I think the mustache makes the character look like a parody. Unfortunately so did a lot of his early screentime, to the point where I can't really invest in the character.

If the actor lost the mustache and dialed it back a little bit (less psychotic twitching, please!), I'd be more invested in the character. So far, Keiron's carrying the storyline (for me, at least)--which is fine, since he's incredible. But it would be better if Brendan weren't a caricature.

gaysoapfan, carld2 Have to say I'm the opposite, I'm digging both of the guys performances in this storyline. I think they act off each other very, very well. I'm not finding him to be a "caricature" in this particular story. Sure, Emmett was over the top pre-storyline, but I found it entertaining. I'll wager the powers that be wanted him to be that way. Most of the other characters on H'Oaks are either a bit OTT, (Mercedes, Jackie, and Carmel) or deadly boring in my opinion, so give me a bit of flash I say. ;D As far as the mustache goes, eh...the actor grew it especially for this role so I doubt he's going to shave it off all of a sudden. So I'm not going to fret about something that won't change.

I just finished watching today's clip. Ste and Amy are amazing together. So there are really no clips of their backstory anywhere online? I'd love to see it!

Huh, some actual sweet moments between them. Loved Amy trying to get the dirt from Ste. "Thank God. I thought you were seeing some right weirdo." ;D Of course, that "Oh. My. God." look at the end was priceless, too. ;D As for Brendan's mustache... I don't care for it, personally. It makes him look kind of stereotypically sleazy . It fits the character, though. Edit: grammar

There are some complete Hollyoaks episodes on Youtube, including some with Amy and Ste, but no specific vids for the two. :< I've spent a lot of time searching for a few scenes, I didn't save them so I have no idea which... There is a clip from the episode where Ste cut Amy's hair, specifically, and in the complete episodes I've seen ones including the soup incident.
As for the moustache... Pft. I don't care either way. I don't care how they look as long as their acting's good. And for me, the two are doing it well enough for me to invest in the storyline.

Yes, Amy "i can't believe it" look at the end of the episode it was funny. I hope she survives to the fire, because i like her interactions with Ste (even if she leaves the show, she could come back in the future)

I'm starting to think maybe they won't kill her, but she'll just leave town with the kids after the fire. If Amy were to die that would leave Ste alone with his kids and I think he'd totally focus on them and that wouldn't leave any time for Brendan. But if she left town and took the kids with her he'd just be alone and vulnerable and Brendan would take advantage of that.

If we could decide who we loved, it would be much simpler, but less magical.

Brendan really if off his rocker about letting anyone know he's a friend of Dorothy. I know there is a strong pull, but Ste needs to get far away from Brendan.

I was absolutely cackling like a witch during the scene between Amy and Brendan. I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. It was AMAZING! ;D ;D And I don't know...I'm pretty surprised that the show is having Brendan only give Ste one punch each time. I think it would be more horrific to have Brendan punch him a few times. And no, I'm not a sadist, I"m saying this froma purely dramatic point of view. Anyhow..must rewatch Amy/Brendan scene again! ;D

Thanks Devillies, Just saw it.This episode broke my heart to pieces.I am really going to miss Amy when she leaves this month. She's such a good friend to Ste.She is really trying to help and support Ste.Brendan is such a crazy, lunatic, maniac that is playing games with Ste.I mean first his pushing Ste away then grabbing him to stay he doesn't now what the hell he wants. But what pissed me off was when he told Ste you haven't given a reason to hit you or have you.Poor Ste his so scared of Brendan he doesn't want to make Brendan mad because he thinks Brendan will hit him.Going out with Rae will it make it better or worse.Brendan going to be jealous seeing them together he never liked Rae with Ste.I feel so sad for Ste i just want to give him and hug to protect him.He made me cry when he was crying in the last scene.

Argh! What is this hold that Brendan has on Ste? This is hard to watch sometimes; I want to jump through the screen and knock him about .

I don't get Ste it seemed like he was finally coming around accepting that Brendan was abusing him and it was wrong and it wasn't his fault. So i was happy when he was quiting his job so he wouldn't be around Brendan but. Then thats when things take turn for the worst.Ste and Brendan have a talk.Brendan changes everything around saying its not abuse its not the same its okay for guys to hit each other.Ste is okay with it.Then Brendan goes to threated Amy to shut her mouth or something will happen to her.Um hello Ste is it okay for Brendan to threated your family what are you going to do about that accept it .

The thing about abusers of all kinds is that they are persuasive. When Ste sits and talks it out rationally with Amy he sees things clearly. But when he gets with Brendan, everything changes, because Brendan knows how to twist things around. When Ste tells Brendan about how he used to abuse Amy and that Brendan is doing the same thing to him. The first thing Brendan does is tell Ste that he’s never hit a woman and he never would. In that moment whatever strength Ste had completely and utterly abandons him. Because in that moment Brendan has made himself better than Ste. Then he goes on to say that guys hit guys when they step out of line, “I’m not saying its right, I’m just saying that’s how it is.”
Brendan uses Ste’s attraction to him, his fear of him and Ste’s low self esteemed against him. What keeps most abuse victims coming back are the moments when the abuser is apologetic, and sweet and tender. Where they would do anything, say anything to make it all better. Everything you want to hear they tell you. How things are going to be different. How they don’t want to have to keep doing these things, “if only”. The fact that when Ste stayed away after the first his, Brendan came looking for him and was for the most part sweet and affectionate even going to far as to invite Ste back to his.
It’s vicious cycle that is so hard to pull yourself out of. Especially when on some level you feel like you deserve it. And contrary to what Ste told Amy, I do think part of the reason he doesn’t seem to be able to put that much needed distance between him and Brendan is that on some level he thinks he’s getting what he deserves for what he did to Amy.
