You know, it's really great to see all these positive reactions to this show from new viewers. I basically grew up with the show. It's great to share it now through Lucas with non-Dutch viewers. Next season the show is going to air the 4000th episode. I really hope they will do something special for it. Next year is also the 20th Anniversary of the show.

Oh, that's an interesting scene, justinate. The girl in the video is the female model Nina mentioned to Lucas. Her name is Vicky.
She's sick and Dex tells her about this movie he saw about two men on the North Pole and one of them was sick. The other kept him warm by lying against him. Then Vicky says she saw it too and that you had to be naked or else it wouldn't work. The thought of Dex watching a movie where two guys are naked together... ;D
I think he was trying to seduce her. Which would be okay if Dex is bi. LOL!
You know it's kind of funny. Vicky once wondered if Dex was gay too, similar to how Nina asked it this week.

Finally caught up with the lastest clips and I must say I really like Lucas and Dex. I love how you're practically the encyclopedia on GTST Mark! It's all coming back to me now and you fill in the blanks perfectly. Thanks! *Now I'm feeling all nostalgic and thinking about the early days with Arnie, Linda, Peter, Helen, etc. Oh, and Simon! I was completely in love with the show back then... *

I loved the show back then too. But I have to say that after a few bad years I've been loving the show again since this season. And Lucas only makes things better.

It was posted with the interview on GTST.nl that appeared on the site last week: www.rtl.nl/soaps/gtst/achterdeschermen/interviews/Ferry_Doedens.xmlBTW, I translated the interview: After a long trip from New York Lucas arrived in Meerdijk on Tuesday. There, he was welcomed with joy by Nina, Ludo and Janine. The actor playing the character Lucas is Ferry Doedens. We talked to him about acting in GTST, the attention Ferry is getting because of this ‘special’ role and we took some time to get to know him a little better.A gay characterThe most-asked question I get in interviews is what it is like to play a gay character. My answer is that I think it’s really exciting and a big challenge. But it would be just as fun to play him if Lucas was straight. Lucas is someone who is always positive, he doesn’t reveal everything he knows, he’s witty and he knows what he wants. He’s full of life and we both hate injustice. And we are both open-minded. But there are also differences. If Lucas doesn’t like someone he will let it be known pretty fast. I will continue to be nice to that person. Lucas can be sly. He’s still a Sanders of course. I’m not like Lucas in that aspect either. Living StatueI first did VMBO and after that I studied ‘Art, theatre & media’ in Groningen. I was the lead singer in the band ‘Walrus Gumboots’, I was Dutch champion living statue and I was among the last 18 of Dutch Idol season 4. Besides that I’ve always worked in restaurants. I’m going to do that again during the summer, because I like it so much. No, I’m not going to stop doing it because I’m now on GTST. How I ended up here? I was registered at a casting agency and they invited me for an audition. They didn’t want to tell me for which role it was, but they did tell me it was for a Dutch drama series. That week my mother was watching TV and saw they were looking for a young guy in GTST. It turned out that my casting was for Lucas. My auditions went great and that’s when I really wanted to get this part. Candy factoryThe first day at GTST was very exciting. I got a lot of new impressions and got to know a lot of new people. I compare it to a candy factory, because everything is so much fun. But it was also weird to walk around here. I grew up with GTST. I remember everything from years ago, like Ludo and Janine. I even remember when Lucas was born and now I’m playing that role. The first day I mixed up some names of the characters and the actors. But I’m doing okay now, haha. The first scene was very exciting for me. I was standing with sweaty hands on the set. It’s such a new experience to be in the studio. My first scene was with Emiel and Marly and it’s really great to do scenes with them. Even though they’re also young, they have more experience so I learn a lot from them. It sounds like a cliché but it is really like a warm bath here and that’s especially because of the great relationship between actors and people from the production. A lot is happening now and I’ll have to get used to it. Luckily there are enough people at GTST that I can talk to. It’s really cool that I get to play Lucas, because he’s going to experience a lot of great things!

Thanks for the (hot) pic and the interview. Is it just me or has the new season premiere date been pushed back? I could've sworn it was the last day of August?

Yes, during the end credits of the last episode it said GTST would be back on September 7. It was a surprise to all viewers. I think I know why this happened. Usually before the season starts they re-air the last week. So it's possible GTST is back on August 31, but that the new episodes start airing on September 7. Today is BTW the last day of filming for cast and crew. Tonight they have a wrap party and then they have vacation for 5 weeks.

Oooh. I wonder if they do videos like the VL crew does of their parties. That would be fun to see. I really liked watching the actor who plays Dex doing Dancing with the Stars. He was so awkward but so earnest and cute.

I just read an interview with Jan Kooijman who plays Danny de Jong on the show. In the interview he mentioned that he shares his dressing room with Ruud Feltkamp, Emiel Sandtke and Ferry Doedens. You all know what Ferry and Emiel look like, but here are two pics of Jan (left) and Ruud: Jan has played a gay character on a different soap, so he was asked what he would think if his character on GTST would be involved with Lucas. He said that he didn't think it would make much sense if his character would fall for a guy all of a sudden. But he did say that he thought that Ferry was doing a great job as Lucas.

So.... we're now two weeks into the summer break. It's going faster than I expected. 7 Weeks to go... LOL

Haha, yeah, I expect we will get a lot of Lucas. His mother Janine was at #1 in the season 19 episode count and his sister Nina was #2. That probably means Lucas will be on a lot next season as well (we already saw him on 3 episodes during his first week).

Found this video today:
It's from a local TV network in Friesland. The voice-over talks the Fries language, but Ferry talks Dutch.
No new info here. Ferry lives in Amsterdam during the week, but on weekdays he goes home (Drachten, Friesland). They visited him there. They mention it's a contract role and that the character is gay. Ferry mentions that Lucas is a normal guy and that we'll get to see how the other characters will react to his character. Ferry also says he wanted to be on GTST ever since he was 6 years old.

Thanks for sharing that illimen. I saw it when it aired on TV here. I thought it was a complex, but interesting film. I enjoyed watching it. For some reason this was never released on DVD here, so I might have to get the German DVD.
What I love about Emiel is that he does different things. An art house film (Trage Liefde), a primetime thriller series (Vuurzee) and a soap (GTST).
I'd love to see him do theater. He could easily combine that with GTST. More actors from the show do theater at the same time.

Let's hope Emiel won't have to reprise those same facial expressions when it's time for Lucas to be on top of Dex Seriously though, what's the story there? I'm intrigued (and not just by the naked booty, though that is FTW). Is Emiel's character being blackmailed, questioning, gay-for-pay or what?

Emiel plays Felix who, for the first time in his life, is visiting his father. His father (Johan) doesn't know he has a son. Felix visits him often at the bar, but everytime he finds a reason to delay his big reveal. Johan is gay and misinterprets the looks from Felix. He thinks Felix is, just like him when he was younger, searching for his sexual identity.
It's definitely a controversial film. I didn't know what to think when I read what the movie was about, but like I said. I liked it. I've loved Emiel since I saw him in Vuurzee in 2005/2006 and I also love Victor Löw who plays his father in this film.

Are you saying he had sex with his FATHER? Okay, I suppose I shouldn't be too shocked. You mentioned GTST had a mother and son who were lovers before the reveal. But here Felix knows that this man is his father, right? So why would he want to have sex with him? For that matter, is Felix even gay? I'd interpreted Felix's reaction as being towards the gay sex aspect of it, not the incest .... Oh bother, now I want to know everything about this movie.

It's been a while since I saw it, so I don't remember all the details. But yes, Felix knew it was his father, so his reaction was from the incest I would imagine. Felix to me seemed like a really messed up person. In that bed scene with the girl he's telling her about how when he was 10 he was forced to have sex by his 12-year old neighbour like it's no big deal.
Now it seems like we Dutchies are obsessed with incest. ;D

I upload some scenes from Trage liefde (2007) with Emiel Sandtke (Dex) in it. OH MY GOD! I have this film but I didn't watch it because I don't have the subtitles to it. But I seriously do not know it's by the actor that plays Dex. Cool!!
