Thanks for finding the article, Kiia! It tickles me so much to think of Dennis bouncing home and dragging his husband over to watch him on TV.

Awesome find, Kiia, thanks for sharing!! quick translation: Mr. & Mr. Grabosch chat about married life One of them's a German soap star, the other one's a British psychologist. "Alles was zählt" star Dennis Grabosch (31) and Brent Magee (43) have been married for two years. In this interview, they talk about their lives as a married couple between London and Cologne, between soap and daily life. "When Dennis comes home at night, he almost only talks about AWZ or forces me to watch the show with him. I give him a five minute window by now," Brent snarks about his famous husband. The two of them tied the knot in London two years ago. Even back then, Dennis' soap career interfered with their romance, as their honeymoon had to be cancelled due to shooting schedules. "To get over the disappointment, Brent defiantly took my credit card for a shopping spree on King's Road!" Like in any good marriage, squabbles about household chores are unavoidable: "It's a constant disappointment how utterly Dennis fails as a housewife [er... househusband? lol]. He can't cook, clean, iron, or do the groceries - he's useless!" Life with a soap actor has its downsides, leading Brent to a resigned realisation: "Oh my God, I'm in love with a German soapstar!"

Finally, here are all the English subs for last week's "Lovechat" with Dennis, Igor, Silvia, and Sam. It's not fair -- shouldn't they be petty or egotistical or just plain boring? Instead they're witty and engaging and just plain adorable. Enjoy!
Part 1:
Part 2:
Part 3:
Part 4: (Note -- contains spoilers about upcoming cast change.

Lilith, all I can say is WOW!!! I never expected a translation of the chat so soon. I would have happily waited for ages as I'm sure an interview of this length and with multiple people talking could not be easy to tackle. Thank you so much to you and the other EKP girls for taking the time to do this and so many other videos. It really really means a lot. Danke!!!

I haven't seen these, Gabi -- thanks so much! I just took a peek at the Unter Uns ones (since his performance there supposedly made him cringe so much *g*) and the clothes they've got him in did him no favours, poor thing! Cowhide vest? Yachting jacket? No cookies for Costume! But my favourite ones so far are baby!Dennis and baby!Stephen Dürr in ep402. Awwwww! This is going to be a fun site to explore!!

New Video of the Gays of our Lives - The International Event, made by visitor9627, thank you so much. Unfortunately Charlie David and Alexander Becht are not attending due to scheduling conflicts, this message came in a few days ago. We are looking for replacements. However! We are confident that the event will be just as awesome. So you should still plan on going.

We'd love to, but planning (and promoting this to the EKP contingent) would be easier if some dates were shared. I understand why you'd want to keep the details secret, but the date's kind of important. A lot of the audience might be from North America, but some fans will hopefully be coming from around the world (*waves at Aldi*) and others need to request time off. March really isn't that far away when you have to plan like that.

Annika posted a very, very interesting interview she found on the f*ghags.de message board. It's not new, but was published August/September 2009 and features Dennis and Daniel Aichinger. As one would expect they are both entertaining, clever and witty and even bring some light to the darkness that was Dr. Hase... Sadly it's in German only and I really don't have time to translate anything at the moment because I've got a crazy workload at school, but maybe someone feels like summarizing or translating or otherwise at least the German speakers will enjoy it... Punkt. Translation, if anyone still cares about Dr. Hase *cuddles*:
Naked at the pool
Actors Dennis Grabosch and Daniel Aichinger talk about their gay storyline in the RTL soap "Alles was zählt"
It's lunch break at the set of "Alles was zählt" (AWZ) in Cologne-Ossendorf. Daniel Aichinger plays Axel Schwarz, the cold controller, and Dennis Grabosch plays Roman Wild, the gay figure skater. The two actors took the time for an interview in the lunch room to talk about their characters' relationship.
Daniel, could you briefly explain why Axel suddenly has so much to do with Roman? DA: Roman saved Axel's life after he was accidentally electrocuted. After that, Axel, who is usually emotionally cold, begins to wonder whether he might have feelings for Roman. While hallucinating, he dreams of Roman in skintight swimming trunks. Meanwhile, Roman tries to find out whether Axel is gay. After the life-saving incident, they have two more moments of close connection: once when they get stuck in the elevator together, and then again when Roman tells Axel his coming-out story.
So is Axel actually gay and opens up to Roman? DA: No, in the end we don't find out if Axel is gay. But that's not really the issue here. The viewers get to see how difficult it is for Axel to deal with emotions. So this whole situation plunges him into a severe identity crisis. Axel's probably too old for a normal coming out anyway. But because he's never really allowed himself to have feelings, it IS possible that he'd only start thinking about his sexuality at age 30.
As a straight actor, can you even relate to the coming-out issue? DA: In my experience, everyone in the entertainment industry has a very open-minded approach to gay people. But it's different in society. So I do understand that gay people have the need to come out. On the other hand, I do find it unusual to define yourself so much via your sexuality.
Dennis, there's a scene where Roman climbs out of the pool naked and tries to provoke Axel into a reaction. Do you think a "gay test" like that makes sense? DG: I think tests like that miss the point in reality. Although I do personally enjoy provoking people at a sexual level - but I do it to break taboos and get close to people that way, to talk to them about serious issues. But I don't do it to question the other person's sexual identity.
Speaking of "getting close" - you were completely naked in the scene at the pool. What was it like to shoot it that way? DG: It was extremely important and right for the role and the plot to shoot that scene exactly like that. At first I thought, "Now you finally have to drop your pants in front of the team." But since we air in the early evening, it was obvious that you wouldn't actually see much on screen. Although I have to say I would have preferred to see my cock on screen rather than my fat arse.
Your fat arse? DG: I was fat when I went to school. Some of the comments from back then stuck around.
...but that's completely different now. And on AWZ, Roman Wild had a pretty hot boyfriend a while ago. DG: Well, with Igor Dolgatschew (who plays Deniz Öztürk), the viewers always had the "pretty one" in our relationship to measure me against. It's different with Daniel because...
Daniel (interrupting): ...because we're not pretty or what?
Dennis (soothing): That's not what I mean, but it just bores me to death to only see beautiful young people on TV. I do think the two of us break away from that cliché.
Would you agree with that, Daniel? Do you want to be more than just a daytime soap that's pretty to look at? DA: Of course AWZ's declared goal is not to provide an extremely intellectual programme. But we don't want to be shallow, either. We try to provide the greatest possible depth for this format - despite the unfortunate stigma you carry as a German soap actor.
Dennis, what's the message of this storyline for the people out there, especially for gay people? DG: I think that, for example, for young people in school, the story has a clear message: Outsiders who rarely talk to each other, who might even harass and diss each other, actually might have more in common than they think - in this case the uptight square and the gay guy.
And once they've opened up to each other, they'll live happily ever after? That's exactly what doesn't happen. Roman offers Axel his friendship, but Axel decides to turn it down. He withdraws back into his emotion-free shell. Still, from then on, the two of them will be connected by those brief but intense moments of human interaction they shared. That makes this story one of the most beautiful that I got to act in during my career. I'm proud of that. Period.

That's a wonderful interview -- thanks so much for translating it, Aldi! Even if this story didn't blossom into the kind of romance we expected, I think it will always be a very unique approach (one you rarely find in soaps) to two characters' interaction. And I love how it's still colouring their relations today.
Plus we got the gold lamé pants out of it, so WIN!
