Fabulous pics, Paul. Danke danke danke! You blooming LUCKY guy, you! Onto Jo's FB fanpage, there's now been added a video snippet from one of the Q&A panels[/url] (no Thore, though). It's of Jo referencing this latest storyline, saying what it's like to play it, talking about audience reactions, etc. And he says it's important that there's a balance for the audience, so it's not 'boring' for a couple to either be seen always happy or always fighting. ...And at the moment, Christian and Olli have some difficulties and it's so nice and so much fun to play that..............

Um...yeah...Thore & me. I did NOT ask him to do this! Really! He then wanted to do the "Baby" scene from Dirty dancing and I refused. I told him he'd throw out his back. ;D THIS one is my favorite of the bunch!!! Isn't Thore, like, a German cowboy? Because that's how cowboys carry the baby calves when they go to the butcher ;D ;D ;D OH!!!! The photo also reminds me of THIS: Are you sure you didn't wake up with a ring on your finger the next morning?

Blog Post #3 – Closing Thoughts
Wow, what a weekend. When I decided to make the trip to New York back in December I knew it was going to be good, but I had no idea it was going to be THIS GOOD. I figured at least I would get a chance to meet the actors. I was not prepared for the amount of time I would get with them, and how open, patient and gracious they would be with all of us. They made us feel less like a fans and more like friends. Our presence and enthusiasm really touched them and they were as grateful to us as we were to them.
Nor was I prepared for the level of bonding that would come from being in the same room with others who “get” my passion for these shows. We all came from such different places and walks of life but were united in our love of the characters, and the social progress being achieved as these stories hit the mainstream (well HBO anyway). Europe has led the way on gay rights and inclusiveness, and the social acceptance we see represented in these soaps gives hope to those of us in countries like the US, where gay people remain second class citizens. I told Jo what he and Thore are doing is revolutionary. He was a bit surprised by that but I told him not only is his work inspiring to so many, it's also creating positive change in ways we don’t even know about. I told him to keep doing what he’s doing and he said “I will.”
Here are some of my favorite memories from the weekend:
- Thursday night karaoke pre-party at 2nd on 2nd, when we discovered some in our group can really sing! - Watching the “Breathe Me” episode on the big screen at Madame X. When the first kiss happened and the entire room screamed, the look of shock on Jo and Thore’s faces was absolutely priceless. - In the cold outside the Stonewall Inn, someone asked Thore, “If you were gay who would you want to get with the most?” and him saying “If there was any gay man inside of me, it would have to be Jo. Because he is so handsome.” And I just melted into a puddle right there. - Little Felix Isenbugel dancing with his Cheshire cat grin. He’s a bit shy at first but after a few drinks, watch out! - Igor being completely over-the-top, grabbing his crotch and signing some guy’s chest. The man is like a Russian volcano and Dennis is one of the few who can keep the lid on. - Andreas Jancke making a “surprise” visit at the party Saturday night, with his beard and rugged good looks melting the hearts of straight girls and gay boys alike. - Thore lifting Tikhon2 onto his shoulders and letting us all relive that fun bit of Chrolli cuteness. - Laughing hysterically with my roomies Solomom67, Demonmutt and Scarpien about all the crazy antics that went on over the weekend. - Watching Friday’s VL episode together in our hotel room and screaming in unison at that sexy bedroom scene. - At Sunday brunch, Jo saying to Scarpien, “You are going to miss your plane!”
The only thing I regret is that so many people who wanted to come could not due to work commitments, the expense, etc. It truly was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and one I won’t forget. I think there was definitely a consensus that we should do this again—in whatever for that takes. It was just too damned fun!
I was talking to a freelance reporter on Saturday night and when he asked what I thought of the event, my response was “this is the future.” I really believe that we are onto something here, something that will take us to a whole new level. It’s not just about how and what we watch on TV, but about moving past the barriers of language and culture to unite in a common commitment to equality and the belief that love really can change the world.
Will post a few more pics after this post. Hope to see you all next time!
Love, Bsgnut (Brian)

OMG.......How can it be possible to fit so much SQUEE into one weekend. Well....let me tell you... there was TONS of Squee in NYC this weekend. Finally home after a long afternoon of flying to find that nothing had changed...except me.....and I will never be the same. One weekend...can be life changing...and for me it was. This weekend changed me in so many wonderful ways that I know it will take me a while to work it all out.
First of all....a shout out to my Partners In Love; Scarpien, Demonmutt, Bsgnut. There are times in your life when the Fates smile upon you, the planets align and for one brief moment in time.....the magic happens. This was that weekend. Deciding to room with 3 people you have never met.....can be risky, but what a payoff I got! I couldn't have asked for better roomies. We talked, we laughed, we squeed and OH YES WE SWOONED....and had a damn good time doing it.
Being united in love was amazing. Everyone comes to this story and is touched by it for their own personal reasons, but all that mattered was that we were there for the same reasons; 1) to support the shows and the fellas we love so much, 2) meet kindred spirits, and 3) support 2 really wonderful charities. (and okay.......get a chance to ogle our beloveds!!) Add to that the fact that we were....in NYC and partying in some amazing places with fellow addicts to the weekend....and it took it to a whole different level.
I met SO many wonderul members of the community and can now put faces and personalities with screen names. Thanks to EVERYONE who came to the Second on Second Party. What a great way to get the party started and break the ice. Thunderkat you ROCK so hard words to describe your awesomeness just fail me. You my dear...are a force to be reckoned with and it would not have been the same without you there.
People from different religions, political ideologies, socio-economic groups, educational backgrounds and sexual orientations came together as a UNITED front for a weekend that is really difficult to describe.....it was just the most amazing feeling.
This weekend will go down as one of the most amazing weekends of my life. Thank you to everyone who welcomed me in and let me share it with you.
YOU ALL ROCK!
In Soap Fairy Love!!! Beth

tihkon...you have some awesome pictures. Everyone looks great and I can see had a rocking time on Saturaday. I really wished I could have been there if not for work, but i'm still so grateful that I was able to attend the Friday night event. To meet Jo and Thore was just incredible for me. And to meet some of the fans from this site was just fantastic. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I'll never forget this past Friday for the rest of my life.

Bsgnut...your blog post #3 was beautiful to read and very heartfelt.
And Thore saying if he were gay it would be Jo he would want to be with...I've just melted into a puddle of goo.
And what you wrote about Friday's night viewing of the 'Breathe Me' ep and Jo and Thore's reaction to the cheers from the crowd was indeed, priceless.

I also got a picture with Gregory Michael. And the first thing I said to him was how I loved Dante's Cove. He is extremely friendly and was talking up and storm with all the fans. A super nice guy.

Here is me reporting for recap duty ;D Dead on my feet. But the things I do for you BTW, Gürtel, I am hurt you didn't mention me But if that's how you want it to be... *gets ready to be bitchy* Day 1: YouTube Celebration As many already mentioned we got together at MadameX. Peeps were registering, getting their name tags, wristbands, programs, gummy bears, red ribbons, having their pictures taken (look out for a special treat, as soon as I am home again!) ... and the vibe was awesome The party started with an awesome "Soap vs real". Who would have thought?!?! First "stars" to arrive for the night were Jo and Thore from Verbotene Liebe. The crowd did go wild. Jo and Thore took over and the different fandoms were introduced with showreels of ... erm... specific scenes ;D Scott Evans was next. Felix, Dennis and Roman were arriving just as "Unzertrennlich" was playing - talk about perfect timing! Last but not least Hal and Gregory showed up. Next thing on the tight schedule were the first Gays of Our Lives video awards. Igor and Dennis presented the award for Alles was zählt - And the Oscar goes to ... SHELLY! Gute Zeiten Schlecht Zeiten's favorite was Anika's video! Jo and Thore entered the stage again to present the VL winner - Flippa! As she wasn't present Erwin had the honour of accepting on her behalf ;D Afterwards the guys were mingling in the crowd and accepting presents. The sheer sweetness and genuine interest everyone showed for the fans and their stories lessened the nervousness of some Sleep for Sonnenschein: 3 hours Day 2: Q&As, FANtastic party I can't tell you much of what was going on during the lunch since I was no there yet. But from what I heard I missed out on something. Oh well. Someone helped me present the fabulous, amazing things we got from VL, AWZ, OLTL, and GZSZ. And yaaaaaaayyyyy we got a scarf as well! And Erwin! WOOOT! The themes of the panel discussions were: 1) Those German Soaps - What makes each one unique? -- Tom, Igor, Dennis, Felix, Thore, Jo 2) Harmony vs Drama - What's a good balance? -- Tom, Dennis, Gregory and Jo 3) The clichéd closet - What makes coming out stories work? -- Scott, Igor, Felix, Gregory, Thore 4) From Script to Screen - Bringing the Chrolli and DeRo stories to Life? -- Tom and Dennis 5) Ain't Love a Bitch - Triangle love stories -- Igor, Scott, Felix, Thore and Jo 6) Working in the American Idiom -- The future of gay storylines in U.S. t.v. -- Greg, Hal and Scott Hal was absolutely fricking GREAT at hosting the panels. He rock(ed)!!! As this was a Saturday Hal was scheduled to do his twice a week livestream. So with the help of another awesome person aka owner of the Stonewall - can you tell we were surrounded by awesomeness?!?! - he set one up just downstairs and interviewed the actors in their breaks. There was time to have calenders signed, pictures taken, just chat with your darling, watch Christian erm Thore munch, or simply drool and/or vent with the fellow addict next to you. Or freeze your a** off during a ziggie break OUTSIDE Off to the bittersweet party at 9pm. *sniff* Even the most awesome events have to come to an end. Before this day/night is over I just HAVE to mention Kyle! The bartender at the Stonewall Inn. I heart you! So much! Hope you'll be able to read it. I am working on it Sleep for Sonnenschein: 2.5 hours Day 3: Farewell brunch Mustang Harry's. Can't say much about that one either, but that's simply because I was/still overwhelmed by all that love. We are just happy that EVERYone enjoyed themselves. And judging by the happy, smily faces all around... Well not towards the end, it got a bit teary there, but overall: EPIC WIN! BTW: WOOOOOT *does a happy dance* We got OVER 2000 Dollars for the charities, just with the Silent Auction and the 50:50 rally Thank you guys!!! PS: We don't know the total amount for the charities until all the expenses are in. We will keep you updated.Sleep for Sonnenschein: tba Probably not much ;D Last but definitely not least, on behalf of all of us, WE LOVE YOU ALL
