I wanted to get all of your opinion on this please keep your comments appropriate there is no right or wrong answer here.But do you believe that Will and Sonny are the US Version of Christian and Olli?

Being on US daytime, I tend to say no but I think if DOOL does it right, they could be good in their own right and rank up there with Nuke and Kish.

Or, LuRe   It does depend with time, but IF the audience is willing to just let themselves be patient, because we're still dealing with fictional gay characters being shown on US DAYTIME, then maybe everyone will be pleased with what DOOL does with those characters and their pairing. |

I hope not, Chrolli had a really good first year, since then all went downhill (to the dreadful current storyline).
I think, a year after the end of Nuke, Lure and Kish, there's a part of the viewers who crave for a good gay storyline. Everybody said that the rythym of this show is slow, and that could be great for the storyline. If they take the time to build it, and avoid a couple of cliches, this could be great

I don't need for the pairing to be the next "anything". It's not a contest IMO. Just be good on its own merit. That's all I ask for.

Also this is a US soap, hardly comparable to the way soaps are produced in Germany That doesn't mean I think German soaps are better than US soaps because I don't. I just think they are very different animals. I appreciate both formulas (as it were) ;D I think German soaps are written for a German audience and US soaps are written for a US audience and never the twain shall meet.  Also, we have to consider the fact that the majority of the audience of DOOL will have never seen a German soap and neither will the producers, writers, or showrunners so there is really no basis for comparison. |

I'm already loving Sonny as an individual and I pray that the writers of DAYS do justice to Will's coming of age/out story.
As for them being the next anything...I just want a believable and good story and I love the fact that Sonny is out and very comfortable in his own skin.

Can Will & Sonny be the next Christian & Olli? Thats big ?? I think they could be the next big couple like NuKe,Kish,LuRe.If the writing team can write a good storyline for them and the characters aren't backburned .I want to see them more and interactive with each other so we can see if they have chemistry or not. I read that it will go slow Will coming out story i do like that and its not being rushed.But i hope we see other popular couple to get excited for.  |

I don't wanna them be the next Chrolli or whatever i want them be unique in their own way and i just can't compare US soaps and European, they're too different, but it would be great if WilSon would be at least partly charming as Kish, passionate as LuRe and adorable as Nuke (in the earlier time) |

i'm still a bit hesitant just because i had just fallen in love with Freddie Smith being Marco on 90210 and was a big fan of Marco/Teddy. but from the clips i've seen of him playing Sonny so far, i'm pretty excited and have a good feeling!I think they could be the next Nuke (only with a HAPPY ending!!!)

Personally, just with Sonny alone, they could imo be better than Nuke.
If they have the chemistry, the story, and if Will isn't annoying I say BRING IT!

US daytime shows have never been able to "commit" to a gay relationship to the extent that can be accomplished in Europe. Even when there is chemistry, they hold short. They had a chance with Luke & Noah and with Kyle and Fish, but the sponsors would not allow either to progress, irrespective of audience commitment. Remember, there are only 2 US daytime soaps in existence currently. There have been some internet attempts, but not successful. As long as daytime sponsors include the likes of Procter and Gamble, they will continue to take a conservative approach to the topic. Also, not so sure the writing staff of US soaps are as talented as those in Europe. Just an opinion, based upon limited soap viewing.....

Days, Y&R, GH and B&B. GH will probably be cut soon by ABC. |

I just don't think any couple will ever measure up to Chrolli's stoyline as a whole. Will and Sonny will likely be my favorite gay daytime US couple (out of LuRe, Nuke, and KISH), but Chrolli's storyline is the epitome of romance. I feel like VL gave me everything I could have ever wanted/imagined for a gay storyline. We get constant kisses, love scenes, fights, makeups, and the most realistic portrayal of a gay couple I've seen on television. Each period of the relationship was done so nicely, and the secondary characters are awesome. I mean, they even got married!?!?! Who could really ask for more at this point.

I think it is possible but Germany and the United States are so different.
In Germany, the writers treated Christian and Oliver like a real couple. On VL I was surprised to see the sex scenes in the bed the touching, kissing, interaction. VL did an amazing job I`ve never seen gay love presented with such romance. On the American soap Queer as Folk I felt like the sex was dirty and raunchy there wasn`t any romance.
American culture is too conservative in relation to homosexuality. In Canada, on Degrassi gay characters have been on Canadian television for a long time. DOOL was the last American soap to have gay characters. There just seems to me to be a fear or trepidation from the DOOL executive producers to push the Will and Sonny storyline forward. I would love to see Will and Sonny together and get to kiss and have sex. Iwould do cart wheels if one day the DOOL producers allowed Sonny and Will to have a sex scene in bed together. But DOOL seems to be trying to court a conservative audience.
