“I’m not so sure we need Sonny. I can make a case for Will because they saddled him with a child and a marriage at a very young age, so there’s storyline potential for a character who realizes he doesn’t want that stuff right now/ But Sonny… I don’t see any potential for a character that’s so judgmental and acts older than Doug and Julie.” I never understood this Sonny hate fans have. He makes me angry sometimes but the same goes for Will too. At the end of the day, I still love them. Sonny isn't like Will or Leo and we can't expect him to be. That also doesn't mean he doesn't have potential and isn't an interesting character to watch. Sonny is judgmental and acts old sometimes but that's great because they're his flaws. Even thought I don't understand why being old is considered a flaw? Maybe because fans want chaos that causes drama? If we want to add more he kinda has: Hero Complex; he always wants to be the helpful one in a situation. No matter the situation or the odds, he want to be the one that handles it and saves the day. Workaholic; he works at the cost of his needs and wants, like not spending time with his family. Right now he's unemployed and he himself said he feels weird without a job because he always had one .
Anger Issues; he usually looks like he's calm but he's actually not. He keeps bottling things up all the time and recently we saw him slip when his mother died and how he yelled at Maggie or when Gabi almost ended up in prison again.
A good writer would be able to explore and execute him properly but now I'm sad we probably will never get it. |

There may yet be a limited reason for not moving this show to Gone but Not Forgotten. Peacock (the NBC streaming service) has just announced a five-episode spin-off called Beyond Salem, which will include many familiar faces in new locations including a visit by Chad DiMera to old friends in Phoenix. Fans may recall that is where Will and Sonny now reside with their daughter and Sonny's brothers. I should note that Wilson probably want make their first scenes until March.
