Raw - Geoff and Pavel

Raw is a 6 part Irish drama series airing on RTE Two. It began Sept. 8, 2008. The series centers on the employees of a restaurant in Dublin.

One of the ongoing storylines is the relationship between Geoff, the gay hot-tempered Australian sous chef, and Pavel, the shy Czech waiter.

I am going to be uploading this storyline to YouTube. So far I have their scenes from Episode 1 posted. I am still working on getting Episode 2 (should have it soon enough), and I already have Episodes 3-5. Episode 6 airs tonight, I believe. I have only watched Episode 1 so far, since I don't want to watch the episodes out of order, but it looks like a great storyline. The show itself is actually really good as well.

To explain what is going on in these scenes:
Tanya runs the restaurant (she's the one who chews out Pavel for setting the table wrong). Her husband is the head chef. He has failed to show up to work today, and they have no idea where he is (it is implied that he's a drunk). So Geoff, the sous chef, finds himself in charge for this important night, at which an Irish Times critic is reviewing the restaurant. Tanya lets the reporter go back to look at the kitchen.
Later on that evening, the reporter witnesses one of the waiters getting beat up in the restroom because he owes some drug dealers a lot of cash. This is what Pavel is referring to when he says the reporter has his eye on a drug story instead.

I had to cut a few scenes out to meet YouTube's size/length requirements, but they were not important to the relationship storyline.

I managed to get Episode 2 faster than expected, so I've clipped it and upped it to YouTube. I'll try to get to Episodes 3-5 tomorrow, but I make no promises.

Things are progressing at a very nice pace for this couple!

In this episode:
JoJo and Bobby, who are housemates, are throwing a big party. But Bobby forgot to buy alcohol. So they decide to "borrow" some from the restaurant, and recruit poor, sweet Pavel to help them. Then on with the party!
This is a great episode for our boys! Pavel is adorable in his drugged out stupor. And you can really see Geoff growing quite smitten with Pavel as he takes care of him.

There were quite a few great Geoff/Pavel scenes in this episode, so rather than trim any of them, I just kept them all and split the video into two parts. The first part is everything at the restaurant, the second part is everything at the party.

To explain what else is going on:
Mal, the head chef and Tanya's husband, has decided to redevote himself the restaurant. Of course, he's still a drunk.
Geoff told Tanya he got an offer from another restaurant and wants a raise to stay, since he's pretty much been running the place for ages now. The restaurant is in a financial bind, so Tanya says they'll have to fire someone to give Geoff his raise. Mal is pissed that Geoff is being so "disloyal," and annoyed that everyone acts like Geoff runs the kitchen and not him. So Mal decides to take charge (after snorting a large quantity of coke). The two of them butt heads all day.
But by the end of the episode, they hash it out. Mal explains he just wants to cook, not run a restaurant. He does that for Tanya. So he asks Geoff to become his partner. Friends again!

The actor who plays Pavel is incredible.
There was so much meaning in that simple "No."

Sexy but reserved and subtle but all the while saying:
"UM, EXACTLY WHO DO YOU THINK I AM MR, I JUST MET YOU!
I KNOW YOU DON'T THINK YOU'RE GONNA GET OVER THAT EASY!"

It was perfect. Just, ahem, "No, I am not."

I love how Geoff just doesn't understand sweet, innocent Pavel.... but at the same time seems so charmed by his sweet, innocent ways.
I love the way this storyline is progressing, but I keep getting nervous waiting for something dreadful. Since this is only a 6 part series, I'm hoping they won't want to tear our boys up with just 2 episodes left to go!

There were too many scenes for YouTube's time limit, so I've again split the episode into two parts. I still had to cut out some of Geoff's scenes, but none of them were related to Pavel.

The first part is all the hijinx at the restaurant (plus a brief scene of Geoff having a one night stand at the beginning.)
The second part is all Geoff and Pavel, as they get drunk together and....

In case you are having trouble understanding what is going on in this episode:
At the very beginning of the episode, Tanya found Mal passed out drunk again, and told him she was through with him. This inspired Mal to clean up his act. A big theme of the series has been that Mal may not love running the restaurant, but he loves Tanya.
Mal, Tanya and Geoff all used to work together at another restaurant, before they left together and Mal and Tanya started Raw. They hate their old boss (who used to date Tanya). He is the man Pavel seated. He wants Tanya to leave Raw and come back to work for him. So Mal and Geoff decide to play a prank on him.

I know! I wasn't expecting that from Pavel, but I loved it.

The next episode takes place several weeks after the end of Episode 4. I'm a bit sad we don't get to see the morning after with Pavel and Geoff, but I like how their relationship appears to have progressed. I was worried that Geoff may try to treat him as a one night stand.

Again, I had to cut out some minor Geoff scenes and split the video into two parts. All scenes will be included in the download clips.

There is only one more episode after this one. It only aired yesterday, and I don't have it yet. If/when I get it, I will, of course, clip it an put it up. But I'm afraid we're going to be left hanging for a bit. Especially if I don't get it this week, since I'm out of town next week!

The video's a bit jumpy in the beginning (which sucks, because it's such a great scene), but it adjusts itself later.

What's going on in this episode:
Several episodes back, Mal had invited Geoff to join his partnership with Tanya in owning the restaurant. But he has yet to speak to Tanya about it, and Geoff is getting very impatient. Tanya turns out to be less than receptive. (I found this a bit strange, as she says quite a few negative things about Geoff in this episode, when in all previous episodes she was a big supporter.) She also dislikes his course suggestion, which is why you see her pushing Mal's course (while Pavel pushes Geoff's ).
Also, Geoff feels a bit threatened by Mal's relationship with Shane at the beginning of the episode, which is why he says something to JoJo about her brother being in bed with the boss. But she thinks he's talking about Shane and Tanya. She confronts Shane about it and says that he slept with Tanya, which Geoff overhears. Shane tells Jojo that they just kissed once and it was a mistake, but Geoff doesn't hear that part. Which is why he tells Mal that Shane is sleeping with Tanya.
