In Threes www.premiere.com/features/4471/louis-garrel-better-in-threes.htmlThe social message of the film is important to Garrel and he does not shy away from expressing that a more positive portrayal of homosexuality on screen is needed: "Because if I were gay, [and] I'm not gay yet — maybe one day — but if I were gay, I'd like to see movies where homosexuality isn't always a problem." Asked what he thought the message of the film is, Garrel's response is nothing if not romantic: "I was reading a book of Jewish proverbs and we found this little phrase that we put in the movie. 'Love me less but love me long.' I mean that's a perfect conclusion, no?"

Oh, I need to talk about this movie again, as I just saw it again. Really good, and not just the two guys either. The song by Chiara Mastroianni at the "Parc de la pepiniere" was perfect. Such a hauntingly simple expression of melancholy and loneliness after a loved one's departure, and aching resignation at how easily life keeps going after that departure. Great job by Chiara (who looked so much like her mother in that scene). I also couldn't stop singing "Si tard" as well, which is why I watched the movie again. Really, really good acting & singing blend in that movie to show different ways of dealing with love and loss.

Okay, it's almost midnight on a Friday night and I'm home alone, drinking a bottle of Merlot and I just thought about checking into this thread. Hmm. Sad. Well, someone created a fan video for the film, using a song from it. Here's the link. Enjoy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD6qjl-11qQ

Just found a link to the press section of the film company that produced "Love Songs". If you download the "Dossier de presse" from this page, it is a 21 page PDF file which has interviews with all the stars, the director, and the musical arranger. www.bacfilms.com/presse/chansonsdamour/Enjoy!

I was quite affected by this French musical movie. I don't know why. I didn't feel strongly after watching it the first time, but the more I think about the story, the more I feel affected by it. It's been quite sometime since a movie struck me that deeply. The loss of a loved one, the whole mourning process, the frightening feeling of being alone, and the feeling of being afraid to be in love again. It kinda made me a little emotional about it. I totally loved the last scene of the movie (and the song is really good). I love the lyrics. And the ending dialogue sent chills down my back coz it's quite haunting.
Aime-moi moins mais aime-moi longtemps
Love me less, but love me a long time
Here's the last scene:
And I almost forget to add this. Gregoire (ie. Erwann) is so adorable. He really got this really boyish charm. Very cute. And Louis is not your typical good-looking guy but I feel that he is very charismatic and sometimes reminds me of "Twilight" lead actor.
