I haven't perused many reviews, but Thomas' story seemed to have gotten mixed reviews, although nothing too negative, aside from some stans, and fandom is generally negative (I'm guilty of that myself) for any show or film, so who knows. IGN said it was the best part of the film. Giving away the plot here: Thomas learns his former love, Richard, is marrying a woman. As suggested in the trailer, Thomas strikes up a bond with the matinee idol, Guy, played by Dominic West. There is no kissing (big shock), but Guy is clearly very into Thomas, and tells Thomas how much he needs a "wife." Thomas has to maintain his decorum, but gives him some emotional support over his worries about the arrival of talking pictures. When filming wraps, Guy asks Thomas to return to Hollywood with him, where he can be his "butler." After some thought, Thomas decides to take the risk and leave with him.
