I just leaned this season of Malhação got nominated for an International Emmy Awards in the 'Kids' branch (presented by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences honoring outstanding children's TV programming outside the USA)
It is nominated in the Best Series category
It's nice to see the first season to featured a prominent gay storyline getting this kind of honor!
The winners will be announced in March 2020

Sophia has uploaded part 15! THE KISS Loving the storyline. Is nothing groundbreaking and has all the clichés you would expect, but still, I love their chemistry

Guga and Serginho's first kiss happened last week. I'm a bit behind on this season, so I need to catch up and see what's going on with their storyline

It's good that Guga is well-integrated into the main story but does he have a love life of his own? Well... most of the main characters haven't get there yet. Only Anjinha has an actual relationship and love storyline. Jaqueline has a boyfriend who is really secondary on her storyline (I think she'll eventually get together with Thiago). Guga, Thiago, Rita and Raíssa have no love life yet, but we are getting hints of where each storyline will lead in the romance department. Right now, Guga and Rita are pretending to be a couple... she realized he's gay (probably the only one who knows apart from Serginho) and is helping him getting his parents and friends off his back about his break-up with long-time girlfriend Meg. Some characters have pointed out how weird their relationship is as they barely show any sort of affection or PDA, but I don't think anyone suspect he's gay apart from Serginho's brother, who doesn't like Guga and Serginho's friendship as he sense there's a little spark there and he doesn't accept his brother's sexuality.

The new season looks great so far. It's actually much better the last one overall. The entire cast is very likeable and Guga has been heavily featured (which is pretty great). I've read that ratings are up and social media response is also much stronger. Excited for what's to come!

I know, I was just trying to be funny lol And yep, the days of over-sexualized Malhação are definitely over... the show shifted their focus from just love relationships and now are more focused on social discussion and social issues. The show was SUPER controversial when it premiered in the 90s. I was a kid, but I remember being "in love" with the lead actor at the time (I even bought the show's soundtrack just to look at his face at the cover art lol) Are you familiar with the old-days Malhação? Where are you from? I'm from the UK. I learned of Malhacao because there were these screencaps of a SUPER hot actor from a few seasons ago floating around on the internet. I've noticed that the sexual/nudity content has been toned down over the years (much to my disappointment). I assumed Brazilian society was becoming more conservative/puritanical and the local equivalent of One Million Moms had complained about nudity being shown in a teen soap. It didn't occur to me that they had toned it down because they wanted to be taken seriously as a show that explores social issues. But I suppose it makes sense because over here Hollyoaks is doing the same thing too. It used to be a great soap for eye candy but these days you're lucky if there's even one shirtless scene a month LOL. I don't understand why they think social issues and eye candy can't both co-exist on the same soap. That's a good question. I defintiely think that they want the show to be taken seriously (which was NOT the case at all in the past). For a long time, Malhação was written and produced by the same people and featured more sex and (partial) nudity. Then, they decided that each season would have a different creative team, and that's when they shifted from all the sexy stuff and started taking a more serious approach, tackling more socially conscious storylines. Of course that they still do all the soapy drama, but I feel like they went to a more "didactic" path (especially since the show started attracting a much younger audience). No wonder they only now started adding LGBTQ storylines/characters as well as more cast members of color (which is great for representation). I mean, last season got a International Emmy nomination, so I guess it's working for them in the "credibility" department LOL

I think they had gay characters in previous seasons. There was an article about this show in a spanish newspaper about the fact that they touch the theme of sexual abuse on soccer edit: Ok, i just watch that this show has other thread for previous season Yep, they have a gay couple this season, but they are not protagonists. From what I understood, Guga will be one of the main characters on this new season.

João Pedro Oliveira (Serginho)

'Malhação: Toda Forma de Amar' will have first gay protagonist of the series
In an important step toward progress, the new season of Malhação, titled "Toda Forma de Amor" ("Every Form of Love"), will have a gay character among its protagonists.
Guga (Pedro Alves) is that kind of friend that everyone would like to have. From childhood, he cultivates a very close friendship with Philippe (Peter Novaes) and Beto (John Buckley), but has never talked to them about the subject that most afflicts him internally. Cheerful and always taking care of other people, he comes to the realization that he needs to pay more attention to himself. The boy has just broken up with Meg (Giulia Bertolli), someone he only sees as a friend, and doesn't correspond the interest of the young women he meets in college or at parties. Gradually, Guga begins to question his sexual orientation. Sharing his struggles with his family is extremely difficult. Being from an upper middle class family, he lives in a luxury apartment in Ipanema and has a family that is constantly worried about their own image. His father, Max (Roberto), an entrepreneur that cultivates a 'bon vivant' lifestyle, is the kind that prides himself on having a handsome son, who attracts women's interest. In his vision, Guga ended up with Meg to "enjoy life" as he did when he was young. His mom, Regina (Karine Teles), on the other hand, is able to see through the behavior of her son, to whom she's very attached to. On the Internet, Guga meets Serginho (João Pedro Oliveira), a young men from a low-income family, who works in a store in Ipanema and lives in poor suburb of Duque de Caxias with his brother Camelo (Ronald Sotto) and his grandmother Margarida (Ana Miranda). The two begin to talk and arrange a meeting to get to know each other better. It's precisely on that day, when he's returning home, that Guga enters a van that joins his destiny to the other protagonists: young Rita (Alanis Guillen), Raíssa (Dora de Assis), Thiago (Danilo Maia), Anjinha (Caroline Dallarosa) and Jaqueline (Gabz). Together, they witness a crime and with the union of the group due to the unfolding of the case, Guga becomes very close to Rita, who will gradually become his new best friend and 'counselor' on his journey of discovery. "What moves Guga is love. He's the kind of person who gets on well with everyone, is a good friend, a good son. When he realizes that his feelings for Meg is just friendship, he starts a search to understand himself, his love, and this will be a difficult path, especially when facing the prejudice of the people closest to him", says Pedro Alves, happy with his debut on TV. ‘Malhação: Toda Forma de Amar’ will bring many kinds of 'love stories': couples, parents and children, siblings or a group of friends. In the main plot, a group of young people will witness a crime, having their lives radically altered by the event. Scheduled to debut on April 16, the season is written by Emanuel Jacobina.

My grasp of Portuguese is pretty limited, so I am having trouble finding information on him - Giovanni is 23 years old right? Also Sofia updated English subtitles for part 65 and uploaded part 66 (currently without subtitles): Yep, Giovanni is 23 and Pedro (who plays Michael) is 19

Someone has been working out I don't think he's just started working out - he's had those abs for a while now, if you scroll further down his Instagram feed. But yes he is very yummy. Too bad he is rarely shirtless on Malhacao (to say nothing of the good old days when Malhacao used to even have nudity). I know, I was just trying to be funny lol And yep, the days of over-sexualized Malhação are definitely over... the show shifted their focus from just love relationships and now are more focused on social discussion and social issues. Malhação: Vidas Brasileiras is coming to an end in April and actress Gorete Milagres (who guest starred as Michael's mom) posted a picture on her instagram that might give a spoiler for #Santiel's storyline... cute!

So, I just finished watching the Marti/Nico season of SKAM ITALIA and I don't know if it's because my expectations were low after seeing bad comments about it here (lol), but I really ended up loving it! Even though the story is basically the same as the original, I felt like the characters had their own identity and were so uniquely Italian that it made the whole show more enjoyable to me. I'm half Italian, so I definitely liked and connected more with a lot of the Italian characters compared to the original show (but maybe I'm biased lol). I also liked the few changes that they added to the show.
I'm glad I gave it a chance. I'll start watching SKAM FRANCE soon... excited about it!
