Interesting to see how much they will keep the same and how much they will change. I'm going to need subs though to understand this Schweizerdeutsch, I only get like 20% of it. But yeah the twins definitely look cute.

This is so weird... and interesting. I watched the first episode and it's like an exact copy of the first episode of SpangaS. But I think eventually they will start writing their own stories. And I saw that the Swiss Flip has the same jacket as the Dutch Flip. In the article it says that both the Dutch and the Swiss version are filmed in the same school building in Amsterdam. I don't recognize this building, but on the Dutch version they're moving to a new building next season so I guess this is that building. But like Philippien, I would need subtitles to follow this. Especially if they eventually start writing their own stories.

Yes a few things are filmed in Amsterdam on the same sets, but not the school, I have read in a article the school is in the near from Zurich. But I'm not sure. And exactly I have reconize the same jacket. Is the first daily Soap in the history of the Swiss TV Productions. So I hope this will be not a flop. :-) And of course I hope Flip and Tobias have their own stories soon.

My German isn't what it used to be, but I thought this meant that all the location scenes were filmed in Wettingen but the rest of the scenes in a school in Amsterdam. Maybe the info in the article is incorrect? I guess we'll find out soon enough when we see the new building on the Dutch version. It would be great if this was going to be a hit. The show is VERY popular over here, so maybe the same will happen in Switzerland. Let us know if you find out anything about it's popularity.

Yes you have right, the article says the school building is in amsterdam. I have totally forget. Here in Glanz und Gloria tv magazine, was last week, ( a week before the soap starts) a report of Best Fiends. Glanz und Gloria Magazine visit the Set of Best Friends and speak with the actors about the Serie. Here you can watch it in the clip: www.zambo.ch/Start/Archiv/2010/08/27/Best-Friends/Glitzernder-Einblick

Hi everyone I guess this is a good point for me to finally start posting, and not just reading The school building does look different because all the outdoor scenes were filmed in Switzerland, whereas for the indoor scenes they used the original sets in Amsterdam. So the classrooms, hallways, canteen, the Vonlanthen(=van Hamel) kitchen, ... will be the same, but the outsides are (sometimes completely) different. Just something I caught up in several articles/interviews with the twin actors: apparently, they got to meet their respective actor colleagues. Now Roshan (playing Flip) mentioned that the dutch actor had warned him, that he, after the coming out of his character, got some homophobic comments on the streets. Roshan's reaction to that was that in the beginning he was a little worried but still, he couldn't really imagine something like that happening in Switzerland. I so hope he's right about that . Oh, and another thing: in all the articles, it's always mentioned that Roshan would play the part of Flip (and the picture captions are written like that). But in the end credits, Sanjiv is credited as Flip and Roshan as Tobias. I don't really know what to make of that

I think homophobia happens everywhere. Even in the most liberal countries. Jasper Gottlieb (Flip) told that story in an interview on TV. He turned to the camera and said that discrimination of gays is ridiculous. I remember that his brother Marius was very supportive.

Hey I'm working on translations... Just bare with me, this is the first time I'm trying to do this, so, I'm still very slow, and there are gonna be mistakes Plus, I can't promise you anything in terms of form (transcripts or subtitled videos), regularity or if I even find the time to do all the important stuff from upcoming episodes, sometimes my life is just too busy , but I'll give it a try. here we go, Episode 00 (with english subtitles, hopefully) is up: www.dailymotion.com/video/xep2fv_bf-ep-00_schoolI didn't cut this one down, because it introduces all the main students. Edit:Find this and a lot more subtitled clips at www.youtube.com/user/swizzbestfriends

It's always so frustrating to find new shows to watch but being unable to understand them, so thank you very, very much for the subs, Delia.
I must say I'm quite intrigued by the ethnicity of the actors playing the twins. There are plenty of Indians where I live (London) and they are often featured on British TV, but this is the first time I'm seeing them in European programming, although admittedly the only European programmes I watch are those featured on this site.
Oh, and the guy playing Beni is cute. All the actors appear to be older than their Dutch counterparts so I can lust away with a clear conscience ;D

LOL, the Dutch actors are all older than 18 as well, so you can lust at them with a clear conscience as well. ;D The twins are 21. "Fay", "Luxor" and "Irmak" are also 21. Thanks for subtitling. I'll check the video's out. Right now I'm busy with the subtitles for the Dutch version.

justinate: I don't think the ethnicity was a conscious decision, those two were simply the best at the casting . Beni's storyline is quite set apart from the twins (they're in different years). So he's not included in the cut (so far...). If you want to watch him, go to the official page www.zambo.ch/Sendungen/Best-Friendsor to the SF Videoportal www.videoportal.sf.tv/sendung?id=c46e6247-bbb0-0001-2769-9e0bada04f90(in the calendar, you can find previous episodes). GTSTfanMark: But still, the Swiss actors are older now than the dutch actors were when they started with the series, or am I wrong here? The youngest in the main cast is Basil Eidenbenz playing Lukas (=Luxor), 17 (if the article is right ...). The others are from 19 to 23. Oh, yeah, I don't want to keep you from subtitling. Although I can guess a lot in the Dutch originals, subs sure make it a lot easier to understand ;D.

They do seem to be older, but they're still over 18 so lusting after them shouldn't be a problem for Justinate. ;D
Although some of the actors in the Dutch version are pretty old too. Tim Murck playing Barry (Beni) is 28 now. He was 25 when the show started. The actress playing Annabella is 25 right now. The actress playing Marjana is 25 as well and pregnant in real life. It's also interesting that the actress playing Avalanche is a year younger than the twins in real life.
I believe the storyline about the gay teacher comes up pretty soon. The Mick/Flip storyline was more towards the end of the season, I think. It's going to be interesting to see if they keep using the same scripts or if there are going to be big differences between the two shows.

Hey everybody I've got some good news! Swizzly and I decided to work together, to bring you subtitled videos (even when my holidays are over...) with the interesting story lines. Swizzly is working her editing and subtitling magic, while I give my best at translating. We're currently working on setting everything up and doing some more translations. Once we've got our home, we'll let you know where you can follow us. GTSTfanMark: I read in one of your clip descriptions that Flip/Mick was sometime during episodes 101-150. So far, SF has only filmed around 50 episodes. But still, in almost every article with the actors, they talk already about that topic. So, my interpretation of this would be that either they plan on shooting more pretty soon, or they'll start pulling certain story lines more to the beginning. But so far, the episodes are pretty much identical.

I'm looking forward to how they will do the gay-SL. I really have a problem to make out who is Tobi and who is Flip. It's much easier in the dutch original. And I like Lukas.

Backstage report on Best Friends, from "Glanz & Gloria", is online: www.dailymotion.com/video/xeqaf0_bf-g-g-set-visit_school(still in my old channel...). No twins, but lot's of Beni ;D , right justinate? @lightness: Tobi has his hair standing up, Flip has his fringes down on his front. Hope that helps, that's the way I keep them apart, anyway Edit:Find this and a lot more subtitled clips at www.youtube.com/user/swizzbestfriends2nd Edit:Now with better sound quality:

Oh my god, I was just laughing my ass off... At the end of today's episode, they included a scene with all four twins!!! And Marius Gottlieb (Dutch Tobias) even got to say something (well, ok, one word...) in swiss german That was amazing... Some snapshots (crap quality, sorry): They had Flip opposite Flip and Tobi opposite Tobi. And Jasper had to match Roshan's (longer) hair ;D, oh dear...
