Mikey
While Lydia does seem to be a rather limpid hugger, she does have an excuse with Olli. As she goes to hug him he says
"Gently!"
and she's even more dainty with him.
Also, there's no bad blood between her and Ollian. She's just been busy with her own storyline and they haven't had a chance to really have any good bonding scenes between her and the boys yet.

I've been assuming that this is also the reason Christian is behaving like Olli's made of glass as well. It was clear that Olli had selected their position on the couch. The previous evening in bed Christian was very careful.
Now isn't the best time for enthusiastic physical displays of affection.

Okay, bad example. But she does it with Christian and Gregor too. I'm not hating on Lydia, I swear! It just really jumped out to me as odd.

Maybe I'm stereotyping but it has long been my impression that Germans aren't the most touchy-feely people anyway, at least compared with certain other Europeans (i.e. the Italians and Spanish) and some Americans.
I remember seeing a gay couple holding hands in Frankfurt and being a little surprised because even very few straight couples were doing so. The personal space threshold seems a bit higher. Not as high as with the Japanese for example, but definitely higher than with some other groups.
Lydia just may be a more reticent individual and not very big on lots of physically demonstrative behavior.

Usually what makes a performance believable are some of the smaller things that actors do to fill out their character and the character's situation. Today I noticed that Jo was doing a good job of this. Besides the fact that the way Olli and Christian were sitting on the couch was so cute, I noticed that Olli didn't move a whole lot and looked a bit stiff. (Stop it, Sheepie. Not that way.) And he was breathing in a way that made it believable that he was injured in such a way that breathing was a bit painful. The make-up and wardrobe department might be sticking mostly with the band-aid at a jaunty angle above the eye, but I thought Jo is doing a good job embodying the injured Olli.

Loved it! Thanks, Tihkon, Ivan and Nanna. Lydia is starting to grow on me. For the first time, I'm actually starting to feel sympathy for her weird situation. So much so, in fact, I kinda want to know what's happened to her mother...? Love our guys just chillin on the couch together. That scene makes up for the sorta automatonisch manner I saw in yesterday's epi. Christian really is looking out for his guy! Hey, what's he reading? Didn't you guys see? Something on hypnosis? Let's hope he's not planning something kinky when Olli is better LOL. Or, ahem, maybe we should hope for it? ;D By the Gods...I don't see how on earth Lydia and Sebastian can EVER get back together. I mean, just yuck... Geoff

Did they mention the spiders? ;D Ugh, stop. One of the main reasons I'm glad I live in Ireland now is that we don't have any spiders bigger than the completely non-poisonous garden ones, and even then they freak the living bejesus out of me. I'd love to go to Australia, but I'd quite honestly have a nervous breakdown if I came within a mile of a decent-sized tarantula. Where's the "fleeing in terror from giant spiders" smiley when you need it? Hee, I see they did mention spiders. ;D I don't know how I've survived so long, surrounded by all these poisonous creatures. I can avoid the sharks, but a deadly drop bear actually visited our garden last year, and we have quite a few red-back spiders in our yard. You just have to tough it out. Probably some curly-wurst or strudel. ;D ;D ;D ;D Thore

By the Gods...I don't see how on earth Lydia and Sebastian can EVER get back together. I mean, just yuck... Geoff It's different for everyone. I remember Sarah the twit on Hollyoaks saying it was worse that Craig was cheating on her with another guy than when her ex-boyfriend Rhys cheated on her with her own mother (and then later when Sarah & Rhys started seeing each other again, he was sleeping with his own sister on the side). I didn't get that POV at all because I'd forgive a guy I was dating for sleeping with another man way before I'd forgive a guy I was dating sleeping with my mother. YMMV. Probably some curly-wurst or strudel. ;D A Schlager album cover & mic ?

But (as a straight person).... hand holding is so impractical! You keep bumping into each other and it keeps you from walking really fast

But, if forced to answer in some kind weird poll, I'd go with this: Unforgivable: sleeping with another family member of any kind. YUCK! Possibly forgivable: sleeping with a girl---would weird me out, totally, but I could 'consider' reconciliation. I'd THINK about it, that's all I'd promise ;D Never while I live Forgivable By Any Means Known to Man or Woman-kind: sleeping with another guy. Period. Forever. Dumbledore is Really Dead, unforgiveable! heh. ;D Geoff

And, so many times, I found my stride doesn't match my partner's...it's terribly awkward! Do I slow down? Do I let them speed up? You find yourself thinking more about how to walk together than actually being together. Let's just forget the whole thing, k? Geoff

These caps cracked me up. I think one of my favorite bits from the episode is when Gregor walks in and claps the back of Christian's neck. It was just such a sweetly nonchalant moment of fraternal affection. It is little touches like that that make the acting on VL seem so believable.

This pic reminds me of those clips you get on YT with kittens sitting on a bed and simultaneously following someones finger around the room ;D I can't stop laughing.

But (as a straight person).... hand holding is so impractical! You keep bumping into each other and it keeps you from walking really fast Ok, if you're walking to get somewhere in a hurry, hand-holding is impractical. But if you're just strolling, or don't need to get anywhere fast, then I like it. Which isn't to say that I'd do it in most areas of Dublin (I'd very much like for my skull to remain intact), but on the rare occasions that I would it's nice. It's a much simpler, sweeter way of showing affection in public than scoring the entire time ('cause there's nothing more annoying than couples, gay or straight, who spend all their time with their tongues down each others' throats), but it's still a big gesture.
